What You Don’t Know About Joy
About What You Don’t Know About Joy:
What You Don’t Know About Joy proposes that when things are right with God, things are right in life. This principle requires a consistent set of values to guide you to greater happiness and satisfaction in a hostile world. But can Jesus give practical advice to help you wrestle with the conflicts of the world today? Yes, if you let Jesus be Jesus. When griefs come knocking, he’s as close to you as your skin. He brings joy to a life crushed by hardship and loss, and love to a heart that hungers for peace and happiness. His joy provides a blueprint for you to draw comparisons between how you see yourself today against how you want to be for the rest of your life. Specific chapters challenge you to fill life with random acts of love; to stop acting religious and grow spiritually; to learn how great love and great risks complement each other; to convert a sluggish life into a spectacular life; to take God’s advice even when you know better; to use your talents to the best of your ability; and to get the most out of life before it’s all gone. The chapters are not only appropriate for individuals who set aside 20-30 minutes for reflection and encouragement, but provide an interesting, down-to-earth compendium of life principles. Your bonus is that the book is targeted for an easy read to present Jesus’ wisdom in a contemporary style with a sprinkling of humor to help lighten the load in life. Don’t miss out on this first book in the It’s Okay to Laugh with Jesus series.

Author Bio:
My name is Wayne Bartelt, a freelance writer with Master Degrees in History and Divinity and twenty one years in the preaching ministry. My writing credits include a weekly newspaper column, magazine articles, and three published books, Voices from Jesus’ Passion, and Talk to Me, God . . . I’m Confused, and What You Don’t Know About Joy. I am the author of Discovering the Path of Joy and currently have a series of four books titled It’s Okay to Laugh with Jesus.
I publish a Christian Inspiration blog, An Abundance of Joy (http://anabundanceofjoy.wordpress.com), every Monday morning, rain, shine, or foggy, and will as long as God grants me time and stamina. Since my retirement, I have made the study of Jesus Christ’s life and humor the cornerstone of my activities.
I want my readers to have fun, get inspired, and laugh with me. Christianity is the only religion in this world where you can laugh and cry in the middle of the same sentence, and be serious about both. I think Jesus had a smile on his face most of the time, and he’s in charge here.
It is just a rumor that my wife locks me in my study at 5 am every morning and releases me only for lunch, supper and bedtime. If I hear a click in the door and it’s only 3:30 pm, I’ll know the house is on fire.
Light of a New Day by Damian Light
About Light of a New Day by Damian Light:
Hamilton seeks a break from the ordinary hum drum world of life; such as the office ridden life he lives in the city of Erotica, a twisted name for an immoral and gradually degredated place, where corporations seek dominion over the people through the use of military and propaganda. His health and his way of rebelling is all that he has. However, when his boss catches him in a rebellious state that endangers workers’ lives, he is fired. Upon being let go, he retreats to a cabin in the woods for solidarity. While away on his trip, he finds out that the world has been vacated, and has been invaded by a zombie illness and a legion of alien races bent on battling for the fate of earth. Hamilton Key escapes numerous times, an army not of this world, and he cannot tell which world they are from. He eventually escapes to a land of mermaids and then to solidarity, only to find another way of life on the other side of the planet. He tours the outer and inward space realms to seal the earth from darkness and hell, hoping to get back to his old way of life, of just going to work everyday. Light of a New Day is a thriller that will drive your mind wild with mystery, suspense and fury at the injustice of intergalactic warfare being done on your own world.

Priest Kid
Priest Kid tells the story of Sarah McCartney, the daughter of an female Episcopal priest. Throughout her life, Sarah has idolized her mother, longed for her mother’s attention, wanted to be her mother. Until, studying psychology in San Francisco, she meets and falls in love with a gender queer radical who doesn’t believe in monogamy. She begins to realize that her competition with her mother’s parishioners has far too much in common with her current competition with her partner’s other lovers. So she finds herself reluctantly returning home, desperately in need of her mother’s help, and newly resentful of every aspect of her mother’s life as a priest.
To make things worse, her lover, sensing that Sarah is pulling away, shows up in Iowa. And, of course, hits it off with Sarah’s mother like there’s no tomorrow. Sarah looks for comfort from her father, the quintessential nice Midwest guy, but when it comes to polyamory and someone cheating on his daughter, he wants to kick the girl back to San Francisco and keep Sarah where he knows she’ll be safe.
As her parents begin to wonder how they’ve failed her, Sarah must make the hardest of decisions—will she lose the only person she’s ever loved? Or will she lose the respect of the mother whose strength she’s always wanted to emulate?

Author Bio:
Lyralen Kaye, MFA Sarah Lawrence College, is a multi-genre writer. And when she can’t get enough of a story–as with Priest Kid–she’ll write it from different points-of-view in different formats. Priest Kid is a short novel based on the Meryl Streep Writing Screenplay Lab award winner Saint John the Divine in Iowa. The screenplay tells the story of the mother, Priest Kid is about the daughter. Saint John the Divine in Iowa was also a critically acclaimed play at its world premier in Boston, and was a finalist for the Roy W. Dean Award and the Pride Plays and Films Award.
And, in 2016, RUN FROM FIRE, Kaye’s feminist thriller, was a finalist for the Half the World Literati Award.
Other awards include the 2002 Lipkin Prize in Playwriting, The Boston Amazon Poetry Super Slam Finals, a finalist for the 2005 Massachusetts Council of the Arts Award, a Pushcart nomination.
When Lyralen isn’t writing, she’s acting. She was in the rom-com 27 Dresses as Katherine Heigl’s gong-banging yoga teacher and most recently played Maria Dizzia’s (Orange is the New Black) mother. She’s played moms and psycho killers, ambitious psychiatrists and mentally ill philanthropists, an upper class ditz and a lesbian cop. She prides herself on being willing to try anything once. Or twice. Three times within reason.
Lyralen also directs theater–she gets together with groups of people, gets them to tell their stories, and then constructs a group narrative. She’s worked with boys and men, immigrants and teens, with text-based plays and movement based short projects.
As if this wasn’t enough, she’s also been a yoga teacher, a writing and acting teacher, a meditation practitioner. She ran with the bulls in Pamplona and taught English in Tokyo. She worked in the inner city to help failing schools, marched on Washington a few times, and created the multicultural event SLAMBoston, Diverse Voices in Theatre.
Currently, she splits her time between Toronto, Boston and New York.
