Australian ex actor, psychiatric nurse, private pilot, sculptor and mum, Deirdre, writing as D M Macdonald, turned to writing the crime fiction she has loved all her life, when her children were growing up. Her early writing career stalled when a head injury sidelined her for many years. She recovered slowly and embarked on a Professional Writing and Editing Diploma to try to jump start her writing life. At first she could only write short stories and short plays.
