The Little Library That Inspires Kids To Read

Hi Awesome Authors and Readers

This past week we did something that will help young people discover reading and form a love of books that will last for decades. A few weeks ago I was watching a story on the nightly news about a little girl that started a free library outside her house and someone stole the whole thing.

Anna loves books and wants to help other kids get good books. She spent hours painting it all pretty and putting books in it. Needless to say I had a sick feeling in my stomach watching this and knew we had to do something.

By chance Anna got her library back when someone saw it on Craigslist and bought it and returned it to her after seeing the story. During this time someone raised enough funds and they got a second one. Anna is donating that one to a neighborhood that needs it. They will soon be popping up in neighborhoods that need them the most. She has created an awesome movement!

On Saturday they had a grand reopening party for the library and we went and donated a ton of books. With the help of Debbie from BookGoodies we also donated bookmarks and tote bags so people could cary their books. It was very moving and I can't wait to help other little libraries get books. We already stocked a second little library. I ask you to do the same when you see one. Watching the kids eyes light up when they found a cool book is all worth it. You can read more here and learn how you can help little libraries near you.
