Nothing that comes out as new, hasn’t been covered in the past. It`s almost impossible to write about a completely new topic. However, the only new that can be added is the style, blending of words and message transmission. I can only count on these techniques to make and influence.

There are too many things that bother me, so slowly I`ll introduce you to all the corners of my mind. I felt the need to pass on my thoughts, maybe as motivation as certain times.

When I first started publishing my work I was amazed at how often reviewers, newspaper editors, and even readers, discounted my accomplishment because I chose to self publish. I felt like I had created something special, and my readers seemed to agree, but even my hometown newspaper declined to put anything in their little bitty newspaper because I didn’t have the backing of a traditional publishing house. I was frustrated because I was their hometown girl who had made good, and they had no interest.

Through the fall I was invited to several local author events, and met a number of other small press and indie press writers who were feeling the same dismissal by the establishment. It bothered me even more as I started reading other small press and indie writers, I realized that we were all creating something of value, even if it didn’t fit the main stream of mass production.

It was during that time that I decided to highlight some of the writers I was reading and enjoying, and Gallion Picks was started. I try to review two or three small press or indie published book each month and share them to my little circle of readers and friends. The authors can share my reviews on their social media and a little buzz happens.

I’ve always been an avid reader, so it’s a natural thing for me to add a little review as I read. Maybe somebody out there, who didn’t know about me, will see one of my reviews and take the time to check out my books as well. It’s a win for everybody.
