Abandoned
Emily is a woman with a dark past. She was found abandoned on a park bench in Glasgow, Scotland when she was only two years old. Being unable to talk or explain herself meant that growing up within the Scottish welfare system was depressingly harsh.
This all changes the day a young social worker named Kim comes into seven-year-old Emily’s life. Kim suspects that there is definitely more to Emily than the workers in the social system have surmised. A suspicion that Emily is no ordinary sufferer of domestic trauma. Emily, through Kim, finds hope, guidance and the chance of a normal life. But when a teenaged Emily becomes a victim of assault, leading to the death of her attackers, it fires off an urgent need to find out who she actually is.
Through the first person accounts of a social worker, a teenager, a gymnastics coach, an investigative agent and a sickly, elderly man, we observe Emily’s often-perilous journey to discover her true identity and what led to her abandonment in the first place—what she eventually finds may be truly extraordinary.

Although originally hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, I now reside in Sydney, Australia, which has been my home now for the past 25 years. For nearly 20 of those years, I have been working as an IT professional in varying capacities.
I kind of fell into writing when I started writing a serial of short stories, for friends, when I was challenged to create an interesting literary character. After five of these stories, it was recommended that I assemble this into a book. The result became Abandoned
I seek to write more books as ideas come to me. I do enjoy the challenge of trying turn fanciful stories into something more earnest and relate-able. A huge influence of mine, is the writer american science fiction / fantasy writer Peter David. Good writing is more than an interesting story. It is also the delivery of it and that unique style that each writer can bring. The most memorable quote that drives my own style is: “For every lie you tell, try to keep as much truth in it as possible. In that way, the lie seemingly becomes plausible.”
Havoc by Xavier Neal
When Clint “Grim” Walker, started Operation: Save Haven Davenport, the beaten, bruised girl who fell into his life, he had no idea it would turn him into an unbalanced, enraged, insecure idiot.
The mission objectives seemed simple. Make her feel safe in his home. Fail. Protect her from the neighborhood playboy. Fail. Shelter her from the ex girlfriend. Fail. Not fall in love with her. Epic fail. And while Clint could learn to live with those failures, there’s one he can’t. And that’s the objective that matters most. More than his side duties of making amends with his father, more than accepting motherly love from his meddling neighbor, and more than attempting to relate to his brother’s in arms off the field. That objective is life or death.

I was born in New York state, and have lived in Georgia, Illinois, New Mexico, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah, and I’ve lived north of Seattle for 27 years. I’ve visited 36 countries, and all fifty US states. I love to travel! If a passport or suitcase is involved, count me in!
I’m a self-published author of eleven non-fiction books, including two cruise travel guide books laced with stories about her innocent husband (so he says), a book on how to write one’s personal story, how to complain, and several cookbooks, science, and craft books for her six beloved grandchildren. My background in stand-up comedy spills into my writings.
Leery of writing fiction for many years, I’ve just finished my first novel, a cozy mystery set on (where else?) a cruise ship. It’s been delightful to learn how much I enjoy fiction. I already have a sequel in process!
It seems that many cozy mystery flyleafs tell that the author lives with a spouse and assorted cats. I love my husband, but sadly, have no cats.
My superpowers include: being able to spell-check and grammar-check with my brain (thanks to abusive English teachers over the years); heading up the making of 1006 quilts for Project Linus; a quick mind that enables me to improvise on a dime; and my talent as a skilled bargain hunter, including being able to find name brand items with store tags still on them in second hand stores with laser focus.

Double Toil & Trouble by Peg Herring
About Double Toil & Trouble by Peg Herring:
Scotland’s King Macbeth has been dead for a decade, yet his legacy changes forever the lives of his twin nieces, Jenna and Jessie macFindlaech. Viking raiders on a blood feud come to their home in the Cairngorm Mountains, intending to kill all males of Macbeth’s line. Finding only female descendants in the clan-hold, the Vikings declare they will seek out the older sister, who has two sons. Knowing she must somehow warn Tessa, Jenna escapes the marauders. To her horror, the Vikings take Jessie with them as a hostage.
The girls must learn to live without each other, outside the world they’ve always known. It’s especially hard for kind-hearted Jessie, whose lameness makes her doubt her own worth. Jenna’s anger keeps her going, rage at the Vikings who ruined her peaceful life and, she fears, have killed her beloved twin. She refuses to believe any Northman has the tiniest spark of good: not the deformed vitki fortune teller called Aldis, and definitely not Lukas the Tracker, whose merest touch makes her feel weak in the knees.
Jenna’s path takes her to England and then France, where she meets William of Normandy just before he leaves to conquer England. Jessie stays in Scotland, pursued by Viking Bjorn Bear-Slayer and protected by a kind man who sees her as a burden laid upon him by a benevolent priest.
As each sister copes in her own way, love interferes with their intentions. In both cases it’s love that cannot be expressed, love that’s too irrational to ever be returned. Each girl struggles to put her emotions aside, but their hearts don’t know how. The attempt only leads to Double Toil and Trouble.

