CoverartArtAbout Ragdoll and the Curse of the Magi by S.D. Engles

Cloth and Canvas, Stitches and Magic
Doll is not your average rag doll… if you consider a five-foot tall, walking, talking, patchwork girl to be average, that is.
She doesn’t know where she came from nor who made her. When she isn’t cooking, cleaning, or doing anything else the Tanbury twins throw at her, our stitched up servant girl can usually be found alone in her attic room reading or staring out the window, imagining a life beyond her four walls. She doesn’t sleep, but she dreams of a past she can’t remember, a family she can’t recall, and visions of a bearded old man.
Her world is about to become a whole lot bigger when one stormy night, dark creatures creep out of the shadows and threaten her existence, only to be thwarted by the efforts of a mysterious tabby cat. Suddenly her life is turned upside down as she’s led on an adventure full of monstrous insects, cackling witches, and the broken shadow of a man with dark intentions… But all is not hopeless, as along the way she also finds friends and a magical city full of endless possibilities.
Will Doll find the answers she is seeking? Will she escape the darkness chasing her and help lift the curse from her new found friends? Or will she discover a deeper secret she cannot bear?

The Thirteen Treasures of Britain

thirteen bookAbout The Thirteen Treasures of Britain:

*On sale for $0.99 from November 17 until November 30*

1,400 years is a long time to be asleep. Even for a wizard. Especially for a wizard who has to stop an ancient prophesy from coming true.

By the time Merlin wakes up from his enchanted sleep, it’s 1985, the legendary Thirteen Treasures of Britain are missing, and his magic is starting to fade.

To make matters worse, in twelve days’ time, it will be Midsummer’s Eve: the prophesied day when the old gods will return to Britain and wreak havoc on its people. If the Treasures fall into the wrong hands, the gods will rise, thousands will die, and Britain will be utterly transformed by chaos.

In the old days — the days of Camelot and King Arthur — Merlin would’ve sent someone else on the quest for the Treasures. But now, with time running out and everything at stake, he’s ready to take up the quest himself.

The search for the Treasures will take him from the realms of Faerie to the Land of Dreams, and from the streets of Glastonbury to the distant reaches of the solar system, where he’ll meet friends and foes alike, including Arthur Pendragon, Morgana Le Fay, and a panther-like creature called the Cath Palug — the “slashing cat” with a taste for king’s blood.

You Never Come Home

You_Never_Come_Home_Cover_for_KindleAbout You Never Come Home:

Bob is training in a Shoto-kan black belt sparring class when he suffers a Myocardial Infarction. He undergoes an out-of-body experience and sees himself in a military C-130 surrounded by coffins filled with his comrades. He awakens to find himself paralyzed in a Veterans Hospital ICU, unable to communicate with his family and friends. He begins to relive his life, the 1940’s and 50’s in East
Harlem, his Jesuit teachers, the constant love of his Italian immigrant parents, and his bad-boy Mafioso nemesis who plays him for a sucker for decades. He follows his life plan, trains to be a dentist, enlists in the Navy and marries a good California girl.
The Navy trains Bob for Mass Casualty and in 1966 sends him to Quang Tri Province to serve as the only dentist to the First Marines Air Wing. He bonds with two pals: Corky, a career pilot who shares his religious convictions, and Brown, an African American Corpsman from Cleveland, who remains his closest friend for life. Aimee, a French-Vietnamese girl smuggles her wounded little brother onto the base for dental treatment. She develops a close relationship with Corky and becomes an informant to the Americans, but she is discovered, beaten, viciously raped and left for dead by the Viet Cong. Corky and Bob manage to get her to a refuge in Da Nang for treatment.
Bob and Brown sign for another Tour of Duty, are promoted and sent as a team to Da Nang, where they are reunited with Aimee, who becomes their interpreter as they venture into nearby villages to provide dental treatment as part of the Johnson Pacification Program.
Bob and Brown are honorably discharged in late 1969 and sent back to the States, burdened by the ghosts of so many lost friends. Brown becomes a homeless vagrant, and neither of them can escape their feelings of guilt at being alive with the war raging on. Bob finds his wife’s affections annoying, suspicious that she has had an affair with his childhood nemesis, now a Made Man. Bob tells his toddler daughter horrible bedtime stories of the mistakes that he made in Nam, and when a clever conman talks Bob into spending his life savings on a dilapidated restaurant instead of setting up a dental practice, a divorce is inevitable. Bob discovers Brown again and hires him as his bartender and night watchman. With the help of an extended Mexican immigrant family, Bob and Brown turn the restaurant into an artistic success, which leads to a extremely violent confrontation between Bob, the conman lawyer and his secret partner, Bob’s childhood Mafioso enemy.
Bob comes out of the coma with his short term memory gone. His grown daughter helps him learn to do the simplest things again, but now he has a chance to change his life and to reunite with Aimee, who has become an American newscaster.

