The Daughter of the Sea and the Sky by David Litwack

Daughter-eBook-CoverAbout The Daughter of the Sea and the Sky by David Litwack:

After centuries of religiously motivated war, the world has been split in two. Now the Blessed Lands are ruled by pure faith, while in the Republic, reason is the guiding light-two different realms, kept apart and at peace by a treaty and an ocean.

Children of the Republic, Helena and Jason were inseparable in their youth, until fate sent them down different paths. Grief and duty sidetracked Helena’s plans, and Jason came to detest the hollowness of his ambitions.

These two damaged souls are reunited when a tiny boat from the Blessed Lands crashes onto the rocks near Helena’s home after an impossible journey across the forbidden ocean. On board is a single passenger, a nine-year-old girl named Kailani, who calls herself The Daughter of the Sea and the Sky. A new and perilous purpose binds Jason and Helena together again, as they vow to protect the lost innocent from the wrath of the authorities, no matter the risk to their future and freedom.

But is the mysterious child simply a troubled little girl longing to return home? Or is she a powerful prophet sent to unravel the fabric of a godless Republic, as the outlaw leader of an illegal religious sect would have them believe? Whatever the answer, it will change them all forever… and perhaps their world as well.

Author Bio:
The urge to write first struck when working on a newsletter at a youth encampment in the woods of northern Maine. It may have been the night when lightning flashed at sunset followed by northern lights rippling after dark. Or maybe it was the newsletter’s editor, a girl with eyes the color of the ocean. But he was inspired to write about the blurry line between reality and the fantastic.

Using two fingers and lots of white-out, he religiously typed five pages a day throughout college and well into his twenties. Then life intervened. He paused to raise two sons and pursue a career, in the process becoming a well-known entrepreneur in the software industry, founding several successful companies. When he found time again to daydream, the urge to write returned.

He’s published three novels so far in this new stage of his life: There Comes a Prophet, Along the Watchtower, and the recently released The Daughter of the Sea and the Sky.

David and his wife split their time between Cape Cod, Florida and anywhere else that catches their fancy. He no longer limits himself to five pages a day and is thankful every keystroke for the invention of the word processor.

Diane Greenwood Muir knows a lot about a lot of things, but the one thing she knows best is great people. Growing up in small towns in the Midwest, she and her family experienced the best and worst of those people and her memories come from the best of them. Her books are filled with bits and pieces of stories and people from all of those memories. If you think they are too good to be true, you haven’t met the real people who fill the rural communities throughout the Midwest.

Diane’s family operated a small printing shop in Omaha for over twenty years and when it closed she began to hide out in a family cabin in Iowa in order to get her Master’s Degree and focus on writing. While there, she encountered people who were honest and caring again, reminding her of a life she’d forgotten in the city. Neighbors who watch out for each other, business people who believe in honesty before money and people who truly put others before themselves.

Gemma’s favorite desk accessories for many years were a circular wooden token, better known as a ’round tuit,’ and a slip of paper from a fortune cookie proclaiming her a lover of words; some day she’d write a book. All it took was a transfer to the United Kingdom, the lovely English springtime, and a huge dose of homesickness to write her first novel. Once it was completed and sent off with a kiss, even the rejections addressed to ‘Dear Author’ were gratifying.
After returning to America, she spent a number of years as a copywriter, dedicating her skills to making insurance and the agents who sell them sound sexy. Eventually, her full-time job as a writer interfered with her desire to be a writer full-time and she left the world of financial products behind to pursue an career as a romance author.

HUNTER: A Thriller

HUNTER-WSJ-TAGLINE-FINAL-UPLOAD-smallerAbout HUNTER: A Thriller:

#1 KINDLE BESTSELLER IN “MYSTERIES & THRILLERS” & “ROMANTIC SUSPENSE”
A WALL STREET JOURNAL “TOP 10″ NATIONAL BESTSELLER

WHO IS HUNTER? WHO IS PREY?
WHO WILL SURVIVE?

Award-winning true-crime author Robert Bidinotto makes his stunning fiction debut with a best-selling thriller that has earned more than 350 “5-star” rave reviews from Amazon readers.

Two people, passionately in love.
But each hides a deadly secret.
He is a crusading vigilante, on a violent quest for justice.
She is tracking this unknown assassin, sworn to stop him.
Neither realizes the truth about the other.
And neither knows that a terrifying predator is hunting them both. . . .

From its first gripping pages, HUNTER takes you on a nonstop thrill ride: from the top floor of the CIA, to the marbled corridors of Capitol Hill…from the posh hotels of downtown Washington, to the city’s mean, violent streets. It introduces a colorful new hero for our time–and a dazzling heroine every bit his equal.

A spy mystery…a crime thriller…a passionate romance: HUNTER is a genre-bending novel unlike any you’ve read. Deviously plotted, filled with vivid characters, and propelled at a breakneck pace, it’s a tale as memorable for its provocative ideas as for a rousing climax that has readers cheering.

