Freedom Vs. Aliens
Jack Munroe’s anti-Alien crusade runs into a roadblock. The Unity rulers of Earth attack his Asteroid Belt home. They aim to ally with the predatory Hunters of the Great Dark. But Jack is not about to let Earth be run by Alien predators who treat subject peoples as serfs and living meals. He attacks Unity space bases on Earth, destroys the Unity headquarters in Switzerland and encourages America and other nations to reclaim their independence. Jack then leads a fleet of powerful starships out to the stars to make a Freedom Alliance with subject Aliens. That requires finding common ground for Humans, the Melagun hippos and the ChikHo ostriches. Which he vows to do. Jack is determined to subvert a galactic system that says only carnivore predators can travel star-to-star! This 89,000 word combat SciFi tale continues the story of Jack Munroe, the leader of an anti-Alien crusade that aims to teach the protein-hungry predator Aliens that Humans are the galaxy’s Top Predator! But first they have to fight off an attack on his Asteroid home by the Unity world government. Then they make humanity’s second interstellar trip, with the aim of setting free subject peoples who are munched on by the Hunters of the Great Dark. Jack’s second trip through the stars is also an effort to establish a Freedom Alliance for all species. The story is evolutionary biology writ big on the cosmic scale, as Jack leads his Asteroid Belt buddies and Mars allies in a fight that shouts Humans are the apex predator of the stars!

Author Bio:
T. Jackson King (Tom) is a professional archaeologist and journalist. He writes hard science fiction, anthropological SciFi, dark fantasy/horror and contemporary fantasy/magic realism–but that didn’t happen until he was 38.
Before then, college years spent in Paris and in Tokyo led Tom into antiwar activism, hanging out with some Japanese hippies and learning how often governments lie to their citizens. The latter lesson led him and a college buddy to publish the Shinjuku Sutra English language underground tabloid in Japan in 1967. That was followed by helping shut down the University of Tennessee at Knoxville campus in 1968 and a bus trip to Washington D.C. for the Second March on Washington where thousands demanded an end to the Vietnam War.
Temporary sanity returned when Tom worked in a radiocarbon lab at UC Riverside and earned an MA degree in Archaeology from UCLA. His interests in ancient history, ancient cultures and journalism got him several government agency jobs that paid the bills, led him to roam the raw landscape of the Western United States, and helped him and his wife Leslee raise three kids.
A funny thing happened on the way to normality. By the time he was 38 and doing federal arky work in Colorado, Tom’s first novel STAR TRADERS was a stage play in his head that wouldn’t go away. So he wrote it down. It got rejected. His next novel was published as RETREAD SHOP (Warner Books, 1988). It was off to the writing races and Tom’s many voyages of imaginative discovery have led to 15 published novels, a book of poetry, and a conviction that when Humans reach the stars, we will find them crowded with space-going Aliens. We will be the New Kids On The Block! This theme appears in much of Tom’s short fiction and novel writing. That writing has earned Amazon Bestseller status for most of Tom’s SciFi novels.
Tom lives in Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA and hangs with a group of smart and tolerant Westerners. Divorce has taught him to smile a lot and to work at being a Nice Guy. Still, he is pretty weird. Has been since fourth grade when he began reading SciFi. Since then, he and Authority have rarely been in agreement.
Readers are welcome to visit his T. Jackson King Facebook page. If you Friend him you will get the latest news on his writing efforts! Also, Tom’s Twitter handle is @TJacksonKing. Reviews of his novels, interviews and news of upcoming novels can be found at his author page on http://www.tjacksonking.com/.

When I was in the third grade, my teacher would hold up a picture of a Dr. Seuss character and we had to write a story about it, our own creation. The winner received the Dr. Seuss image. The first week I lost but listened intently to the winners’ story. I thought, oh that’s how you have to write. I won every week after that and have been writing ever since.

The Monsters’ Anonymous Club: Don’t Play With Dead Things by J.L. Lipp
About The Monsters’ Anonymous Club: Don’t Play With Dead Things by J.L. Lipp:
FREE on Amazon Kindle March 26 -30, 2015!
Dead people can be super cranky when they’re mad. Just ask Jeremy Bauer, second vice-president of the Monsters’ Anonymous Club and first place winner in the “World’s Worst Brother” contest. He found out the hard way.
Jeremy should have known better than to taunt the unseen spirits that lurked around every corner in his hometown of Bayview, Michigan. After so many close calls with wild werewolves and vicious vampires and ghastly ghosts, he should have had the common sense not to play with dead things. But common sense wasn’t one of Jeremy’s stronger traits, especially if there was any possibility to make a joke or get a laugh.
And so, at 9:42 p.m. on Sunday, July 2nd, Jeremy Bauer cast aside all caution to play a little prank on his mother. Unfortunately for Jeremy, he never realized that he was breaking rule number three of the Monsters’ Anonymous Club: Never play a joke on your parents when dead people are watching.
Fortunately for Jeremy, the Monsters’ Anonymous Club is ready for action!

