Laurel Beacham made working solo a personal success story and is known for her nerve, instincts, and ability to do whatever necessary to return each priceless masterpiece safely intact. As the world’s leading art recovery expert, she’s thwarted more heists than the average law enforcement professional. Museums applaud her skills. Thieves admire the cunning way she operates.

Her last job landed her the head position over the London branch of Beacham Foundation, but bringing one case to a close only opened a bigger one. More importantly, the new case inextricably ties her to Jack Hawkes, a man smart enough to be her equal but who keeps her trust meter firmly in the red zone. Trying to stop a rumored heist of the century, the pair leap headlong into a plot that gets more dangerous and illusive by the minute. The clock counts down as the bodies and forgeries stack up.

Author Bio:
Ritter Ames is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Organized Mysteries series and the Bodies of Art Mysteries series. When she’s not writing or brainstorming new mysteries Ritter is usually trying to get her favorite yellow lab to stay out of the pond, or keep her grouchy black cat from trying to give the dog away on Freecycle. Ritter would love to live on a boat and write from far flung locations around the globe, but the dog would constantly have to be fished from the water, and her husband and cat would just complain endlessly about the dog’s smell, so staying on land seems to be the only good option to keep her sanity and not get sidetracked from writing.

Going Educational Book I

now-heal-thisAbout Going Educational Book I:

As the plot unfolds, you will come to question who truly gains from their rehabilitation.

I have used many of my experiences, as a Special Education teacher in poverty stricken communities, to write this book. Thus Interwoven in this fictional work are themes that are socially conscious. Who really controls how we get information? Why are the teenagers influenced by music to commit violent crimes? Why are religions forced on others?

Echoes from the Oasis

OASIS3About Echoes from the Oasis:

A. Rosie Tirant is a Best Selling Amazon E-book Author from the UK. Her new Historical Romance Novel Series, which book one titled; Echoes from the Oasis is now available on Amazon and book 2 to come soon. About book one:

Echoes from the Oasis story line is in 1814, the war being raged on the seas of the Indian Ocean by the all-powerful Franco-British naval forces trying to dominate the lucrative trade routes to India, had ended with a truce. At the stroke of a pen, far away in the city of Paris, the exotic, tropical islands of the Seychelles became a British colony. Forged from their French descendants and African slave roots, and molded by their new British rulers, a small nation had emerged.

It is July 1912 on the island of Mahe, and Anna Savy has just turned sixteen. Anna is a passionate, nature-loving and rebellious young woman at a time when women are confined to specific roles and expectations, and custom and tradition prevail with reverence. Strongly-held beliefs in the goodness and righteousness of God, and in the secret and evil forces of witchcraft, hold equal sway in a closely-knit Catholic community.

As a young nurse, Anna experiences both the joy and pain of her people, for survival is a daily struggle for the majority. A smallpox epidemic brings tragedy to Mahe’s Victoria Hospital, with the hatred and conflict between Anna’s British and Irish colleagues laid bare, whilst forbidden love brings the missing dimension to her life.

But then, the First World War brings the worst possible disaster…

A love story you won’t soon forget.

Author Bio:
Rosie Tirant-Longhurst, aka A.R. Tirant, was born in the Seychelles in November 1958, the daughter of a policeman and the eldest in a family of four brothers and four sisters. She grew up on the northern coast of Mahe island, in the tiny seaside village of Beau-Vallon. Her working life started in 1975 as a nurse at Mahe’s Victoria Hospital, followed thereafter by a career in the Hotel Industry. She emigrated to England in 1995 and now lives in West Sussex with her husband. She has two grown-up sons and a granddaughter.

Rosie wasn’t born with a pen in her hand, far from it. Life growing up was hard and strict. The home comforts we all now take for granted were but a dream for the young girl whose days were divided between household chores, cooking, cleaning and looking after her young siblings. Water for all the household use had to be carried from a stream, with one hand holding a pail on her head, and the other keeping a second pail from spilling.

Education only happened because it was the one way of getting some rest during the daytime, even if the chores still had to be done by the light of a coconut oil lamp. They were difficult times… times when she would lean against the pillar of the outdoor kitchen waiting for dinner to cook in the large black pots, staring at the tropical skies and marveling at the diamond beauty of the scattering of stars above, and all the while wishing for a different life…

‘Echoes from the Oasis’ is her debut novel which will be followed by other titles in the same series.

REVIEW IN THE ‘Today In Seychelles’ Newspaper … By N. Gherardi

“From the opening lines the reader is drawn into a period long since evolved”.

“The author manages to skilfully hold the reader’s attention as the story develops its numerous threads that set the stage for a flurry of love and passion in the midst of hardships”.

