Walder was born in Haifa in 1969. He attended Yeshivat Kol Torah and Knesses Chizkiyahu before getting married and serving in the Israeli army as a soldier-teacher.
After his discharge he continued to work as an educator and also embarked on a writing career.

Since 1990, Walder has been a regular columnist for the Yated Ne’eman, writing about social issues. He also hosts a popular radio talk show.
