I am a teacher who resides in the suburbs of Connecticut with my husband and three teenage sons. This makes me the only woman in a house of screaming sport fanatics! During any given evening you can find me curled up in bed reading while in the next room my boys (yes, this includes my husband) yell at the TV.
I am an only child who never wished for a sibling. I openly admit to being a spoiled brat and to this day the word “no” does not go over very well with me.
I decided to write under the pen name Kitty Berry in honor of my late mother. My love for reading and discussing literature didn’t come to me until my late twenties and it’s one of my biggest regrets that it took so long because by the time I developed that passion my mother had passed away from breast cancer. I wish I could talk to her now about the books I read and share with her my ideas for my own stories.
It was my late mother’s desire of becoming a writer that prompted me to create a contemporary romantic series that pulls the reader in and makes them become invested in the characters that I place in worlds of wealth, power, seduction, dominance and submission. Hmm, now that I’m writing this, maybe I wouldn’t discuss every scene in my books with her.
Angst-ridden, plot-driven, women’s contemporary romances mesmerize me and fast-paced entertaining mysteries as well as witty “chick lit” contributed to my desire to be a writer. I’m a creative person by nature who came into writing during a time in my life when the busy balance of career and family made me crave an escape into the world of romance. I took that desire and turned it into a romantic series that offers the reader multidimensional characters. My goal for my series is to engage the reader from the moment the powerful dominant man meets a woman who is submissive in their bed but still offers them a challenge in their relationship and they fall into an unstoppable infatuation with one another.
While each book in my series can stand alone with its own story, the intention was to create carry-over characters to satisfy the need of the reader to know more after each novel ends. As an avid reader myself, I enjoy the feeling of being there with the characters inside the story and often times find myself wanting to know more about them, missing them when the story is over, and becoming excited all over again when I discover those familiar characters in subsequent novels. I hope that this series will do the same for my readers.
I love dark chocolate everything, music inspires my writing and as soon as I’m done driving carpools, attending basketball games and coordinating the social lives of my three adolescent children (who have way better social lives than I do) I plan to also enjoy traveling.
