My first ever job was working in hospice care, looking after people who were dying of cancer. After that I moved into forensic psychiatry in a secure-unit and eventually went on to work in a therapeutic community for emotionally disturbed children and later at a further education college for learning disabled young adults. I have also facilitated sexual abuse survivor groups, spent a short time doing volunteer work in Nicaraguan prisons and some significant time helping to set up a project providing trauma counselling for Chechnyan refugee children in Russia.
I started writing for teen and young adult females because when I was a young adult myself, there was nothing out there I wanted to read – so I thought I’d better write it for myself! I feature strong heroines who rarely take the passive option.

Tralandice Hogan was born in Quincy, Illinois. She lived with her grandmother for a few years and then relocated to Peoria, IL, where she spent a majority of her years growing up. She attended Peoria Central High School before dropping out in the 10th grade while pregnant. Tralandice embarked on the road of being an entrepreneur and tried many different businesses from gift baskets to a candle store that unfortunately failed soon after. By 2010 Tralandice was a single mother of two children and receiving food and medical help from the government to make ends meet.