Born in 1946, Dave Riese grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, graduating from Arlington High School in 1964.
He attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, majoring in English literature. During his junior year, he studied English Literature at Oxford University.
After graduating in 1968, Riese enlisted in the Air Force one step ahead of his draft board’s invitation to join the army. He married Susan, his high school girlfriend, during leave between tech school and his posting to the Philippines at Clark Air Base. During his final two years in the military, he and his wife lived near Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington D.C.
Discharged from the military in 1972, he attended Boston University on the GI Bill for a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. The following summer he was hired by the University of New Hampshire to script and film videotapes about government social programs for the elderly.
His videotape grant ran out in 1976, but luckily at that time, companies were eager to hire people for their IT departments. With no computer experience, Riese was hired by Liberty Mutual Insurance to attend their three-month training course. He learned later that the major reason he was hired was his writing and communications background. He has often said, “This goes to show you that an English degree is a valuable asset!”
During his 35 years in information technology, the industry evolved from mainframes to personal computers using the internet. “Computers have been very, very good to me,” he says. He retired from Massachusetts Financial Services in spring of 2012.
He and his wife moved north of Boston in 1974. Their daughter lives in Ireland with her husband. Their son and his wife are both pediatricians working in Rhode Island. They have four grandchildren.
Since retirement, he spends 3 – 4 hours a day, writing, usually in a local coffee shop.
Genesis of the novel:
Before going to work, I’d often meet an elderly Jewish woman in the coffee shop downstairs from my office. We talked ‘books,’ sharing a similar taste in fiction. When she learned that I was a writer, she told me many stories about her experiences growing up in Montreal before and after WWII. Her story about her engagement as an 18-year-old girl astounded me. She invited me to ‘write it up,’ thinking it would make an interesting short story. Over the next ten months, I gave her chapters to read. When the 300-page manuscript was finished, she hefted the pages laughing, “This weighs more than a short story!”

The Adventures of Mothupi: The Story of Determination, Courage and Hope by JB Malatji
About The Adventures of Mothupi: The Story of Determination, Courage and Hope by JB Malatji:
It is not what happens to us that matters but what we do about it. Many people believe that life is not fair, that it does not grant the same opportunities to all but the few. They want to understand why it is so easy to believe a lie than the truth and human psyche of deriving pleasure in hurting others than helping them. The truth is that life becomes what we make out of it. The process of making something good out of every misery, pain and suffering is not determined in any way by age, gender, race or one’s background.
Mothupi was an average young village boy from a family with strong ethical and moral standards. His grandfather, Tau, was brought up with values that made him a respected chief elder in Kofiti village. Tau in turn taught these values to his children and instructed them to do the same to their children.
Mothupi and his family were honest, peace loving, generous and law abiding citizens who believed in doing the right things right. It was a family that went through hardships and learned forgiveness, perseverance and tenacity through their life’s ordeal. While most people could have been hardened by the circumstances surrounding Mothupi’s early life, he learned compassion, generosity, kindness and decided to do things to and for people not because he could but that he cared.
It is true that we become what most of the time occupies our minds and hearts. Mothupi brought up his children on the foundation of the teachings his father, Zazo, instilled on him.
We all have the power to determine who and what we want to become regardless of where we find ourselves in the hierarchy of life or hardships and challenges we may face. Mothupi’s story epitomizes the triumphal character of the human spirit. It teaches us that nothing and nobody can make us fall short of our dreams but us. No amount of pain, suffering, fear, and failure can deter a determined soul.
It will take emotional strength, mental focus, physical discipline and spiritual courage to change counter- productive behavioural tendencies. You can curse your yesterday even the day you were born but must be careful of what you say about your today and tomorrow for that has the power to shape your life. History is essential for reference but what is of most importance is today and tomorrow for in them history can be made. The past is the foundation, the present is valuable and the future is most important.
This book reminds us of the importance of finding our purpose in life and that it takes determination, faith and courage to pursue and live our dreams. It also reminds us of the influence and role fathers play in the raising up of children.
Human nature is human nature and wherever one might find oneself, the central questions and dilemmas are universal and the ethical aspects that arise from the story bear reflecting upon whatever tradition one is from.
