A Time of Secrets by Linda B. Myers

ATOSAbout A Time of Secrets by Linda B. Myers:

When secrets are kept too long . . .

Keawalani is a village on the Big Island of Hawai’i, tucked away where tourists rarely go. Life is sweet and uncomplicated until Maile Palea, an 8-year-old girl, disappears. Twelve years later she is still missing. A Time of Secrets is the story of Maile’s sister and brother who never give up trying to find her and cannot heal until they do, of a village that no longer feels safe from a changing world, and of a perpetrator who discovers what disastrous things happen when you keep secrets too long.

The story unfolds with equal parts dread and humor, seen through the eyes of many quirky villagers, be they natives or haoles from the mainland. It is the emotional backdrop for the volcanic romance erupting between Maile’s grieving sister and the island cop who faces down his own fears to solve the crime.

If you love authentic Hawaiian lifestyle – and if you like your stories served up with suspense and hot tropical nights – this is a satisfying adventure just for you. Aloha!

FIRST 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE IN! “Myer’s attention to detail … makes devouring this book quite delicious!” “This is much more than a mystery. It may be the beginning of a saga.” “A fun, complex read rich in Hawaiian culture, humor, and lifestyle.”

Author Bio:
The Early Years

I won my first creative contest in the sixth grade for my Clean Up Fix Up Paint Up poster. This started a career that even a Phi Beta Kappa and B.A. from Michigan State University could not derail.

The Career Years

I wrote a non-fiction book entitled The Great Lakes: North America’s Inland Sea published by Outdoor World. The publisher is long since defunct, and the book appears, naked and alone, on eBay every now and again. From this experience I learned how little an author could make.

Consequently, I turned to advertising and eventually became the creative director of Grey in Chicago. I learned it not only pays to advertise, it pays to write it, too. My job titles covered the alphabet from CD to ECD to ECD/EVP to business owner with no title at all when I started my own consultancy. I left Chicago, trading in my stilettos for rain boots, and moved to the Pacific Northwest along with a nervous dachshund and a grouchy parrot.

The Now Years

Now that I represent the older but wiser end of the baby boomer years, I am concentrating on writing fiction. My novels tend toward dark subjects handled in a light tone to make them palatable. The four are available now as Kindle Select books at Amazon.com. They are:

Fun House Chronicles

Lessons of Evil

Bear in Mind

A Time of Secrets

In addition, one of my books is about to be published in Turkey. In Turkish. Which is proof that you just never know who and where your audience might be.

I am currently writing Hard to Bear, a second in the Bear Jacobs mystery series as well as a fantasy trilogy called Cascadian Revels.

Sons of Zadok by Gary Lindberg

ZadokAbout Sons of Zadok by Gary Lindberg:

“The Mother of All Conspiracies! Charlotte Ansari, international correspondent for CCN, has a problem. Her investigation into a clandestine society of assassins has made them very angry. And that’s not the most frightening part. Her Asperger’s son, who is now the leader of this global, murder-for-hire organization, has assigned its top-ranked assassin to take care of the problem.

This second book in the exciting CHARLOTTE ANSARI THRILLER series takes readers far beyond the boundaries of the first book. This wild ride moves from New York, to Ireland and the Turkish desert as Charlotte and her unwitting companions attempt to penetrate the greatest conspiracy in history. To solve the mystery, Charlotte and her companions must use super-fast quantum computers, decipher the ancient text of the Book of Enoch, trace the bloodlines of Jewish priests back thousands of years, and explore the buried ruins of the oldest temple on earth. The conspiracy they discover, however, is as modern as today’s headlines. And even more frightening.
Three decades ago, Charlotte’s mother suddenly vanished with no trace. The mystery was never solved. Then suddenly, on the same day that Charlotte’s home is attacked by terrorists, her son receives an email from the grandmother that he has never known. The coded message catapults Charlotte and her son on a dangerous mission to India and Kashmir to find the only objects that can save the old woman’s life. Unfortunately, Charlotte and her autistic son don’t know what they are looking for.

The Shekinah Legacy is a thriller in the tradition of Dan Brown, Steve Berry and James Rollins. In this provocative novel, author Gary Lindberg uses the form of the thriller to explore the limits and perils of belief.

The Crime of Seduction by Nadine LaForet

guy kissing his girlfriend against a wall at homeAbout The Crime of Seduction by Nadine LaForet:

“Heath was definitely more handsome in person than on his profile—if that was even possible. He was vital and flirty and had an incredible level of magnetism she found inescapable. From the second she felt his hand on her shoulder and heard him say her name, she was physically drawn to him in a way she had never experienced before…”

Alex Barton is a hardworking young paralegal in the Emerald County Prosecutor’s Office in the fictional Northern California coastal town of Scottsville. Despite her grueling work life, Alex, a single woman in her early thirties with a passionate nature, yearns for a real connection with somebody. As Alex cruises through the personals of the dating site Compatibility.com one night, she lays eyes on the stunningly attractive Heath Valentine, who reaches out to her online.