“Her penmanship is particularly remarkable in the manner in which she paints the historical backdrop to the stage setting as she introduces the main players whose lives and passions intertwine with the historical events of that period”.

“But perhaps to the author’s greatest credit is the illustration of the profound relationship that develops between the two main characters, Anna and her beloved Louis. The reader is drawn into this romance through the author’s touch for detail and ability to convey those inner emotions to which we can all relate”.

“At the end of the day, the echoes from Anna’s oasis are of love, passion, hate and revenge – all those human traits that make for a very powerful read indeed”…

The Law of Nature and Nature’s God

DSCF2986About The Law of Nature and Nature’s God:

Help me celebrate my birthday—this book is free for the next three days.

Kadashan began writing for the Juneau Empire newspaper because he became very much concerned about the way our government(s) were drifting from the fundamental principles that the Founding Fathers of this great nation had established for us. Even though the paper is somewhat liberal, the Managing Editor thought he had something to offer—especially since Kadashan was Alaska Native. He had studied the U.S. Constitution when he was at Brigham Young University and was heavily involved in Alaska Native politics from 1993-2006. In his writings, he emphasized that “Native Americans,” and all Americans for that matter, should be concerned with modern day political issues. “After all we are Americans and live under the banner of the U.S. Constitution—the very instrument that was designed to protect us from the injustices of government,” he said.
These commentaries arose from his writings in a monthly column called Kadashan’s Corner that he wrote for the Empire. His political commentaries include his thoughts about Native American issues which were inspired when he served for twelve years as the president of his tribal council. He was also more inspired when he attended conferences and meetings with nation-wide tribal leaders and federal government officials. As he gained more knowledge about tribal, federal and state governments he began to genuinely ponder about how these entities associate with the Natural Law. When he realized that none of them were familiar with this ancient, eternal principle his essays were tweaked to show how America can become great again by going back to living the Natural Law and God’s laws. His essays gives us hope—hope that we can become a great nation if we relearn to follow the Natural Law and Nature’s God.
There is a section in this book about the Alaska Native Brotherhood, the oldest Native American organization in America. It was organized by nine valiant men, including one women, to combat discrimination, integrate schools, battle for recognition as U.S. citizens and to participate in the civil government of Alaska. These essays give a few examples about how it played a huge part in fashioning Alaska as it is today. Again he emphasizes the importance and requirement of going back to living the Law of Nature and Nature’s God.”
Kadashan’s writings reveals how the Native Americans lived with Nature. They understood that if they co-existed with Nature you would understand the laws of nature. When we understood the Natural Law we would have the tendency to obey and thus enjoy the privileges of the natural world had to offer us. Not only is this true for individuals but for groups of people, communities, states and the nation as well. This, in Kadashan’s opinion, is more so true today. The challenge we have in these modern times is to return to abiding the Natural Law.

Author Bio:
Kadashan was given his Native American birth name by his grandmother after his great grandfather whose clan is located on the southern end of the southeast panhandle of Alaska. The elder Kadashan, as a young man, was one of the guides to world traveler and naturalist, John Muir. In his elder years he was known as a “peace-maker” among his native peoples. Kadashan means “red tide coming.” In coastal Alaska when a red tide infects the bays, it means that people should avoid eating shell fish because there are poisonous workings in it and can kill people who consume shell fish during this time. When the red tide shows it is a warning to stay away from shell fish such as clams, cockles, urchins, clams etc. In line with this notion Kadashan’s political commentaries sends out warnings—warnings about bad things happening if we fail to follow the Natural Law.
Kadashan began writing when he was in college. He was encouraged by his creative writing instructor, who recognized his passion for story-telling. Twenty years later his retired teacher and college mentor visited him, read the stories he had stored in his desk drawer, and persuaded him to find a publisher. In time his rejection slips were thicker than his manuscripts. Eventually, he was discovered by the publisher of the Alaska Native Magazine who began to feature his short stories and his water color paintings that illustrated his stories. Yaakwdaat Aya is now published as a short story collection in eBook on Amazon and in paperback from Create Space.
Shortly after, he began writing essays for the Tundra Times, a statewide Alaska Native newspaper. His commentaries dealt with Indian politics and tribal governments. Eventually he was under contract with the Juneau Empire and authored a monthly column for the Capital city’s statewide newspaper. He tweaked these essays and self-published “The Law of Nature and Nature’s God” in eBook; it is also in paperback in Create Space.
His latest, “Kadashan Speaks–Legal Plunder,” clearly demonstrates the adverse signs of the times in America and how the federal system is using legal plunder to fashion illegal matters into legal laws.
“When Raven Cries” is Kadashan’s first novel. It is available in eBook and Create Space. He is presently occupied with writing another novel and a non-fiction book about the history and culture of his Tlingit clan.
Kadashan received his education from Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is a retired commercial fisherman, a salt water charter boat captain, and tribal government president. He lives in Yakutat with his wife near his children and grandchildren.
He said, “I was inspired to write when I was in college. My creative writing instructor, who thought I had a lot of good stories to share, helped me to develop short stories. I wrote about a dozen stories in one semester and when I left college I stored them in my desk drawer. Twenty years later I was visited in my village by my former teacher who read my stories. She asked me why I was hiding them and encouraged me to polish them and find a publisher. It took another twenty years to be discovered, and I have been writing a lot lately.”
He shares this thought, “When I write short stories I am inspired to create characters from people I know, in my mind I develop a plot as I write. Most of my stories are inspired from actual events. ‘When Raven Cries’ is the result of a personal experience when my younger brother got lost and the event caused the entire village to drop everything and engage themselves in the search. Whenever I start writing a novel I do use an outline and develop character sketches. I also write articles and essays and I simply do reporting on political issues. In my book Yaakwdaat Aya, the stories that I began writing in college, are illustrated with my water color paintings.”
Kadashan also adds this, “After my creative writing instructor visited me and urged me take my manuscripts from my drawer I left her in my office to read them. She challenged me to find a publisher and left that afternoon. I never saw her again, but I took those stories and began to work on them; in time I found a person who owned a magazine in Alaska. She began to use the stories. I began to research self- publishing; those experiences took me to the present.”

