I saw two statistics once which said, “of 3,200 children’s books published in 2013, just 93 were about African-Americans” and that same year “only 8% of children’s books were written by or about people of color.” I see this as a major challenge to which I have two options, complain in silence or take action. One of my greatest joys in life is being Sebastian and Maverick’s daddy who, at the time of this writing are 3 years and 5 months old respectively.
