Robot Nanny. A human-robot society? Not if, but when.

About Robot Nanny. A human-robot society? Not if, but when.

The decision for Amber and myself to get a robot nanny for our son, Jimmy, was a no-brainer – cheaper than a human nanny, programmed with unwavering loyalty and a personality to adapt to an ‘optimal living environment.’ What more could any busy, career-driven parents want?
Manny – designed with a likeness to my wife so people would assume she was a blood relation – arrived on our doorstep two days before the birth of our son.
And before long, Amber and I were unable to remember a time we could manage – survive – without our robot nanny.

Stillwaters (The Four Lives of J. S. Freeman, Book 1) by Yvonne Anderson

About Stillwaters (The Four Lives of J. S. Freeman, Book 1) by Yvonne Anderson

THE FOUR LIVES OF J. S. FREEMAN
by Yvonne Anderson

A three-book speculative fiction serial.
Synopsis

Book 1 – Stillwaters

First life: Motherless from birth and rejected by her father, JEMIMA (Jemma) FREEMAN survives as best she can on the island of Freemansland where she was born. Her one consolation is her twin brother, JERIAH. Her greatest terror is her older brother, who does bad things to little girls.
Her older brother catches her alone one evening, and Jeriah comes to her rescue. In the melee, her father and wicked brother die. Now orphaned, Jemma and Jeriah are made wards of the City—the powerful global entity that Jemma holds responsible for everything that’s wrong with the world. Though she despises the City, their Children’s Services restores her to health and places her under the care of an aunt she never knew she had.
Thus begins her second life.
The City sends Jemma and her brother to the Academy to get a modern education. They discover their old friend, MAYNE, is also a student there. In order to keep the other boys from bothering Jemma, Mayne leads people to believe that he and Jemma have an arranged marriage in place, a respected tradition on Freemansland.
Near the end of their time at the Academy, Mayne convinces Jemma and Jeriah to join the military after graduation. The recruiter promises they’ll all three serve together, and if they enlist for ten years, they’ll be granted citizenship with all its rights and privileges upon their discharge.
The recruiter wasn’t lying about the citizenship, but despite his promise, Jemma, Jeriah, and Mayne are sent to three different branches of the military. Being separated from her brother almost sends Jemma over the brink. It’s surprising that it doesn’t, for in her first life, she was infected with two stelli, parasitic worms that live in the brain. As long as the worms are dormant, they do no harm, but when they become active, the patient goes mad and dies—and stress is believed to cause the worms to awaken.
While in the military, Jeriah marries and starts a family, causing Jemma to feel separated from him by more than distance.
During this time, Jemma has a professional relationship with ASHGREY (Grey) STANDTALL, a man of high pedigree who is unaccountably attracted to her despite her low-born status. Because of the abuse she suffered in childhood, however, she is mistrustful of men and doesn’t wish to be attracted to anyone sexually. His proposal of marriage shocks her. Eventually she agrees to the marriage, and they are betrothed.
Jemma has always considered the highborn (Citizens First Class) to be wicked and cruel. But when Grey brings her home to meet his family, their kindness toward her and their honorable ways cause her to realize that she has misjudged them. This is especially a shock because, as a member of the City’s Ruling Council, Grey’s father should be among the worst of the villains.
Seeing the Standtalls’ sterling character, she resolves to put her Freemansland upbringing behind her and embrace this family’s nobility as her own.

The story continues in Book #2, Citizen, and concludes in Book #3, Free.

Author Bio:
Yvonne Anderson Writes Fiction That Takes You Out of This World.

Born in the fifties, growing up in the sixties, and coming of age in the seventies, Anderson is a throwback to a mythical age that perhaps never existed. Is that why she writes about people and cultures that live only in her muddled mind?

Anderson made her publishing debut with the novel The Story in the Stars, first in the four-book series, Gateway to Gannah. Stars was a finalist in the 2012 American Christian Fiction Writers Carol Awards. The other titles in the series: Words in the Wind, Ransom in the Rock, and The Last Toqeph.

After exploring the planet Gannah for several years, Anderson took a brief hiatus from her space travels to write a short contemporary fiction piece, First Love, for a 2017 novella anthology, Coming Home: A Tiny House Collection. Don’t let the title fool you; it’s not a romance.