Their first date is a sizzling one, and Alex is soon head over heels for Heath, an apparently wealthy man who lives in a tastefully designed house. Alex is thoroughly seduced—though her older and wiser friend Mari warns her not to get emotionally involved. Mari knows a slick salesman when she sees one.

In Nadine LaForet’s suspense-filled debut erotic romance, hot and steamy sex is interwoven with romantic rejection and doubt. For Heath is too good to be true, and Alex is forced to face the embarrassing consequences of her actions. Through a series of twists, a new man comes on the scene for Alex who will accept her for who she is. But even after seeing the light, can she escape the net that has been woven around her?

As Nadine’s Birthday (her’s) Gift to you The Crime of Seduction will be on sale for 99cents December 6-9. Purchase it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and other online retailers!

SlowCurveAbout Slow Curve on the Coquihalla by R.E. Donald:

When a well respected truck driver, the owner of a family trucking business, is found dead in his truck down a steep embankment along the treacherous Coquihalla highway, his distraught daughter wants to know how and why he died. Fellow trucker Hunter Rayne, the father of two daughters himself and a former homicide detective, feels compelled to help her find answers.

As he uncovers signs of illegal cross border activity originating in a Seattle warehouse, Hunter recruits an old friend, an outlaw biker, to infiltrate what appears to be an international smuggling ring. Kadashan Speaks, Legal Plunder

kadashancover-640x553About Kadashan Speaks, Legal Plunder:

Available for $0.99. This essay was first published in 2013. I purposely unpublished it; however I am bringing it back at this time because I feel strongly that Americans should understand legal plunder as a dangerous “progressive” crusade.

In this work there is a discussion about what legal plunder is, and how it has been seeping into our society through peaceful means, as well as by revolution, the past hundred years. In this work I try to help America improve its understanding about how legal plunder is being used today by the three branches of our very own federal system. We should recognize that Presidential Proclamations and Executive Orders are becoming a habit by our president for political gains these days; also the Supreme Court’s interpretation of laws has translated unlawful topics into laws. The Legislature, along with ratification by states, has also made laws that are contrary to the Natural Law and are now amendments that are embedded into our Constitution.

These progressive movements are deliberately pointing the American compass toward socialism. In this book I quote Frederic Bastiat’s idea from his book, The Law, that socialism eventually translates to communism. One of my mentors, W. Cleon Skousen, said that socialism is communism in disguise. These are mind boggling statements from credible people and deserve to be paid attention to.

We learn in this work that Obamacare is, indeed, legal plunder; we also understand that the bases of the government shutdown last year certainly was the result of legal plunder. Be aware that, through legal plunder, we are critically pointing in that direction once again. As true Americans we should take heed of what is happening right now and right under our very eyes.

Who is Kadashan?

By Robert Adams

Even though he might have a smidgen of Swedish in him, Kadashan is a Tlingit Indian to the core. He is my father.

Even though he now lives in Yakutat, Kadashan has roots that come from other parts of Southeast Alaska as well, particularly from Sitka and Wrangell. His grandmother, Elizabeth Kadashan, who married a man from Sitka, named him after her father, John Kadashan, whose roots comes from Wrangell.

He was born in Sitka. That’s where his mother, Stella Johnson, met his father, John J. James, while they were attending Sheldon Jackson Boarding School. After his mother graduated from high school in 1936 they eloped. He was born on February 4, 1937. When he was six months old his father drowned in a hunting accident. About a year later his mother remarried, however the marriage did not last. About a year later his mother moved to her home town of Yakutat. Here she married his step father, John J. Adams.

The name Kadashan was given to him by his paternal grandmother. She named him after her father, John Kadashan who, later in his life, was the chief of a Tlingit group from Wrangell. Kadashan means man the elder.

Kadashan’s first formal education was received in Yakutat. His high school years were split between Holland High School in Holland, Michigan, and Mount Edgecumbe High School, a boarding school established by the federal government for Native Alaskans near Sitka. His graduate work was obtained from Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka (1961-1963), and later at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah (1976-1979).

As a youngster Kadashan learned from a Tlingit Indian friend, Peter Harry, how to express himself with oil colors. From that point on he taught himself how to be an artist. “He started me with oils,” he explains. “When I was in high school I started experimenting with water colors.” His short stories have been published in the Alaska Native Magazine (ANM) and the Horizons Magazine. The ANM has used his water colors to illustrate his stories. In the second printing of these stories the illustrations are reproductions in black and white of his water and acrylic paintings. He has also written for the Alaska Magazine and the Alaskan Southeaster Magazine.

In 1992 he self-published a collection of short stories: THIS IS YAKUTAT, and in 1994 published his first novel WHEN RAVEN CRIES. His stories are local color. He takes a slice of life from the lifestyle, culture, history and tradition of the Tlingit people from his community, and attempts to develop a plot which will keep the interest of the reader. To inform and entertain are the objectives for his writings particularly about the culture, history and tradition of his people, the Tlingit Indians of Alaska. In 1993 he began writing articles for the Tundra Times, a statewide Alaska Native publication, and soon after was commissioned to write a monthly column for the Juneau Empire, the major newspaper for the Capital City of Alaska.

