CAVERNS by Judy Griffith Gill
About CAVERNS by Judy Griffith Gill
“The perfect place to build a settlement?” Though this far planet they now call home after their accidental arrival presents many perils, all Earth Space Fleet Admiral Joe Storn is certain he’s finally found a secure home for his exploratory troop. Until the redcats come. Until winter and summer extremes drive the Dirtsider Troop underground. Until none of his people, bodies strengthened by powerful nanobots, show any signs of aging. Until too many, wearied by their longevity, start dying by their own hand. Then, he must finally agree, after three-and-a-half centuries, life is not perfect. Is the only solution to attempt the long and dangerous trek back to where the worst of all dangers may be–the Ship’s Valley where his fleet landed? He and his people escaped because the self-appointed Committee of Captains wanted them all dead. What if, despite the odds, that Committee did create a viable society? Dare he risk returning? When the woman he loves and his best friend both claim they’ve been in mental communication with a mysterious being who calls herself Meesh-toh, he refuses to believe the possibility. But someone, or something, the Meesh-toh calls “the new ones” need help, Joe cannot refuse. After all this time, has someone else finally arrive on the planet? No matter what he must do to ensure his troop’s safety, he’ll do it or die trying. But… will the personal sacrifice be too much for even a man of his physical, mental, and emotional strength to withstand?

Author Bio:
Judy, a proud member of Novelists, Inc, a professional organization for writers of popular fiction was first published in the late 1970s. While maintaining her affection for the work of authors Anne McCaffrey, Robert A. Heinlein, and others, for years, she wrote romances of varying degrees of heat from “Let your fourteen-year-old read it” to “Wrap it in a plain, brown cover and hide it in your headboard.” The large majority of her work, however, was in between those two extremes. Eventually, though, her affection for Science Fiction/Paranormal began creeping into her romance stories, starting with a dead elderly aunt who jangles her bangles to alert others to her interfering presence; a nanny who turns out to be an elf with some extraordinary habits; a genie who washes up on a beach inside a plastic gas-can, his fancy bottle having broken in a storm; a man visiting from a far realm with the mental powers to draw a straight-laced woman into an adventure like she’d never dreamed of; an Earth damaged by weaponized bio-organic diseases; and another man from a future Earth who made life incredibly rewarding for a woman in that “plain brown cover and hide it in your headboard” book.
With her “Let’s play with mental abilities” genes tickling her imagination, she ventured into a novel, REFUGE, where children with special gifts such as teleportation, telepathy, telekinesis, and other such talents are in peril because the ruling body is terrified of them. That novel somehow required another one, LIFELINE, written as prequel as sequel, then a third, DIRTSIDERS, another prequel because she was having so much fun on the planet where her characters had landed purely by mischance. Never one to leave well-enough alone, Judy carried on at her characters’ insistence and wrote CAVERNS, where the whole series is tied together in the end. While each of the books in the Chronicles of Storn can be read as a stand-alone, most people want, having finished CAVERNS, to check out the preceding novels. But don’t feel obliged—though REFUGE, 2nd Edition. Book 1, is free in most digital formats.
After many years of military life, both in Europe and different parts of Canada, during which they raised two beautiful daughters, the family returned to Judy’s home, BC, Canada’s westernmost province. The girls finished growing up on BC’s Sunshine Coast, married and began delighting the couple with grandchildren. Despite that, fifteen years of living in one house, they developed desperately itchy feet. This led to a decade and a half of winters exploring Costa Rica and other parts of Central America from their little house in the jungle on the Caribbean side.
Judy and her long-suffering husband now live permanently on the Sunshine Coast where, as of this writing, it is currently raining. But that’s what keep the grass and trees green. When it’s not raining or blowing too hard (and sometimes when it is) the couple ventures out in their 34’ cabin cruiser, sometimes for weeks at a time, finding neat little anchorages up and down the coast and now and then dipping south into Puget Sound in Washington State to visit family and friends. Kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, eating fresh Dungeness crabs, prawns, clams, oysters, and making delicious chowders from almost any seafood available provide great pleasure. For more leisurely times, she loves reading books and writing reviews, editing other writers’ work, and doing crossword puzzles. Her laptop always accompanies her wherever she goes because a new idea is never far away.

