Jason E. Hamilton was a film lighting technician in 2001 when he met his wife, Sylvie Mazerolle while working on a film in Saint John, New Brunswick. After a six-month long distance relationship, she moved to Toronto where the couple cemented their relationship.

Two days before Christmas in 2007 the couple received some startling news: Sylvie was pregnant with their first (and only) child.

In 2010 the couple sold their house in Toronto, quit show business and made the permanent move to New Brunswick. The challenge was chronicled in Mr. Hamilton’s debut non-fiction book “Life, the Yurt and Everything” which he published in 2013.
