Daniel E. Arias, was born in 1953 in Buenos Aires, and underwent his primary education in one of those English schools that are frozen in time, where they continued to talk about the British Empire into the 1960s. His secondary education was undertaken in the Buenos Aires Colegio Nacional, whose long list of students and ex-alumni murdered or disappeared from the 1970s onwards bears testimony to a certain aversion to empires in general and the British one in particular.

Therefore, in matters relating to the Falklands, Arias suffers from double vision. As a young man he financed his degree in Literature at the University of Buenos Aires by teaching English – amongst many other jobs – and did ten years classroom teaching before becoming a scientific journalist.
As such, he worked for all the big newspapers in the metropolitan area including Clarín, La Razón, and Perfil, as well as for innumerable, and less mainstream, magazines and radio and TV stations. He won several locally-important prizes, including two TEA s and also the Kónex. He currently writes for La Nación.

He has published three books: Dinosaurios (Norma, Buenos Aires, 2001, a novel), Argentina mirada y pensada (Lunwerg-Planeta, Barcelona, 2008, a “coffee table” book) and Eternidad maldita (Alfaguara, Serie Roja, Buenos Aires, 2009, a novel).