If you enjoy the thrillers of Lee Child, Stephen Hunter, Brad Thor, and Vince Flynn, you’ll love HUNTER.

“One of the best vigilante thrillers since Clancy’s ‘Without Remorse’… HUNTER delivers in a way few thrillers do. From the opening kill shot to the climactic showdown, HUNTER strikes home with the power and pinpoint accuracy of a Barrett M99. A fantastic debut thriller… A solid five stars.”
–Stephen England, author, Pandora’s Grave, Day of Reckoning, Lodestone

“…a terrifically paced suspense novel with a killer premise…. If you’re a fan of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series, I suspect you’ll like HUNTER.”
–Randy Ingermanson, “America’s Mad Professor of Fiction Writing” and author, Writing Fiction for Dummies

“Please order a copy of Robert’s new thriller HUNTER if you want something that will keep you up at night turning pages.”
–Neil Russell, author, City of War, Wildcase, Beverly Hills Is Burning

“A joy…one of the great romances….To say that HUNTER is a well-structured novel is an understatement….Even the lesser characters are vividly realized [and] memorably etched with a few deft strokes. Bidinotto seems incapable of creating a cardboard figure….I demand a sequel. I want to return to the exhilarating moral atmosphere of Bidinotto’s story.”
–Roger Donway, The Atlasphere

“…pulse-pounding action, kick-ass characters, and a touch of romance….Bidinotto’s technique is near flawless… [O]n the same level as authors Tom Clancy, John Grisham, and James Patterson.”
–Allizabeth Collins, “The Paperback Pursuer”

“…all the elements of an exciting thriller–strong conflicts, romance, action, and characters you care about. I especially loved the concluding paragraph, and you will too. Buy it.”
–Larry Abrams, author, The Philosophical Practitioner

“I read the whole thing yesterday, to the exclusion of pretty much anything else….I LOVED the book.”
–Rose Robbins, author, In From the Cold, Continue As Jenyfer?, The Accidental Dragon

Author Bio:
All my life — since I watched “The Lone Ranger” and read Batman comics as a little kid in the Fifties and Sixties — I have been passionate about the principle of justice. It was the theme of my nonfiction work throughout my career as an investigative journalist, reviewer, blogger, and editor.

Now it’s become the central theme of my fiction-writing, too.

Like me, the hero of my Dylan Hunter thrillers is motivated by his passion for justice. He cannot walk away when injustices are committed against those he cares about. That’s why Dylan Hunter became a vigilante — why I refer to him as “the new face of justice” — and why I refer to myself as “The Vigilante Author.”

I adopted the “vigilante author” label from the theme of my bestselling 2011 thriller, HUNTER, a devious tale that centers around a wave of vigilante killings. Bridging and blending the crime and spy-fiction genres, and with a powerful love story at its heart, HUNTER draws upon my experiences as an investigative journalist writing true-crime books and articles. Selected as a Kindle “Editors’ Pick,” HUNTER soared to #4 on the Kindle Bestseller List, and to #1 in both “Mysteries & Thrillers” and “Romantic Suspense.” It also hit the Wall Street Journal’s “Top 10 Fiction Ebook” bestseller list.

The Dylan Hunter series continues in the hot-selling 2014 sequel, BAD DEEDS. A huge hit with HUNTER fans, it is maintaining a 4.9 out of a possible 5.0 Amazon customer rating.

As for my previous work: I’m editor of and chief contributor to the widely acclaimed “Criminal Justice? The Legal System vs. Individual Responsibility,” with a Foreword by John Walsh of TV’s “America’s Most Wanted.” I also wrote “Freed to Kill,” a compendium of horror stories that exposed the terrible failings of our legal system. Many of those hair-raising stories, as well as ones that I investigated while I was a Staff Writer for Reader’s Digest, served as the basis for HUNTER.

Prior to writing fiction I was perhaps best known for my article “Getting Away with Murder” in the July 1988 issue of the Digest. It stirred a national controversy about crime and prison furlough programs during the 1988 presidential election campaign, and it’s widely credited with having affected the outcome of the election. That article was honored as a 1989 National Magazine Award finalist by the American Society of Magazine Editors.

I also wrote investigative pieces on environmental scares and later lectured and wrote extensively about environmentalism. This interest served as the basis for my thriller BAD DEEDS.

My previous work also earned the Free Press Association’s Mencken Award for “Best Feature Story,” as well as other awards and honors from the National Victim Center and victim rights organizations, for my outspoken public advocacy on behalf of crime victims. As a magazine editor, I received the prestigious Folio Gold “Eddie” Award in 2007, for editorial excellence — the magazine industry’s highest honor.

My articles, essays, columns, book and film reviews have appeared in Success, Writer’s Digest, The Boston Herald, The American Spectator, and many other journals. I’ve appeared on scores of radio and television talk shows, and I’ve lectured before campus, civic, business, and public affairs organizations throughout North America and in Europe.

Today, I live on the Chesapeake Bay with my talented musician wife, Cynthia, and our stridently individualistic cat, Luna (who plays a supporting role in the Dylan Hunter thrillers). There, in a home suspiciously similar to one described in the novels, I am busily at work plotting the further exploits of Dylan Hunter.