Lynda Wilcox’s first piece of published writing was a poem in the school magazine. In her twenties she wrote Pantomime scripts for Amateur Dramatic groups and was a founder member of The Facts of Life, a foursome who wrote and performed comedy sketches for radio. Now she concocts fantasy stories for older children (10-13) and writes funny whodunits for adults.
Lynda lives in a small town in England, in an untidy house with four ageing computers and her (equally ageing but very supportive) husband. She enjoys pottering in the garden where she grows brambles, bindweed and nettles along with roses and lilies. Oh! And slugs! Slugs that feed well on everything but the brambles and weeds.
Most of all, she loves to write — it gets her out of doing the housework.
She also reads a lot and enjoys good food and wine.

Magic Carpet Ride: A Badass Hippie Tale by Leslie Smith Dow
About Magic Carpet Ride: A Badass Hippie Tale by Leslie Smith Dow:
Combine sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and throw in a little S & M. Mix with a healthy shot of death–and bingo! Things can get out of hand before you can say “qualudes.”
Magic Carpet Ride takes you from your front door to the bad-boy backseat of a 1970s Cadilac Fleetwood–and then some, with characters like Bong Hey Zeus, Mick Mack MacGyver and the long-suffering Bridget, who just wants to light up and make them all go a way.
The Badass Hippie Tales series is a kind of rock ’n’ roll homage to the bawdy humour of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, an antidote to the smarmy feel-goodness of The Vinyl Cafe, and a reminder to Rolling Stone magazine of gonzo journalism’s once-glorious past. Brace yourselves, we’re going on a politically incorrect Magic Carpet Ride through the Voodoo Vortex, complete with forbidden sex in an ashram, lethal doses of chemical pick-me-ups, accompanied by an unforgettable 60s and 70s soundtrack.
Jump onto the magic carpet for a little trip around Bridget’s home town: “This morning’s edition of The Casket had contained some incredible news. Mick Mac MacGyver’s 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood was for sale.
“At least four can serenely trip out in the back seat. Anything more, er, athletic requires the other two non-participating passengers to bump up front into first class. Serious enquiries only. Apply within.”
The Mick Mac — so named because no one could agree whether the car should be affectionately dubbed the Fleetwood Mac or the Mick Fleetwood—was as legendary as a car could be in these parts. Half the town had lost their virginity in its capacious back seat. The other half had been conceived there. A surprising number of townsfolk had actually been born in the thing….”
The three short stories which so far make up the Badass Hippie Tales–The Grateful Dead, Magic Carpet Ride, and Voodoo Vortex– contain many strange happenings that many people would never believe–but some of us know to be oh so true!

The Original Pink Collar Workers
About The Original Pink Collar Workers:
What is it like for a woman to do a man’s work, and do it better? That’s what the first pink collar workers had to learn when they set down their skillets and aprons to pick up welding torches, hammers or rivet guns while the men fought to keep this country free during World War II. Then those men came back home, and they had to work with them day in and day out.
But for their daughters and granddaughter the war in the workplace between men and women still goes on over three decades later. However, now the enemy is vastly different. It’s an unseen force of lust, alcoholism, and sex while several of the women need to band together in sisterhood. They’ve been caught up in espionage, intrigue and attempted murder– and whoever is sabotaging the planes that they’re building. Could it be the supervisor, a former employee.. or the person they work with everyday?
During all these great concerns our gals still need to earn a paycheck, and do anything to get that damned plane built…well, almost anything.
This is about six twenty-something gals who laugh and love together under the headship of a down-home black Southern lead woman. You’ll find some great laugh-out-loud humor as well as big tearjerkers in this story as these gals many times struggle through their work-a-day jobs. It’s more of an effort for some of the single ones who are working undercover to find the traitor they are working with, one of these is of royal blood.
