Loretta Collins loves working at the mill, but leading a women’s revolt supersedes. When Pittsburgh Steel Corporation refuses to honor the newly signed Equal Pay Act, the women workers have no other choice but to strike.
In flocks, they leave from behind cash registers and teachers desks. From behind kitchen sinks, typewriters, sewing machines, and hot stoves. They drop their Avon and call their sisters. They call their mothers, best friends, and cousins.
Dorothy Delveky sees this as the perfect opportunity to showcase her all girl band. They play throughout the day during the strike and venture to Pittsburgh’s popular South Side to play into the night.
Marge gets saved from jumping off the bridge and ends up across the river at the rock show, where she gets her pizza spiked with mushrooms! Now she’s living it up in the Steel City.
There’s only one problem. A dead husband.
Will the women workers of Pittsburgh Steel Corp. ever get equal pay? And is PMS a good enough reason for murder?

Marge and the women of Pittsburgh Steel Corp have been looking forward to President Kennedy signing the Equal Pay Act so they can finally get paid what they’re worth at the mill. It doesn’t go off without a fight and in the midst of intense protesting, Marge is pre-menstrual and accidentally murders her husband on purpose!
Now her friends of Salvaging Grapes, Pittsburgh’s all girl band, have to peel her off the Tenth Street Bridge to save her from jumping. They bring her along to their rock show, where she’s fed magic mushrooms.
Once word gets out about the murder Marge’s friends are torn between giving her up and hiding her.
In the midst of an intense feminist protest pre-menstrual Marge accidentally murders her husband on purpose!

I’m living with my family in a detached house in the Rhodope Mountains in Europe. The place is very peaceful and calm, with unique views and an amazing climate. We have a cat who is a big philosopher and loves to sleep on the sun-drenched lawn in the front yard. I loved reading sci-fi and fantasy since I was a child and started writing in those genres when I was eight. I never visited any writing classes but I studied books on writing and followed their advice diligently. There are people who have very developed imagination, they can create whole worlds and many amazing things, and I’ve always envied them. I just can’t do the same. In my novels I aim for the same thing every time – to collect various facts about the world and put them into a complete system – my world view, my philosophy. And it’s always people who are at the center of my philosophy: my characters. I really love all of them. They are like my closest friends, they’re almost like family to me. Sometimes it seems to me that I have sex not with my husband but with my characters!

Tales of Yorr by D J Meyers

Tales-of-Yorr-Front-Cover-IV-b-SMLAbout Tales of Yorr by D J Meyers:

A Mediaeval Monk in need of a Chiropractor

What if Richard III was not a hunchback… What if one of his bastard sons was…

This is the tale of Yorrick, bastard son of Richard III, hunchback extraordinaire. Scholar, poet, lover, husband, adventurer and warrior. A dab hand at Latin, he has quite a way with words, usually in verse across a tawdry bar.

Set between the years 1483 (Yorrick’s birth) and 1550 (his unfortunate and bloody demise), Tales of Yorr follows Yorrick of York. A hunchback from birth, he is the son of a King, who lives without the privileges of Courtly life, but he is compensated with schooling at Eton following the death of his mother from the dreaded Sweating Sickness. Yorrick uses his time well, fending off names and beatings, while making jokes at his own expense. He becomes a scholar, returning to Eton as Latin Master. His life changes irrevocably when he is asked to tutor the Lady Adeline, privately. She discovers the man beneath the hunchback, the wit and the gentleness of a creature often wronged. Her love for him changes their lives irrevocably as they elope for France, defying her father’s wishes that she marry a Lord.

Yorrick is captured and indentured into the King’s forces, where he serves in the Battle of Saint-Mathieu, becoming legend as the British Beast who brought down two Breton Ships. There he rekindles an old school friendship with Edward of Wokingham. They serve together under Henry VIII at the Battle of the Spurs. The King offers to knight the hunchback for his bravery, yet he refuses, asking instead to resume his life as a Latin Master. The wish is granted and Yorrick returns to Eton, eventually becoming Head Master. His life, while not fulfilled romantically, is fulfilling, until his lineage is discovered and the hunchback is sent before the King.

