Forty Days at Kamas
“A brutal portrait of a dystopian America, full of dramatic irony and shocking revelation.” KIRKUS REVIEWS
“Weighty in ideas, Fleming’s book is both informative and deeply disturbing and provides an intriguing read.” SAN FRANCISCO BOOK REVIEW
“A page-turner…moves at a solid clip. An overtly political story that succeeds as entertainment.” PACIFIC BOOK REVIEW
“Masterfully paints a grim landscape with believable detail and vivid characters.” BOOKPLEASURES.COM
Inspired by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s account of a Soviet labor camp revolt in Gulag Archipelago, Volume III, the story of FORTY DAYS AT KAMAS follows political prisoners and security officials at a corrective labor camp in Kamas, Utah, where inmates seize control during the summer of 2024.
KAMAS, UTAH. 2024. America has become a totalitarian dystopia after the Unionist Party’s rise to power. The American West contains vast Restricted Zones dotted with ghost towns, scattered military garrisons and corrective labor camps where the regime disposes of its real and suspected enemies. Kamas is one such camp.
On a frigid March night, a former businessman from Pittsburgh, Paul Wagner, arrives at a labor camp in Utah’s Kamas Valley, a dozen miles east of the deserted resort town of Park City, which prisoners are dismantling as part of a massive recycling project.
When Wagner arrives, he is unaware that his eleven-year-old daughter, Claire, has set off to Utah to find him after becoming separated from her mother at the Philadelphia Airport. By an odd quirk of fate, Claire has traveled on the same train that carried her father into internal exile.
Only after Wagner has renounced all hope of survival, cast his lot with anti-regime hard-liners and joined them in an unprecedented and suicidal revolt does he discover that Claire has become a servant in the home of the camp’s Deputy Warden. Wagner is torn between his devotion to family and loyalty to his fellow rebels until, on the eve of an armored assault intended to crush the revolt, he faces an agonizing choice between a hero’s death and a coward’s freedom.
In FORTY DAYS AT KAMAS, author Preston Fleming offers a stirring portrait of a man determined to survive under the bleakest of conditions and against formidable odds.

Author Bio:
I decided to write novels at age fourteen. My English composition instructor, a World War II combat veteran, advised those of us who wanted to follow Melville, Conrad and Hemingway to live some adventures so we could tell stories people would want to read. During my adventures in the Middle East, Europe, and Russia, I saw failed states and societies but was surprised at how much their people had in common with Americans. This made me wonder: “Could it happen here?” In writing KAMAS, my greatest concern has been to gain a readership before the events it describes come to pass.

Family of Choice by Lissa Brown
About Family of Choice by Lissa Brown:
Family of Choice follows the main character of Brown’s award-winning novel, Another F-Word, Rory Calhoun Wilson. Rory suffered bullying by his father and others when he didn’t conform to their notion of a manly boy. Now grown and a physician, he wrestles with the scars of a painful childhood and addresses the question of whether he can overcome those experiences and live a fulfilling and successful life. Can Rory forgive his father and allow him a place in his new family? Should he? This compelling story examines issues of holding on to anger and how and whether to let it go. Tied closely to Rory’s dilemma is the question of whether he should legally adopt the biological children of his partner, Nimo. His hesitation rests squarely on the fact that he did not have a good role model in his own father. His future happiness and that of his family rest on his decisions.
This novel is suitable for middle school to adult readers. It deals with bullying, forgiveness, the importance of family, marriage equality and gay parenting. It may be read independently of Another F-Word.