Weeping Water
Weeping Water is a suspenseful, fast-paced thriller with unexpected twists, memorable characters, and an unforgettable journey about learning to live again that will take your breath away.
Review
“FOUR STARS! Weeping Water by JT Ruby is an epic novel about cryonic suspension – freezing something with life-threatening injuries in order to heal them when there are significant advances in medical technology. It follows Annie, who dies in a plane crash in the eighties, and Elliot, who dies in a car accident in the nineties, as they try to piece together their lives after being unfrozen. Spanning many generations and covering cryogenics from every angle, Weeping Water is a fast-paced and thought-provoking read.
Like the best of science fiction, Weeping Water poses a number of interesting questions about advances in technology. One might think that saving a life is a good thing, but then there’s a whole lot of turmoil when you’re waking up 35 years later and everyone else has aged, and you’re the same age. The novel is at its best when focusing on the emotional issues surrounding cryonics. It’s like a time travel novel with a technology that’s more plausible than time travel, illustrating that these are issues we may one day need to face. The novel manages to be heartrending and fascinating at once.
Make no mistake: the electric parts of this novel are incredibly entertaining. In many ways, this is the cryonics novel – a hugely ambitious undertaking – and JT Ruby is a bestseller-caliber writer. Each scene is written with great precision and clarity and the action scenes are pulse-pounders.” – SPR Book Review

Lifeline by Judy Griffith Gill
About Lifeline by Judy Griffith Gill:
Captain Joe Storn of the All Earth Space Fleet has two problems: One, he’s lying naked on what appears to be an autopsy table and, two, he’s desperate to take a leak.
Joe has just awakened from cryostasis in Luna. Not only that, there’s a battle raging in the tunnels and digs outside where he’s being held. He soon learns he’s the cause. Luna has declared independence from the All Earth Government and is refusing to give him back to be charged and convicted for his sins, among which are failure to obey orders, destruction of government property in that he crashed his ship to Luna’s crust, and swiped two half-dead convicts from the Mars Prison Colony. He’s pissed off that the AEG is only pretending to terraform Mars when all they’re doing is using helpless prisoners as compost.
When he escapes that autopsy room, he learns that thanks to the nanobots he introduced to his and his crew’s systems, they’ve all withstood twenty years of freeze, not the two that have been the maximum. He’s soon caught and sent to the brig. There, an old friend finds him and spirits him and his crew away to a lab in a mined-out asteroid. While she works out the kinks in her new, faster space-drive, he perfects his nanobots and the servos that will keep “corpscicles” alive for even longer than the twenty he’s just lived through. That done, he’s tasked with the duty of tracking down the vessels, both sleep- and generation-ships already on their way to possible new homes. They are to retrofit these ships with the new drive. It takes 150 years, most of which they spend in freeze. When their ship returns to Luna, Joe is given a hero’s welcome and an unexpected promotion to Admiral of a fleet of seven new ships bound for a system halfway across the Milky Way.
If 150 years in cryostasis seems outrageous, how about ten centuries? When it comes down to “fly or die”, Joe’s willing to fly. Time passes quickly while one’s in stasis, and when they’re revived in time to orbit the primary, Magnus, it’s a relief to see Magnus 3, their intended new world shining blue and green and white, just like Mother Earth. Trouble is, someone, somewhere, somewhen, screwed up, and it looks like M-3 may not be destined as their new home after all. Is Joe Storn going to let that stop him? Not on your nelly!
LIFELINES and DIRTSIDERS, Books 2 and 3 in the Chronicles of Storn are prequels as sequels to Book 1, REFUGE, now up on Wattpad for anyone to read for free. REFUGE ends with Joe saying to the characters in that book, “Have I got a story for you!” The next two are that story.
I had so much fun writing LIFELINES, I just couldn’t quit, and DIRTSIDERS flowed from that impetus. LIFELINES is a Kindle Select book just now. DIRTSIDERS is in final revisions and soon off to editing. I’m looking at mid February at the latest for publication.

I’ve been writing pretty much all my adult life. Most of my backlist is also digitized for reading and listening. Though I started out with Contemporary Romance, over time bits of other-worldly stuff began to creep in, probably because I grew up reading Heinlein, Asimov and Clarke, to name just three. I’ve lived in and visited many places, one of the benefits of being married to a soldier. He’s long been retired, but retirement just doesn’t work for me. (I hear voices in my head.) Luckily, he’s a great husband who’s willing (or maybe bored enough) to take care of things like grocery shopping, laundry, and dishes. I still do the cooking, which is a good thing, because while I like peanut butter, I don’t want a steady diet of PB&J sandwiches any more than I wanted a steady diet of Contemporary Romance. He also makes a mean omelet stuffed with salsa. Yum! But more important than all his other mentionable attributes, he can also dock the boat. We spend a lot of time aboard our little cabin cruiser poking the bow into nooks, crannies, and anchorages along the BC coast, gorging ourselves on fresh crabs, prawns, clams and oysters and even fish–which he catches for me. All in all, I have to say he’s a pretty good catch himself. After all, he brought me back to my home base here on the south coast of British Columbia when the wanderings grew old, and learned how to operate a boat as skillfully as he did a tank or a helicopter. judyafloat@gmail.com or judyaloft@icloud.com
