I live in the beautiful Northern Arizona mountains with my clever husband, charming kids, and an incredibly sassy cat. After many years and several colleges, I managed to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in English with an emphasis on creative writing from the University of Washington.
My books are mixed-genre mysteries full of mayhem and fun, romance and comedy, and whatever else feels right. Sisters in Crime was kind enough to let me join their membership years ago. In addition, I’ve been a member of Romance Writers of America for so many moons that I’ve lost count.
I have written several contemporary, award-winning novels, in multiple series, full of quirky characters who I love to spend time with as much as reality allows. Right now, while you’re reading this, I’m probably frolicking around in another story.
While my reading preferences range from adventure to horror to mystery, ever since I tried on my first training bra, I have loved a good mix of romance, too.

The Payback Game
A decorated New York City detective in the prime of his life suddenly dies of a heart attack. Or so it seems.
But a star columnist for the Daily News isn’t buying it. No way, no how. Using information supplied by a street snitch, the investigative reporter believes that the cop was killed by a hitman who used a shot of potassium chloride to simulate a heart attack.
When the reporter starts nosing around, he himself is killed by an assassin who disappears without a trace.
Months later, when the dead reporter’s murder goes stone cold, a retired legendary columnist hires rogue private investigator, Frank Boff, to hunt down the killer.
Boff and his sidekick, boxer Danny Cullen, team up once again, and this time they find themselves up against a ruthless biker gang, bent cops, and a criminal mastermind who’ll stop at nothing to launch a multi-million dollar criminal operation in Brooklyn.
Lied to, shot at, and constantly under threat, Boff and Cullen cut through layers of deceit and misdirection to zero in on the mastermind with one intention only: to seek and destroy.

Good Together
Some love stories have to begin with a falling-out-of-love story…
Mattie Carrigan’s been helping her rodeo cowboy husband Wes Bishop run his family’s Tennessee Walking Horse operation since they were married nineteen years ago. Blessed with twin daughters who’ve recently left for college, Mattie is looking forward to this new stage in her and Wes’s life.
But when she finds a strange key in her husband’s jacket, she’s forced to admit that Wes has been quiet and distant lately. Turns out he has been keeping secrets. And he’s not the only one. Even the rancher next door, Nat Diamond–a friend Mattie could always count on in the past–seems to be holding something back from her.
Good Together is for anyone who has ever pondered what it means to be married. Or had to reinvent her life when one breaks down. It’s about having your heart broken but being strong enough to survive and love again.

Hard to imagine a more glamorous life than being an accountant, isn’t it? Still, I gave up the thrills of income tax forms and double entry book-keeping when I sold my first book in 1998. I’ve now written more than 40 (2 of which were nominated for RITAs by the Romance Writers of America).
When I’m not writing I love to be out hiking, cross-country skiing or biking. I’m not athletic–I just enjoy the outdoors, especially here in Calgary, where I live, and on Flathead Lake, Montana, where we have a cottage. My partner Mike and I share this in common. We also love to play cribbage and Scrabble. If a glass of wine is on the table, so much the better!

Lady of the Flames by Barbara Monajem
About Lady of the Flames by Barbara Monajem:
Magic is fraught with peril—but so is love.
Lord Fenimore Trent’s uncanny affinity for knives and other sharp blades led to duels and murderous brawls until he found a safe, peaceful outlet by opening a furniture shop—an unacceptable occupation for a man of noble birth. Now Fen’s business partner has been accused of treason. In order to root out the real traitor, he may have to resort to the violent use of his blades once again.
Once upon a time, Andromeda Gibbons believed in magic. That belief faded after her mother’s death and vanished completely when Lord Fenimore, the man she loved, spurned her. Five years later, Andromeda has molded herself into a perfect—and perfectly unhappy—lady. When she overhears her haughty betrothed plotting treason, she flees into the London night—to Fen, the one man she knows she can trust. But taking refuge with him leads to far more than preventing treason. Can she learn to believe in love, magic, and the real Andromeda once again?

Author Bio:
Barbara Monajem grew up in western Canada. She wrote her first story, a fantasy about apple tree gnomes, when she was eight years old, and dabbled in neighborhood musicals at the age of ten. At twelve, she spent a year in Oxford, England, soaking up culture and history, grubbing around at an archaeological dig, playing twosy-ball against the school wall, and spending her pocket money on adventure novels. Thanks to her mother, she became addicted to Regency romances as well. She is the award-winning author of several Regency novellas, many of which include elements of magic, and the Bayou Gavotte series of paranormal mysteries. Apart from writing, she loves to cook (especially soups), and the only item on her bucket list is to succeed at knitting socks (which she doubts she will achieve). She lives near Atlanta, Georgia, with an ever-shifting population of relatives, friends, and feline strays.

Catherine Gardiner was born and raised next to rolling green meadows in Yorkshire, England where she resides with her beloved border collie. When she is not writing she is either researching for her upcoming novels, taking photographs, cooking or going for long leisurely walks along a nearby river. She first conceived the idea for her novels when she was doing a creative writing course in college and had to walk home alone through a wood where she often imagined what might be in the shadows. She also thinks her love of writing and her passion for all things creative is due to her Irish roots.

Jack Pine
When the sixteen year old daughter of a prominent attorney is raped in a woodshed and a logger found shot the next morning, Deputy Sheriff Reuger London becomes embroiled in a war between environmentalists, the Ojibwa Indians fighting for their timber rights, and the ruthless son of a powerful logger. Ben Johnson is the biggest logger in the Northwoods and his son Cliff will soon take over the business. Logging is dying a slow death from environmental restrictions and all that’s left are the scrub firs and jackpine. But far up in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota are trees called the Old Pines. These three hundred year Norwegian pines are priceless and Johnson Timber wants them.
A radical leader of Earth First, Tom Jorde, will do anything to stop the logging in the Boundary Waters. Then another logger is murdered and Jorde is implicated. The town pressures Reuger to stop the environmentalist and arrest an Indian, Tommy Toboken, for the rape of the girl. Tommy had saved his life once before and Reuger knows he is being setup. When he falls in love with the lawyer brought to town to defend Tom Jorde and realizes Johnson Timber is going to log out the Federally protected trees, Reuger is torn between old loyalties and what is right.