Author Bio:
Karen was born in a small town in Staffordshire, England. By the age of ten, Karen, an avid reader, had written her first book – a fantasy adventure story involving time travel. Later, as a teenager, after having read every book by her then favourite author – John Wyndham, Karen began to read more widely, eagerly devouring books by Stephen King, Tolkien, James Herbert, Conan Doyal, and H. G. Wells. It was around that time that she developed what would become a life-long fascination with the workings of the human mind – particularly the criminal mind.

After leaving college, Karen worked for nine years with the Norfolk Police Force before gaining a first degree in Bio-Psychological Sciences and later, a Masters in Psychological and Medical Sciences. Karen went on to teach Psychology at Local Colleges for over fifteen years.

Karen writes Fantasy, Speculative, and Crime Fiction. Her début novel ‘Ascension of the Whyte,’ an acclaimed, magical fantasy, was the first book in the ‘The Afterland Chronicles’ series. The second book, ‘Ryte of Passage,’ was published in May 2016, and the final book in the trilogy – ‘Ice and Fyre’ is due for publication in 2017. Karen is also in the process of completing ‘The Last Girl Guide,’ a Dystopian YA novel, and her first crime novel ‘The Cuckoo Killer’.

Karen has two daughters and lives in a small cottage in Norfolk, England with her husband John, their crazy dog Jinks, and Pippin, their remarkably lazy cat.

In 2015, after the success of Ascension of the Whyte, Karen gave up teaching in order to write professionally. Authors live or die by their reader’s reviews. So if you enjoyed her books and you would like to support a new and upcoming writer, then the best way is to leave an honest review. Your feedback and support are much appreciated.

Author Bio:
Author Christopher Hepworth has been a professional negotiator for over thirty years, with some of the largest and best-known companies in the world. He has won numerous prestigious awards in his chosen profession of procurement and developed many of the strategies and techniques that are now widely used across the industry. He has spent half a lifetime working for an array of colourful captains of industry, some inspirational; others downright terrifying. He often wonders how these desk warriors would cope if they were confronted with real-life, world threatening global emergencies rather than plotting their own narrow-minded corporate agendas. With the magic of fiction, Christopher Hepworth has created a wonderful set of characters he hopes will put the fear of God into his readers, adding to the list of threats already facing humanity.

Born in the UK in 1961 and raised in Zambia in central Africa like his hero, Wilbur Smith, Christopher Hepworth now lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife, Anne and four children. Much of the spare time he finds for writing comes while watching his children play representative cricket. It’s amazing how many sentences can be written in between the fall of wickets.

The exotic characters in his books reflect his fascination with the charismatic and proud, but often maligned warrior nations around the world, whose stories are screaming to be told. In his books, Christopher Hepworth’s desk-bound corporate warriors come face to face with those proud peoples, who have suffered the misfortunes of fate and history but their dignity and aspirations remain intact.

Christopher Hepworth has created a new brand of hero for the twenty-first century. Like James Bond, or the lawyers of John Grisham’s thrillers, Sam Jardine must use his occupational skills to thwart the ambitions of ruthless villains who seek to subordinate the world with their depraved sense of moral values. Armed only with a sense of justice, respect for ancient warrior cultures and an extraordinary talent for negotiation, can he win the day or will he be engulfed in the cesspit of corporate politics? For the sake of world peace, let’s hope Sam Jardine is up to the task.
