The Snowball by Cliff Lea

the snowball cliff leaAbout The Snowball by Cliff Lea

Mike Gentry is in deep trouble.

Not only has he hidden his family’s financial difficulties from his wife, Susan…not only has he invested foolishly with his college roommate, Ricky…not only has he drifted away from his days of dependence on God… but Mike has promised some things to his family that are weighing him down. His family’s needs are unending, the credit balances are rising, the checking balance is perpetually miniscule, and the growing marriage tension between Mike and Susan is apparent to everyone, including their three young children. The tension in his family is crippling his peace, and his mind is going to a place darker than he ever imagined.

Then, one day the weather changed. A bright, early snow accosted him. Through it, he learns an unsuspecting lesson from—of all things—a snowball. This winter surprise leads Mike on an imperfect journey to a place of hope.

The Snowball covers all the themes familiar to families in America—success, failure, temptation, love, loss, dishonesty, confession, money, happiness, sorrow, conflict, healing, resolution. And revolution. Personal revolution. The characters are believably human, and out of their pain—and out of their eventual joy—begins the flow of hope.

Jonah the Wolf

SW-JTW-PDF-CoverAbout Jonah the Wolf:

Struggling novelist, Hal Romic thought the remote mansion would be the perfect place to finish his next book. Sure, it needed some repairs. Sure, his wife hated it and his kids found it creepy, but Hal knew it would work. It wasn’t just the voice in the back of his mind, a voice that had been growing stronger since they moved in. A malevolent voice that lusted to return to the mortal realm so it could once again wreak violence and bathe in blood…

Aimee Easterling is a USA Today Bestselling author writing on the boundary between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. She specializes in spunky shifters and invites you to dive into her werewolf world in the Wolf Rampant trilogy, the spinoff Bloodling serial, and the new Alpha Underground series.

Studying biology and working as a naturalist have both informed Aimee’s writing, but she’s quite willing to let reality slide in favor of a good story. When not writing, she loves to read and always keeps books by Robin McKinley, Patricia Briggs, and Elizabeth Peters on her shelf.

Disgrace

Disgrace-originalAbout Disgrace:

I shamed my name. I am a whore. I am a disgrace. I’m all the things my mother made me. I wear my badge with pride because I know the truth, and only those worth a damn see me for who I am, not the label I choose to hide behind.
I am a Domme. I would still rather be a whore than a hypocrite like my mother, or a victim like the daughter she raised me to be.
As Mistress Selina, I can bring a grown man to his knees without so much as a crack of my handmade whip. I love the power and control—what’s not to love? I must be mad to even consider Dominant club owner and King of Kink Jason Sinclair’s proposition.
Two Doms don’t make a right.
Self-preservation has kept me at a safe distance from the one man who could change all that. The only man who wields power like a sensual sword and keeps me balanced on that knife’s edge. My choice is simple: He wants me to switch for him. But if I do, will I bleed or will I fall?

Dee Palmer hates talking about herself in the third person so I won’t. My husband had my iPod engraved one Christmas with ‘sing like no-one’s listening’ and I know my family actually wish they weren’t listening because I am, in fact, tone deaf but it doesn’t stop me and this gentle support has enabled me to fullfil a dream. In my first year I have hit the Amazon Best Seller list 3 times and been shortlisted for 2 writing awards. This has been a truly brilliant experience. It has undoubtedly been made possible by my incredibly supportive family. I know this is very much another acknowledgment bit but I know I wouldn’t be writing even this single paragraph if it wasn’t for them so this is about who I am, I am because they let me be.

Mount Silenus: A Vertical Odyssey of Extraordinary Peril

mount-silenus-high-resolutionAbout Mount Silenus: A Vertical Odyssey of Extraordinary Peril:

When novice climbers Trevor and Gaspar attempt Mount Silenus they discover that inspiration from a famous book makes a poor substitute for experience. Accuracy is important on mountains, especially one darkened by legends of a prehistoric sloth — the Abominable Unau — and the indigenous people who make sacrifices to it. As the text bears less and less resemblance to the terrain, squabbles over its interpretation become a battle of faith vs. reason. Those are best fought on flat surfaces.

Why does a man climb a mountain? To taste the distilled essence of life, to glimpse the clandestine maneuvers of his soul, and because he believes everything he reads. For two high school teachers who skipped their climbing classes, a masterpiece advocating spontaneity over skill proves irresistible. Unknown to them, the reclusive author honed his technique scaling barstools and brooding over the unjust fame of Nietzsche. He ignored eyewitness accounts of the Abominable Unau for stylistic reasons. Stories about wrathful apparitions infesting a labyrinth of caves didn’t make the cut either.

During a quixotic journey in the general direction of the summit, Trevor and Gaspar join a scientist investigating paranormal activity on one of the plateaus. The book fails to warn about traps set by the mountain people to protect the sacred site from desecration. When they fall into icy catacombs they must confront the source of the legends to survive.

Petronius Jablonski studied Philosophy, Psychology, and Physics at the University of Wisconsin Parkside. His published writing is included in Some Call It Trypophobia, a collection of stories and an existential analysis of the phobia. Schrödinger’s Dachshund is his first novel. He writes extensively about music, though there is only one song he reviews. See his Annals for major contributions to Philosophy: The Da Vinci Code as written by Tristram Shandy.

He grew up in Cudahy, Wisconsin, where he began chronicling versions of the Mary Weatherworth meme. This urban legend about a blind, mirror-infesting apparition endures and mutates like some Campbellian myth. Grown men who refuse to be quoted swear they saw something. Bizarre and horrifying accounts uncoil across Schrodinger’s Dachshund, winding toward their origin. Jablonski went undercover with the Sentinels of the Chandelier to study the mysterious connection between their Gnostic teachings and the Weatherworth meme. Lawsuits pend. Less abstract threats loom.

Mount Silenus: A Vertical Odyssey of Extraordinary Peril began as therapy for Post-Traumatic Mountaineering Disorder. It took on a life of its own. Some events never recede on the horizon of Time. Dismissing them as the past is wishful thinking. That they occurred before other things is a trivial property, incidental and irrelevant to the sovereignty they wield.began as therapy for Post-Traumatic Mountaineering Disorder.

The Champion of Barèsh

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]About The Champion of Barèsh:

She was playing with fire…
Jemm Aves battles to keep her dreams alive on a dead-end world. Working for the mines by day, she’s a successful bajha player at night, disguised as a male to be allowed to compete in the colony’s dangerous underworld where club owners will go to extremes to retain the best players. Every win puts her one small step closer to her goal: saving enough to escape Barésh with her family. When a nobleman from one of the galaxy’s elite families recruits her to be a star player for his team, it’s because he doesn’t know her secret. Her ruse proves to be her most perilous game yet when it puts both their lives—and her heart—at risk.
Prince Charming he was not…
Prince Klark is eager to reverse his reputation as the black sheep of the Vedla clan, a family as famous for its wealth and power as it is for being a bastion of male-dominated tradition. If his bajha team can win the galactic title it would go a long way toward restoring the family honor that his misdeeds tarnished. He travels to Barésh to track down an amateur who’s risen to the top of the seedy world of street bajha, offering the commoner a chance of a lifetime: a way off that reeking space rock for good. But his new player comes with a scandalous secret that turns his plans and his beliefs upside down. He sets out to win a very different prize—his champion’s reluctant heart.