I enjoy communicating with readers. You’re welcome to contact me at: RobertTheWriter@gmail.com. And please visit my blog, “The Vigilante Author” (www.bidinotto.com).

No More Butterflies by Claire Smith

NMB-new-proofAbout No More Butterflies by Claire Smith:

No More Butterflies is an emotional roller coaster ride, combining an enduring love story with heartbreaking reality. It is a gritty, fast paced tale of manipulation, rejection, abuse, love, honour and friendship. Having faced them all our heroine Emma learns to stand on her own two feet, damaged but determined and still capable of giving her all for what she believes to be right.

This surprisingly uplifting psychological drama, with dark moments and romantic overtones, deals with the subjects of domestic psychological, physical and sexual abuse and the lasting damage these do to their victims.

It covers twelve years in the lives of two initially unconnected girls, Emma and Helen, both the victims of some form of abuse and the very different consequences this abuse has to both their lives.

There are some dark and tragic moments as Emma stumbles from one emotional or physical disaster to the next from the ages of sixteen to twenty-eight. Ultimately it is the realisation of all her clichéd romantic dreams which provides her with the trigger she desperately needs to enable her to take control of her own life. It makes her realise the only way to no longer be a victim is to stop relying on others for emotional and physical stability and to stand on her own two feet. It gives her the courage to face her fears and to do what is right for her daughter.

Helen, on the other hand, uses abuse as a weapon with which to defend herself from a world she can not understand. In reality the abuse she has suffered is difficult to define and the line between legitimate psychological damage and inbuilt character traits is blurred.

The two girls’ lives come together with devastating effects.

One reviewer gave it five stars saying “…with an ending to rival the ending of ‘The Notebook’.”

So when you read this book, lock yourself away with a box of tissues because you won’t be able to put it down and so far nobody has managed to get to the end without crying.

Claire Smith is 46 and lives in Sale, South Manchester, England. Since childhood she loved to read and soon graduated from The Famous Five, through Swallows and Amazons to Jacqueline Suzanne and Jackie Collins in her teens. In her twenties she discovered such writers as Tom Clancy, Frederick Forsyth, Clive Cussler, Wilbur Smith and Robert Ludlum to name but a few. However, it was not one of these greats who inspired Claire to write. It was a series of dreadful books by several someones she can’t remember which prompted her to make real the notion “I could do better than this…” So “No More Butterflies” began. It took several years to write, with children, home life, husband and job all getting in the way at some point or other but eventually it was finished. Published for the first time on kindle in May 2013 and as a paperback in January 2014, the reviews so far have been very encouraging. So much so in fact that Claire has now written and published her second book, A Storm Rising, also available as an eBook and in paperback. Claire’s third book, second in the Storm series is well under way. For the past 25 years Claire has worked as an accountant, which she hated, but has recently quit to become a full time writer, which she loves.

When Heather Pich, Author, Mentor/Training launched her direct sales business on a whim 11 years ago she originally intended to dabble in it. With 3 small children, 7, 7 and 9, and a busy interior design business, she never even imagined where this would take her.

Heather has won numerous awards over the years, was asked to be a national conference speaker at her companies convention only 3 years into her business. She was in the top 10 ten nationally for sponsorships 3 years in a row, won numerous all-expense paid trips to exotic places, was # 14 out 25,000 reps to earn her companies prestigious “Legacy Award” which was for $500,000 dollars in sales and over 100 sponsorships into a business in her 7th year and then 2 separate times was asked to write her own class and train at their national convention to 3,000 plus women. Many more accomplishments followed these. It was one of these classes that prompted her to write the book “Bookings when you have no bookings” Heather was highly successful in this area of direct sales and wrote a class that had women coming up to her years later at conferences, trips and company events explaining to her, “You don’t know me but I took your class and I use the principals you taught and they work! Thank you so much” When Heather began hearing this enough, she decided that she couldn’t keep this valuable information to herself. It was time to send out it to the masses and so “Booking when you have no bookings” became a published ebook and can be found at www.instantlybooked.com , Amazon books and more.

Cassandra Elliott is a billionaire heiress, who has just come out of the closet. She’s also a powerful psychic who has seen incredible and terrifying things. In fact, just two weeks ago, she and her girlfriend Julie Cloudfoot, survived a horrific battle alongside their two friends Alex Hill and Veronica Ross. They faced a being from a parallel reality where evolution took a much different course than in this version of Earth.

As a result of that encounter the two of them have come to Santa Cruz to bury one of their own as well as to see if their knew relationship will work out.

While taking a surfing class Cassie finds herself under attack and barely escapes with her life. But this is only the beginning. Whatever attacked her left a mark on her leg and now she is experiencing terrifying visions and senses the approach of something hiding in the fog. A legendary ghost ship is coming for her. However this is no ordinary nightmare of the sea. This vessel is alive and wants to make her a part of it, literally…
