At first this book presents as a deep, broad, wide family saga in the tradition of R.F. Delderfield. And a very nice one, too. But wait – there’s more! As the book unfolds, more and more aspects become evident, each one nestling within the enfolding hills of the story of the extended Wetherby family like wrapped gifts under a Christmas tree.

The first surprise is the element of erotica, with its naughty spanking scenes. Although I’m not in general a fan of erotica, I had to say this is very well done, with authenticity (as far as I can tell) and grit, while at the same time good taste is never offended. Peabody well knows the distinction between erotica and pornography and never strays from the right path, even while one can almost taste the sweat. I’ve not often seen erotic passages handled so well – especially given the extreme nature of some of it, the fact that at no time did this rather prudish reader find it offensive speaks volumes.

The second surprise is the gripping adventure novel of the trenches of the First War, which emerges in the second half of the book. Again, I’m not a fan of battlefield scenes, but I could hardly put the book down. I could smell the cordite so that it stung my eyes. Beautifully executed, and if Mr Peabody is not a veteran of active service I should be very much surprised.

Finally, as the book draws to a close, the mounting tension of the final chapters gave me one of the most exciting espionage reads I’ve ever encountered.

It’s an unusual combination, but the disparate elements somehow manage to combine and work well together, giving the reader a wonderful read across at least four genres, even if romance is not taken to be one of them.

There were a few places where I felt the work could have done with a little more polish, but all in all a highly satisfying read, and I really cannot wait to see what Mr Peabody will give us next.

I’ve been a welder/fabricator, truck driver, club doorman (bouncer), general builder/bricklayer/roofer, supermarket shelf stacker and a vehicle technician (which in old money was called a mechanic). I’ve also been a member of a biker ‘gang,’ (back patch club to those who understand such things) and fast motorcycles are close to my heart still – along with scuba diving and fast boats, from a previous incarnation. You name it, I’ve probably done it.
…..A decade or so ago I escaped the madness and moved to the beautiful north of Scotland, to live on a typical Scottish Highland croft with large fields and a stunning view across the Moray Firth. Between defending the homestead from marauding packs of wild Haggis (Haggises/Haggi?) I write books and poetry – some would say very well, a few would say not so well, but all things are subjective and I bear no malice. They print my tales, and for that I am truly grateful. So how does Santa solve his problems? He does what every other major CEO does: cut costs. First, he hires illegal burros from Mexico to pull his sleigh. Then he outsources toy making to China and his IT services to India.

This throws thousands of elves out of work. Most leave the North Pole to find work elsewhere. Christmas Inc. follows the lives of three elves caught in the turmoil.

Henry moves his family to New York to pursue the American Dream. As illegal immigrants, they try to make a life for themselves in mainstream America.

Duncan gathers a group of friends around him, forms a co-op, rents a closed down workshop at the North Pole and starts a toy company to compete with Christmas Inc.

Born in 1965, I grew up on a working cattle ranch in the desert thirty miles from Wickenburg, Arizona, which at that time was exactly the middle of nowhere. Work, cactus and heat were plentiful, forms of recreation were not. The TV got two channels when it wanted to, and only in the evening after someone hand cranked the balky diesel generator to life. All of which meant that my primary form of escape was reading.

At 18 I escaped to Tucson where I attended the University of Arizona. A number of fruitless attempts at productive majors followed, none of which stuck. Discovering I liked writing, I tried journalism two separate times, but had to drop it when I realized that I had no intention of conducting interviews with actual people but preferred simply making them up.

After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing in 1989, I backpacked Europe with a friend and caught the travel bug. With no meaningful job prospects, I hitchhiked around the U.S. for a while then went back to school to learn to be a high school English teacher. I got a teaching job right out of school in the middle of the year. The job lasted exactly one semester, or until I received my summer pay and realized I actually had money to continue backpacking.

The next stop was Australia, where I hoped to spend six months, working wherever I could, then a few months in New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands. However, my plans changed irrevocably when I met a lovely Swiss woman, Claudia, in Alice Springs. Undoubtedly swept away by my lack of a job or real future, she agreed to allow me to follow her back to Switzerland where, a few months later, she gave up her job to continue traveling with me. Over the next couple years we backpacked the U.S., Eastern Europe and Australia/New Zealand, before marrying and settling in the mountains of Colorado, in a small town called Salida.

In Colorado we starved and froze, started our own electronics business, and had a couple of sons, Dylan and Daniel. In 2005 we shut the business down and moved back to Tucson.

I am currently working on finishing The Devastation Wars fantasy series and writing other novels. I am also a social worker and help facilitate groups for boys in local area high schools and middle schools.

Chorlisr attacked, and inadvertently killer his eternal mate, Renae,. As Gavis vowed revenge, Chorlisr used witchcraft once more to destroy Gavis. He was affected, but ran into the wood to a dark wizard so he could be healed. He took a potion, but slept in a mountain range for one thousand years.
In the 24th century, Chorlisr was long since dead so Gavis had to find his descendants to wipe out Chorlisr’s lineage for good. He destroyed all but one.
Adama Aruna was a history mentor, and also Chorlisr’s last descendant. She became Gavis’ target for his deadly malevolence, so he engaged her at a club to administer annihilation.

Author Bio:
Kyle was in sales for 21 years. He spanned from a telemarketer to a product trainer. His product knowledge was vast. It spanned from replacement windows to home maintenance equipment, with automobiles, and many electronics thrown in. He could tell you the difference between a veractor, and detant tuner, and even what they were. He went into military Intelligence when he graduated from high school, and had to know all NATO, and Warsaw Pact vehicles. He had many stories from the military, and many he made up.

He also drew comics in high school, and made up intriguing characters. Once he lost most of his sight to Diabetic Retonapathy, he continued his stories in book form.