In early 2018, she launched a new series, The Four Lives of J. S. Freeman, publishing the first book, Stillwaters, in February. The next two titles, Citizen and Free, will be available in the summer and autumn of the same year.

Afflicted (Book 1 of the RTX Chronicles)

About Afflicted (Book 1 of the RTX Chronicles)

The apocalypse came and went in a single day. When the smoke cleared, half the people in the world were dead. As governments and communities fought to stay intact, dangerous powers manifested in a few of the survivors.

Being afflicted was never easy–but when you were cast out by family, wanted by the government, grappling with inner demons, and chased by monstrous beings intent on killing you–it could be a nightmare.

Thrown together by fate, Ruddy, Teri and Xeke hadn’t asked for these abilities, and they certainly hadn’t asked to be hunted for what they could do. But this was life now, and if they were going to survive, they had to learn to trust each other–and more importantly, to trust themselves. Everyone else wanted them dead.

That’s the way things are when you’re…

Afflicted.

Author Bio:
Michael B. Hinton and Sherry R. Melancon learned to write stories while playing Dungeons & Dragons. If, at the end of a gaming session, the player characters were in a spot where they had time to relax and chat, the players could write conversations that took place between those characters outside of the gaming session and then share them with everyone hoping for someone else to pick up the conversation where it was left off. They were called “campfire conversations.” It became apparent that Sherry and Mike were way more into writing stories than anyone else. Finally, after being pestered to participate in one too many of these mini-novella explorations, the other players told them they ought to write a book. And that’s what they did. It took a while. It turns out writing a book is harder than writing a campfire conversation, but they figured it out.

Her Vampire’s Promise

About Her Vampire’s Promise

Reade Hayes knows better than any vampire that nothing good ever comes out of Central City. So he isn’t surprised the beautiful blonde he meets in a dive bar is crazy. What does surprise him is how fast she moves, how hard she hits, and the fact she’s wearing a ring he last saw two decades ago on the hand of his dead friend.

Is it possible the little girl he swore a blood pact to protect didn’t die in the fire? If the beauty sitting beside him is that pretty little baby, where has she been for twenty years? And why is she so lethal?

On hindsight Lawrie Tyrone realizes drinking vampire blood might not have been the smartest decision. But scientists experiment and if she is going to prove her father was not a traitor, she has to take risks. So far she’s experienced no alarming side effects, well, none other than being able to recognize vampires walking among humans.

From the power he exudes to his gorgeous dark eyes everything about the man to her right screams danger. Every logical thought tells her to kill him. But something in his eyes stops her. Is he using his vampire powers to influence her, or is something else making her heart ache for him?

Can love thrive in the ruins of Central City?

About “The True Tales Of The Road To Key West” by Michael Reisig

To all my readers:
This is not exactly a novel. It’s a madcap recollection of real experiences that took place in the Caribbean throughout the early and middle years of my life (as a professional diver, pilot, treasure seeker, and taker of foolish chances). Ultimately, all this led to the writing of my bestselling “The Road to Key West” series.
The following tales will make you smile with wonder, remind you of the importance of loyalty and love in life, and make you laugh your ass off.
If you haven’t read any of “The Road To Key West” novels, this is the perfect place to begin. If you’ve read them all, you’ll love these engaging, sometimes laugh-out-loud recollections!
From South Florida to South America, and across the islands, this is the true story of a couple of wild and crazy guys. This is the real Road to Key West. (With great pictures…)

I’m C.D. Gorri, Paranormal Fiction Author and Creator of the Grazi Kelly Universe. I’ve always been an avid reader, and I have a profound love for books and literature. When I’m not writing or taking care of my family I can usually be found with a book or tablet in my hand. I live in my home state of New Jersey with my husband, our children, and our dogs, Dash and Chewie.

I’m a busy mom of three and finding time for leisurely reading was never easy, so I write stories that are fast-paced, yet detailed with satisfying conclusions. If I thought making time to read was difficult, I was in for a huge surprise when I started writing, but now that I started, I can’t picture myself doing anything else! I love writing powerful women and strong heroes who face relatable problems in supernatural settings! I plan on increasing the GK Universe with each and every story I publish. You can follow me on social media to keep up to date on all my new releases and events!

I love a happy ever after ending. I enjoy reading, hiking, the countryside, and traveling to destinations unspoiled by commercial tourism, like Las Vegas… 🙂
