My backstory is, I spent almost forty years inside the cockpits of corporate jets and airlines and because of my flying career I acquired a unique perspective of life. I was born in New York City to Colombian immigrant parents. My upbringing was probably the best any child could have. I went to catholic school until college and grew up Queens. Alaric Longward was born 1970, which makes him as old as computer floppy disks. Do not worry if you don’t know what they are.

Throughout his childhood, he found himself curiously attracted to books. This strange hobby did not take anything away from the computer gaming and occasional sports, but the books stayed and the wonderful stories that could be found in his father’s vast library would inspire him throughout his life to appreciate the power of story telling. Where to start?

I read and write love stories because I figure we need a reminder that everything can be made right, at least for a while, if we have someone who loves us for who we are, flaws and all (and I love a flawed character who drops the f bomb every now and then, or one who accidentally says the wrong thing at the wrong time). I write about young adults because I think that eighteen to twenty-two are the growing years–the years we usually branch out from those who are supposed to love us, and find those who are going to learn to love us, even if they break our hearts along the way.

I love Nora Efron movies, Nora Roberts books, coffee, large dogs, and my family. I read because it makes me happy, and I write because it makes me complete.