To the Survivors
To the Survivors is about one man’s journey as a rape crisis counselor with true stories of sexual violence shared by survivors in their own words. Gently and beautifully constructed, To the Survivors is moving, tender, sharp, and piercingly true all at once. Readers will encounter uncensored written stories, poems, and interviews from women and men who have experienced rape and sexual assault, plus the advocate-author voice that weaves their experiences together. The survivors are diverse in age, gender, and ethnicity, yet each gives a similarity raw and heartfelt account of his or her victimization and recovery. The authenticity and vulnerability with which survivors speak resonates profoundly. But this book is not just for survivors of sexual violence. CHRISTMAS GIFT: Holiday Cheer Hops Here By Stephen Cherokee Drury
About CHRISTMAS GIFT: Holiday Cheer Hops Here By Stephen Cherokee Drury:
CHRISTMAS GIFT
Be you an adult or child, can any mortal believe or even conceive Santa does not breathe – just kid dreams or schemes gone wild? Nay, they will forever say, cause good elves know what is at play. One may say he stays only in a kid’s mind, yet truth ye shall find.
Sip a tip or more of what is in store behind Christmas Gift’s door:
“Once beneath a Christmas moon, the imps huddled
to hear this deer tale to unveil dear Santa’s secret.
So cuddle up to heed huddle scuttlebutt on Clause!
He is not spotted – cause his deer ducks spot flaws,
magically scanning homes before Santa will appear.
Elves claimed Santa named his deer Holiday Cheer.”
Within Christmas Gift you will find other verses from the author’s thirty year collection to enjoy, in addition to Holiday Cheer Tales. This author is specially drawn to the type of verses that stimulate ideas – thoughts that cause people to reflect on all aspects of life, primarily their own. He likes to emphasize the decisive aspects of our experience. In essence, the beginnings and ends to all of our stories are similar. It is that flicker in the middle that differs – yet matters. It is this writer’s mission to capture life in a brief phrase that kindles minds, sets hearts aglow and dwells in souls.
Readers find Christmas Gift cheery and entertaining. It highlights portions of our lives that touch our deepest feelings at Christmas. This author is a humorist who will set crisp upturns on your smile.

Author Bio:
My writing is offered to any reader, young and all those young at heart, who like inspiring thoughts. As well as books, I write humorous quotes, posted on PhotoVerseBooks.com, to help my readers through days. They are a collection written over the last thirty years. I look at myself with a good sense of humor, which makes life rather simple. Being a humorist is really pretty easy, words are just music to me and life provides ideas for the scores. It is a writer’s task to capture life in brief phrases that kindle minds, set hearts aglow and dwell in souls.
It has always been suitable that the biographical sketch about an author should be in third person, though it is typically the author who writes it. Well, I have always found that to be a bit strange. So, allow me to write in a more straightforward way.
I grew up in a ranching community in Texas. I have spent all of my life, except for excursions, in that grand state of vastness, great beauty and such totally independent mindset. I have traveled to wild and beautiful places, but I have made decidedly speedy tracks back home to Texas on my fastest horse.
I spent my former days on trucks, tractors and combines baling and bucking hay. I also played baseball early, then football as an all-district linebacker. I advanced to complete undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degrees/studies & thesis in behavioral science, in addition to philosophy. I am not big on tacking those educational credentials after my name, so I refrain from doing it. I have always shown respect to my grandpa, Walt, whose heritage was half Cherokee. I am very proud of him, thus the namesake Cherokee.
I have written verses all my grown up life and kept them hidden in my notebooks. Time spent on education, adventures and vocations have kept me from this process of organizing and publishing. I have owned ranch related businesses since 1989 and market my ranches from Texas down to exquisite places in Argentina and Brazil. I am probably the only writer on these or any other such pages to have flown in a red chopper over vast Val Verde County, Texas a couple of fine times with the incomparable Jeff Bezos looking over my Arrowhead Ranches. It was a fun and remarkable time. God Bless

What inspires you to write?
I breathe – I write.
Even before I open my eyes I can see my characters and the see what they are doing, I can hear them talking and know what they are worried about. I have carried the story inside me for such a long time. I have to write it down.
There is no other passion for except this one.
Tell us about your writing process.
I like to write longhand , I get too distracted from using computers and do not touch type well.
I use dictation to transfer my books into computers. I am currently on my first draft of my second novel. I think there are at least two stages:
1) writing the story down
2) figuring about the best way to tell the story to your audience.
I have a background in performance storytelling and sometimes I like to visualise a fidgety audience in order to figure how to tell my story.

Author Bio:
Brigid George grew up in a small Australian town called Orbost in the state of Victoria. She spent her childhood chasing snakes and lizards down hollow logs, playing Hansel and Gretel in the bush with her brothers, climbing trees, searching the local rubbish tip for books to read and generally behaving like a feral child. To avoid her boisterous brothers she often escaped into the hayshed with a book. Hours and hours of reading from an early age trained her for life as a writer. In primary school her teachers called her ‘the one with the Enid Blyton touch’. Her love of reading murder mysteries as an adult has now evolved into a love of writing them.
As a teenager she had short stories published in one of Australia’s national magazines, New Idea. Since then she has won several awards for her stories which have also been published in anthologies.
Brigid still lives in the state of Victoria but is now in the capital city of Melbourne where her life is fertile with friends.
Brigid George is the pseudonym of JB Rowley – author of Whisper My Secret & Mother of Ten.

