Run From The Shadow by James McJunkin
About Run From The Shadow by James McJunkin
More than 63 million people around the world today are refugees, displaced from their homes by the dark shadow of evil. These unfortunate people, whether victims of war, violence, persecution, or of intolerable economic plight, all have a story to tell. This powerful and inspiring story, based on the actual experiences of a young African family who fled from that “shadow of evil,” is one of those incredible stories. Their 17,000 mile journey from “Death to Life,” is an amazing triumph of Christian faith, courage, and perseverance. As we walk with them through this valley of death, we have the opportunity to share their fears, understand their motivation, and to test our own convictions. As we formulate our views regarding the contemporary immigration question in our country, we may find it difficult to reconcile our moral conscience with the practical consequences of these important decisions. This book does not attempt to provide the answer, but hopefully, will provide a useful perspective for thoughtful consideration.

Author Bio:
I was born in England and grew up near Boston, Massachusetts. With a doctorate in English, I taught at CUNY and then spent many years writing for corporations, creating books on network management systems, virtual protocols, and military surveillance software. (Who knew!) But during those years, writing books and stories, especially fantasy, mystery, and science fiction, was my passion.
My short stories have appeared in Thrice Fiction, Kzine, Mad Scientist Journal, Over My Dead Body!, NewMyths, Aurora Wolf, and T. Gene Davis’s Speculative Blog, among others. I have also been a ghostwriter, published a book on environmental management, and created an online workbook on soul development for the A.R.E. in Virginia Beach. In the spring of 2012 I was a finalist in the Hollywood SCRIPTOID Screenwriter’s Feature Challenge for my script about a mother seeking the disabled child she had abandoned, in “Second Chances.” In October 2016 my precious book MARI was a finalist in the ListenUp Audiobook competition.
When not writing, I follow my fascination for reading mysteries, watching film noir and 1950s science fiction B-grade (often C-grade) movies, visiting Neolithic sites, absorbing biographies of writers like a sponge, and feeling reverence for all wildlife. I have a brilliant, very green (and talkative) eclectus parrot named Harry.
After working on both coasts, in Texas, and overseas, I call the historic and beautiful Hudson River Valley region my home now, and it pleases me no end to live not very far from where Rod Serling grew up and Jane Roberts encountered Seth. I like (love) coffee, chocolate, and fairy lights…and trees…reading the Transcendentalists…listening to Bach and Aaron Copland and Adele, and just about all music from the Renaissance…and good conversation with strangers and friends alike.

Beacon by November Ellison
About Beacon by November Ellison:
Free Kindle Download: November 20, 2016 – November 24, 2016
Pastor Joanna Benally leads a double life. On the outside, she’s dedicated to the work of turning around troubled churches. But inside, she is lonely and unfulfilled, keeping everyone at arm’s length to hide the shameful secrets of her past.
When Jo is sent to Newark, Ohio, on church business, she is knocked off her feet by a handsome redheaded young man who claims he is Cain, history’s oldest murderer—and a vampire. He’s taken it upon himself to butcher sinners, sadistically using his telepathic abilities to enjoy his victims’ terror and pain. As Jo struggles with the ethical dilemma of how to respond to this murderer, Cain slowly dismantles her carefully constructed isolation.
Then, when Jo kills two men in self-defense, an unexpected chain of events ushers her into a reality she never imagined possible. She learns she’s a “beacon,” a genetically marked vessel for the magnetic power that enables vampires to feed off of humans.
As danger and betrayal emerge in unexpected places and the line between good and evil blurs, Jo must choose between the truth of radical love and the safety of false appearances.

COLORS OF MY SOUL by Peggy Chan
About COLORS OF MY SOUL by Peggy Chan
Colors of My Soul is a collection of poems that captures poignant moments in life and paints the colors of emotions: the colors of happiness and joy of rekindled love, the conflict and despair so familiar to those who are betrayed, the pain of loss, grief in the face of death, sorrow and solitude, the anxieties of a mother watching her child grow. Peggy shows us the human psyche that soars in the joy of love rekindled and plummets in the agony of betrayal, that trembles in grief and despair and ponders in hope for the future. Such emotions are familiar to people who live, love and hope.
Peggy’s poetry also shares general observations of life and death as perceived by the poetic consciousness.
Be enchanted by Peggy as she takes you down her poetry garden, a place that entertains and challenges you.

STOICISM: Cure Stress, Anger, Panic, Depression And Anxiety With Stoic Philosophy
About STOICISM: Cure Stress, Anger, Panic, Depression And Anxiety With Stoic Philosophy:
“Stoicism is associated with Ancient Philosophy, but that doesn’t mean it has no relevance today. To be sure, you, the reader, are not likely to have as much hardship in your life as Zeno faced when his merchant enterprise was ruined or Epictetus who had to toil as a slave. Nor are you likely to hold very high, influential office the like Seneca or Marcus Aurelius did. And yet, by this point in the book you likely already see that Stoicism still has continued relevance today.
The fact is that even when things seem to be going extremely well for us our inner lives are usually still out of balance. It’s quite common to discover that those who seem to be so well put together—they get along well with their children, they bring home a lot of money from a job they like, and they are always doing interesting things with their leisure time—are, deep down, gripped by anxiety, fear, or depression. Even those who live in the lap of luxury and comfort, who have all their needs taken care of and who can get whatever they want with just a phone call—even they usually feel a lot of stress.
When we try to find the root cause of this common misery, we see that they are a very prominent feature of modernity. Most of them really boil down to having inflated expectations. Even those who seem to have it all can’t shake the feeling that there must be more, that they’re somehow still missing out on something. And those who don’t have it all still often feel like they were promised more. ”

Chosen as The Yorkshire Post’s Top 5: Pick of the Best Books!
This “witty and pacy” character-driven masterpiece is “reminiscent of Bridget Jones” and proves that there really are two sides to every story.
After spending her twenties sailing the globe, making love on fine white sand, and thinking only of today, Teri Meyer returns to Yorkshire – and to studying. That’s when she discovers John Wilmot, the second Earl of Rochester, and poet of all things depraved. What she doesn’t realise is even beyond his grave, his influence over her is extraordinary. To hell with the consequences.
Having gone out on a limb to get old friend Teri a job at the university at which she teaches, it doesn’t take long for Lee Harper to recognise a pattern. Wherever Teri goes, whatever she does, every selfish choice she makes, it’s all setting her up for a nasty fall. But Teri’s not the sort to heed a warning, so Lee has no choice but to stand by and watch. And besides, she has her own life to straighten out.