However, it is the hidden secrets of her parents smoldering beneath the charred remains that haunts Blinny until 1982. She once again leaves the home place to build a house for herself. As the foundation is poured and the walls go up, each of the hurtful memories are uncovered. Finally the mystery, left in the ashes of the burned home, is revealed. Shadow of the Raven by Millie Thom

Shadow-of-the-Raven-Extra-SmallAbout Shadow of the Raven by Millie Thom:

An adventure tale of Viking raids, ill-fated thralls, noble kings and their sons, and friendship and love. But, above all else, a tale of unforgivable betrayal and the ever-present desire for revenge…

The life of Eadwulf, ten-year old son of the Mercian king, is changed forever when his family is betrayed to the Danes by his treacherous uncle. In a Danish raid, his father is killed, his mother raped, and along with his tutor and childhood friend, Eadwulf is captured and taken to the Danish lands to be sold as a slave.

As a thrall in Jarl Ragnar’s village, Eadwulf’s life is hard, his days unbearably long. But on the return of Bjorn from his summer raids, Eadwulf’s life greatly improves. Under the protective wing of the jarl’s firstborn, he spends the next few years sailing to places he’d never even dreamed of, trading and raiding. And though he’s still a thrall, he becomes a well-respected member of Bjorn’s closely knit crew. But through it all, the smouldering desire for revenge on those who destroyed his family refuses to abate.

Eadwulf’s story plays out against the backdrop of events unfolding in Wessex in the face of escalating Danish raids. Alfred, the fifth son of the Wessex king, faces family tragedies from an early age, losing first his mother, then his beloved sister when she is married to the new Mercian king – Eadwulf’s uncle. At his father’s court and the successive courts of his three elder brothers, he learns the weighty art of kingship. And, like Eadwulf, he learns the harshest lesson of all…that a trusted kinsman can so easily turn traitor.

Shadow of the Raven is the first book in the Sons of Kings trilogy. It will be free on Amazon on Thursday, February 4th and Friday, February 5th 2016. Book 2 of the trilogy, Pit of Vipers, is also available on Amazon.

Author Bio:
Millie Thom is a former geography and history teacher with a degree in geology and a particular passion for the Anglo Saxon and Viking era. She was born in Southport, Lancashire, in 1947, and admits to being a ‘boomer’.

After completing a teacher training course in Liverpool in 1968, she moved to Yorkshire to take up her first teaching post at a secondary school in a small mining village. She also met her husband-to-be at this time, a teacher at a rival school – the rivalry being in the not-so-gentle sport of rugby.

In 1970 Millie and her husband moved to Wantage for six years, the town believed to be the birthplace of King Alfred the Great. In 1976 she moved up to Nottinghamshire and still lives there with her husband, midway between Lincoln and Newark. Their six grown-up children all live close by.

Since retiring from teaching, Millie has been writing the trilogy about King Alfred that has been screaming to be born for so many years. Book 1, ‘Shadow of the Raven’ and Book 2, ‘Pit of Vipers’ are both published on Amazon and Millie is currently working on Book 3 of the trilogy. When not writing, Millie can be found either at the swimming pool, walking down country lanes, or in her kitchen baking cakes.