From 1992 to 2006, my father served as the elected president of the Yakutat Tlingit tribe. It was during his tenure there that he learned about tribal governments and their relationship with the federal government. He participated in countless numbers of meetings and conferences where he learned from tribal and government leaders about tribal issues and problems of the day. As he gained more experience he wrote articles where they were published in his column called Kadashan’s’ Corner in the Juneau Empire. Robert G. Adams Jisn’eey

Broken

Broken-NewAbout Broken:

Book One of a three book trilogy.

Nick O’Hara is a veritable womanizer. The only qualifications that he looks for in a romantic connection is that the person is hot and breathing. Mainly hot. He has no desire for an emotional connection with another person, and that’s the way he lives his life. He has his fabulous wealth and his reputation as a premiere architect, and that’s enough for him.

Until Scotty James.

Scotty is a graduate student at Columbia University in New York City. She’s broken from traumatic experiences from her years in foster care and homelessness. She has a vulnerability that is intoxicating to Nick, because, deep down, he knows that he is as broken as she.

When Nick pursues Scotty, it seems that she is the only woman who doesn’t want to be with him. At first she’s a challenge, but Nick soon finds himself falling in love for the first time in his life. With a woman who wants nothing to do with him.

Can Scotty overcome her trust issues and fear to let Nick in? Or will she prove to be too broken to trust?

This is a full-length, 95,000 word, New Adult novel with mature themes.

Author Bio:
Well, I’m just a tad nutty in real life. A bit scattered, a bit of a dreamer, never together. I wanted to originally create a character based upon myself, because I felt that people could relate to somebody who is decidedly imperfect. And have her get the dreamboat man, because, let’s face it, we all want that, right ladies? That was my inspiration for the story of Iris and Ryan in my Illusions books. Those novels were so well-received, that I just decided to keep on keeping on. Scotty, the current heroine in my Broken novels, is so much more together than myself. So it’s been fun to write her. And Nick has turned into a revelation – he seems to be a bit of a tough guy who is nothing but a womanizer, but I’ve found his soft side. I’m a little bit, ok a lot, in love with Nick and Ryan myself, and who wouldn’t be? I’m having the time of my life writing these books, and I want to keep on writing them until my fans decide that they’ve had enough!

As for hobbies, there’s nothing more I love than sitting down to watch The Bachelor with a big bowl of popcorn. The romantic in me always believes that they will find true love on that show. When I’m not watching The Bachelor or How To Get Away With Murder, I enjoy lots of walking, reading, and volunteering at a local animal shelter!

Earth Vs. Aliens by T. Jackson King

EarthVsAliensCoverAbout Earth Vs. Aliens by T. Jackson King:

Jack Munroe grew up in the Asteroid Belt and learned to never take anything at face value. In space, you assume, you die. So when Aliens show up in the distant Kuiper Belt, out beyond Pluto, asking for a First Contact ‘chat’ with his crewmates on the comet hunting spaceship Uhuru, he warns his captain not to trust words but to get the heck away. His evolutionary biology studies have taught him that bright skin colors, shark-like teeth and talons mean these Aliens are star-traveling predators! But that violates the ‘feel good’ society promoted by Earth’s Unity government. A bloody fight ensues and Jack realizes these Aliens are keystone predators aiming to add Sol system to their home territory. Jack leads a battle to ensure Humans will never be slaves to Aliens. If someone has to die to make space safe for humanity, then those dying will be Aliens!

Author Bio:
T. Jackson King (Tom) is a professional archaeologist and journalist. He writes hard science fiction, anthropological SciFi, dark fantasy/horror and contemporary fantasy/magic realism–but that didn’t happen until he was 38.

Before then, college years spent in Paris and in Tokyo led Tom into antiwar activism, hanging out with some Japanese hippies and learning how often governments lie to their citizens. The latter lesson led him and a college buddy to publish the Shinjuku Sutra English language underground tabloid in Japan in 1967. That was followed by helping shut down the University of Tennessee at Knoxville campus in 1968 and a bus trip to Washington D.C. for the Second March on Washington where thousands demanded an end to the Vietnam War.

Temporary sanity returned when Tom worked in a radiocarbon lab at UC Riverside and earned an MA degree in Archaeology from UCLA. His interests in ancient history, ancient cultures and journalism got him several government agency jobs that paid the bills, led him to roam the raw landscape of the Western United States, and helped him and his wife Leslee raise three kids.

A funny thing happened on the way to normality. By the time he was 38 and doing federal arky work in Colorado, Tom’s first novel STAR TRADERS was a stage play in his head that wouldn’t go away. So he wrote it down. It got rejected. His next novel was published as RETREAD SHOP (Warner Books, 1988). It was off to the writing races and Tom’s many voyages of imaginative discovery have led to 14 published novels, a book of poetry, and a conviction that when Humans reach the stars, we will find them crowded with space-going Aliens. We will be the New Kids On The Block! This theme appears in much of Tom’s short fiction and novel writing.

Tom lives in Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA and hangs with a group of smart and tolerant Westerners. Divorce has taught him to smile a lot and to work at being a Nice Guy. Still, he is pretty weird. Has been since fourth grade when he began reading SciFi. Since then, he and Authority have rarely been in agreement.
