Infighting, carnage, and sexual favors are the real rule of law at the Los Angeles law firm of Thorne & Chase! Complex characters immerse you in the cutthroat culture of big money law firms—firms where partners and associates must win at all costs. They cannibalize each other battling for money, power, love, clients, and ultimately their own survival. With blue-collar idealism and onerous student loans, first-year associate Sophia Christopoulos covets the firm’s money and power. But her new friendships, love, and success come with the shocking price of disillusionment, murder, and betrayal. When Sophia is hurled into a murder investigation, she is torn between ethics and firm politics, as well as love and truth. Fighting to save her career and life, she becomes the star witness—and then a target.

5-STAR REVIEWS! “Warning – don’t start reading until you have time!” “Author Dale E. Manolakas delivers with fully-realized characters who explode off the page. Visceral. Sensual. Alive. Highly recommended.” “A strong, scathingly entertaining commentary on the Los Angeles legal community. Keeps the reader guessing until the end.” “Wow! Powerful look into the law business!”

FROM THE AUTHOR

Lethal Lawyers is unique because of its authenticity and candid revelations. Although fictionalized, the many characters and legal incidences are based on actual persons, cases, and events in the practice of big law firm litigation in Los Angeles. Extensive experience and interviews, both of senior management and at the associate level, insured its accuracy, legitimacy, and realism.

After a life time of writing poetry, books, nonfiction, and legal documents, it was author Ray Bradbury’s friendship and encouragement that finally inspired Dale E. Manolakas to pursue writing as a career. He taught her that the characters wrote the book–she didn’t. Raised just outside Los Angeles by a surgeon father and a homemaker-author mother, Dale E. Manolakas had always aspired to an acting career, but also had to make a living.

Dale E. Manolakas earned her B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles, and M.A., M.S., Ph.D. and J.D. degrees from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the California Bar, had the privilege of clerking for The Honorable Arthur L. Alarcón at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, was a litigator in two major Los Angeles law firms, and a senior appellate attorney at the California Court of Appeals, as well as an Administrative Law Judge.

Before that she was a teacher, primarily at the high school, adult school, and university levels, and holds a public administrative services credential. In addition, she has pursued her passion for acting, primarily on the stage, but also in film and television. She is a member of both Actors’ Equity and SAG-AFTRA. She also has raised three very independent daughters and lives with her husband, a retired attorney, in an otherwise animal-free environment in California.

Author Bio:
T. Jackson King (Tom) is a professional archaeologist and journalist. He writes hard science fiction, anthropological SciFi, dark fantasy/horror and contemporary fantasy/magic realism–but that didn’t happen until he was 38.

Before then, college years spent in Paris and in Tokyo led Tom into antiwar activism, hanging out with some Japanese hippies and learning how often governments lie to their citizens. The latter lesson led him and a college buddy to publish the Shinjuku Sutra English language underground tabloid in Japan in 1967. That was followed by helping shut down the University of Tennessee at Knoxville campus in 1968 and a bus trip to Washington D.C. for the Second March on Washington where thousands demanded an end to the Vietnam War.

Temporary sanity returned when Tom worked in a radiocarbon lab at UC Riverside and earned an MA degree in Archaeology from UCLA. His interests in ancient history, ancient cultures and journalism got him several government agency jobs that paid the bills, led him to roam the raw landscape of the Western United States, and helped him and his wife Leslee raise three kids.

A funny thing happened on the way to normality. By the time he was 38 and doing federal arky work in Colorado, Tom’s first novel STAR TRADERS was a stage play in his head that wouldn’t go away. So he wrote it down. It got rejected. His next novel was published as RETREAD SHOP (Warner Books, 1988). It was off to the writing races and Tom’s many voyages of imaginative discovery have led to 18 published novels, a book of poetry, and a conviction that when Humans reach the stars, we will find them crowded with space-going Aliens. We will be the New Kids On The Block! This theme appears in much of Tom’s short fiction and novel writing.

Tom lives in Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA and hangs with a group of smart and tolerant Westerners. Divorce has taught him to smile a lot and to work at being a Nice Guy. Still, he is pretty weird. Has been since fourth grade when he began reading SciFi. Since then, he and Authority have rarely been in agreement.

Readers are welcome to visit his T. Jackson King Facebook page. If you Friend him you will get the latest news on his writing efforts! Also, Tom’s Twitter handle is @TJacksonKing. Reviews of his novels, interviews and news of upcoming novels can be found at his author page on http://www.tjacksonking.com/.

Cancer Cures by Ray Reynolds

Cancer Relativity Cover KDP 6About Cancer Cures by Ray Reynolds:

There is no other medical subject about which more information has been written with so little positive results. After a total expenditure of more than $2 trillion since 1970 with the sole purpose of finding a viable cure for cancer its’ rate has more than doubled. The medical care establishment refers to anything except chemotherapy, radiation and surgery as “quackery” while the proponents of each alternative treatment tend to be very dogmatic about their particular therapies as well. This intransigence creates a situation where there is no discussion between them about possible crossover treatments that would incorporate the best aspects of each. Many alternative cancer treatments have been shown to be equally effective in the treatment of cancer even though they contradict one another. Some of them also prohibit the consumption of various nutrients which even the mainstream research facilities have proven to be highly anti-carcinogenic. In this book I have tried to outline a synergistic approach to alternative cancer treatment, which combines the best aspects of each of the treatments. It also contains the ingredient lists, recipes and dosages for the more popular alternative cancer treatments. Will be discounted from $2.99 to $.99 from Aug. 22 to Sept. 10

Author Bio:
I’m a 66-year-old research biologist and life-long bodybuilder. About twelve months ago I had a massive heart attack while under sedation for surgery followed by 2.5 hours of CPR and a one-week coma. A month later my weakened heart went into congestive heart failure so severe that I could not walk 20 feet without being out of breath. Along the way I had and cured 3 basal cell carcinomas. I should have died many times over but having decided that there was no viable up side to that strategy I did my research and found cures for all of my afflictions.

Only 5% of CPR recipients survive longer than 30 minutes. That must put me in the .5% percent group. Only 50% of extended coma victims survive. 40% of all congestive heart failure patients die within the first year. I currently walk a mile to the gym every other day and lift the same weights as prior to my Congestive Heart Failure and then walk back to my apartment. Additionally I walk a couple of more miles each day to shop or visit friends. All of this is in Arequipa, Peru at an altitude of 7,500′ where there is 17% less oxygen per breath. I’m a serial survivor who should have died many times over and I have been trying to analyze and quantify the why of it ever since.

Author Bio:
When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.

In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada with their Pug/Terrier cross Lou and several unnamed goldfish. She loves to hear from readers and can be reached through her website at www.janarichards.com