50 MAIL-ORDER BRIDES TAKE AMERICA BY STORM
A Bride for Each State
In an unprecedented event, forty-five authors come together to bring readers a new series of epic proportions. On fifty consecutive days beginning November 19, 2015, a romance, featuring a mail-order bride, will be published–one set in each of the fifty states. The books will be released in the order the states were admitted to the union. The stories all take place in 1890, following a day when a factory in the East burns to the ground, leaving these women unemployed and forced to choose mail-order marriages for survival. Share the experiences of these brides as they seek love and new lives across the United States.
This is a 50-book project, with 45 authors, each releasing a 35-45k book with a connecting initial premise. An unveiling of the project occurred on November 1, with a Facebook party and release of Prequel: American Mail-Order Brides by Kirsten Osborne. Beginning with the November 19 release of the first book, Lottie: Bride of Delaware by Kit Morgan, a book will be available every day through January 7–each set in a different state or territory. The order of release corresponds with the order of statehood. All the books are currently on pre-order on Amazon and are enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. The books retail for $2.99 each, and they feature covers with a draped flag and a consistent appearance that further ties the series together.
This project has many bestselling authors, including New York Times and USA Today top sellers such as Debra Holland, Kirsten Osbourne, and Callie Hutton. Branching out from success in the cozy mystery genre is Leighann Dobbs. There are also new rising stars in the western historical romance genre–Cindy Caldwell, Hildie McQueen, Amelia Adams and Ashley Merrick. Many more are also participating, with several authors writing two books.
For branding purposes, the books share a common cover template of an American flag draped down the left side. There is also a dedicated website, with links to each author’s Amazon author page. In addition, there is a Facebook page with all the covers in order of release and buy links.

As a start, she begins writing letters to distant friends and to the universe, seeking answers to the biggest question she faces…whether there’s anyone bigger in charge. Lingerie Wars
It’s Christmas in the Highlands and there’s a Lingerie War going on…
Englishman Lake Benson loaned his life savings to his dippy sister so that she could buy a shop. It was a big mistake. His sister has been steadily flushing his money down the drain – and now he wants it back. Years in the special forces taught Lake that if you want a job done, do it yourself. So he steps in to make the shop profitable, sell it and get his money back. The only problem is, the business is an underwear shop. And all Lake knows about underwear can be summed up in how fast he can unsnap a bra. To make matters worse, the tiny highland town already has a lingerie shop. A successful one, run by an ex-lingerie model. A very gorgeous ex-lingerie model, who’s distracting him from his mission more than he’d like to admit. If Lake wants to get his savings back, and get out of Scotland, he only has one option – wipe out the competition.
Kirsty Campbell has spent years rebuilding her life after she woke up in hospital in Spain to find her body scarred, and her ex-fiance had run off with all her money. The last thing she needs is a cocky, English soldier-boy trying to ruin all she has left. Her home town is only too happy to help her fight the latest English invasion, although Lake is beginning to sway them with his sex appeal and cut price knickers. With the help of her mother, and the retired ladies of Knit or Die, Kirsty sets about making sure that her shop is the last one standing in Invertary.
It’s Scotland versus England as you’ve never seen it before. It’s lingerie war.
NOTE: This is a standalone romance which is the first in a series of interconnected books, all set in the same small Scottish town. You don’t have to read all of the books to enjoy each individual story.

5 random things about me:
1. I accidentally mooned a crowd at a Bolivian wedding.
2. I’ve been chased by a gang of baboons. And I mean gang. They were organised and vicious. All that was missing was their leather jackets and tattoos!
3. I wrote my first novel when I was 22. It was a cross between Star Wars, Monsters Inc. and Tinkerbelle. Funnily enough, no one wanted to publish it. Odd that…
4. I was a portrait artist on the streets of Amsterdam for a time.
5. I worked night shift as a security guard at Stirling Castle in Scotland while I was in college. The castle was on a terrorist hit-list back then. To defend it they gave me a flashlight, a two-way radio that only worked one-way and made me wear a polyester A-line skirt…
I’m a Scot, living in New Zealand and married to a Dutch man. I have two tiny girls, too many animals and a Pepsi-Max addiction! Oh, and I write contemporary romance.
