There was a time when I hesitated to write about anything and every writer goes through this in the beginning. Could I do this, and should I make an attempt? Many old doubts concerning the practical nature of a writing career have thankfully disappeared. What’s practical about following the crowd and not doing what your heart tells you to do? You can summarize me as a mother, a wife and a full-time worker, so much of the time in my day is already accounted for. But the free time I do have is spent exploring new worlds, whether through other author’s work, or through creating them in my own work. Like many, I became a fan of great fantasy and sci-fi series, that started when I fell in love with the Harry Potter book series. From that point, it seemed I couldn’t get enough fantasy in my life. It was one moment while reading the first book in the Hunger Games series that I realized, I should try it myself. I love reading about these characters and worlds that other incredible authors have created, so why not try it myself.Graduating with a B.A. in Anthropology, I did not intend to pursue creative writing. But after years of struggle post-graduation to find work in my field, only to end up punching numbers at a bank, I was inspired to do something that was very special to me(though it took me a while to figure this out) – writing!
Now I am a self-published author of The Raven Dreams. I have plans for many more books already. I only hope that my book can be what books like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Game of Thrones are to me – a welcome escape into an adventurous story.