Making the most of his deformity and uncanny resemblance to his father, Yorrick sits for a portrait – as Richard III, before playing jester and mocking his family line. King Henry is suitably pleased and grants Yorrick a pardon, as long as he can amuse the Court. The Sweating Sickness returns, consuming the Lady Anne Boleyn. Yorrick saves his neck again by becoming physician, returning the Lady Anne to health. Pardoned again, he is banished to a monastery where he uses his learning and writing skills to decorate illuminated manuscripts and create indulgences for the wealthy wicked. He is far from a monk, often playing jester at the local inn, The Spraint Otter, between dalliances with the local bar maids. The dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII returns Yorrick to the world. He fulfils three promises in wending his way to Jerusalem on a pilgrimage, where he meets two young knights; one who becomes a lifelong friend, while the other hunts him as he has for many years… an enemy to all the offspring of Richard III. Yorrick’s demise is bloody, yet his story does not end, his two books – Tales of Yorrick and Richard III – become the object of a young man from Stratford, who robs Yorrick’s grave with his accomplice Horatio. Not everyone agrees who wrote William’s work, perhaps he was inspired by a character such as this. Alas, for poor Yorrick, we may never really know.

Author Bio:
I was born beneath a lamington blanket on a pavlova pillow in Melbourne, Australia. A place about as far from anywhere in the world as you can get, unless you’re familiar with a map of Tassie, which I’m sure you all are.

I spent many years writing songs, but the past ten years have been all about the novel. Why? Because it was there.

The books, under the umbrella of The Gargoyle Chronicles, blend historic fiction, romance, humour and/or science fiction (often all four in one tale.) The first release from The Gargoyle Chronicles is Tales of Yorr, inspired by the discovery of Richard III in a car park. D J, through his muse Yorrick, speculates on how history is written by the victor and how a disability does not necessarily hinder a life. Yorrick the hunchback discovers how rewarding a life can be by remaining true to himself, while always seeing the funny side of life. D J, much to the chagrin of those around, has a similar outlook on life.
So, what do I like. Hmmm… good question mysterious Internet user. Well, I majored in English and History, love a good shot of Sci-fi or a classic, and spend my spare time travelling the world. You’ll find many of the ports I have visited depicted in the novels I write, from Europe to Asia, Australia and Africa.

A challenge is what I require when writing a book, a mystery of plot and a few multi-faceted characters. This eclecticism stems from my penchant for variety. I enjoy many things in many arenas and infuse my tales accordingly.

So what is the Gargoyle, who is D J the writer? Those questions are as difficult as my birth and the birth of these books, but if you are interested, if you have an intrepid mind, sample Tales of Yorr. There are many written, yet to be released, from Mysteries to Historical Fiction, Sci-fi and Historical Romances, all infused with a unique sense of humour. Enjoy…

“Katie Andraski is a brave writer and The River Caught Sunlight is an ambitious and intelligent novel. The real story is the one below the surface where nothing is as it seems.” John Dufresne

“It’s the lyric impulse that gives the novel its substance, but it’s packed also with new and startling maneuvers of human beings–no family–against one another. A true new voice.” Larry Woiwode

“This book has a piercing insight at its heart as human as it is damning of religion gone off the rails.” Frank Schaeffer

Sometimes a person has to leave home, even if that home is the most marvelous place she’s ever lived, even if her mother will be diagnosed with terminal cancer, and her beloved farmer, a man she’s loved for years asks her to marry him. Janice Westfahl feels called to publicize Godspeed Books, a small evangelical publisher outside Chicago, a good thousand miles away from upstate New York. The job fits her, a woman who loves God and books. But Janice finds herself working with Jeremiah Sackfield, a radical right-wing activist, who toys with revolution. Even though she is a brilliant publicist, Janice feels like she is betraying herself by promoting a cause she doesn’t believe in. Like the elder brother in the Prodigal Son story, her brother has stayed home, furious his sister has dodged the painful months of his mother’s dying, while earning their father’s favor. When her father dies, they must settle the estate with this jealousy flickering between them.

Just Add Salt (Hetta Coffey Series, Book 2)

JustAddSalt_72dpi_RGB_dk2About Just Add Salt (Hetta Coffey Series, Book 2):

FREE! March 5-9, 2015

Hetta Coffey is a sassy Texan with a snazzy yacht, and she’s not afraid to use it!

A globe-trotting engineer with attitude, a penchant for trouble, and a yacht, Hetta is back, and this time she’s steering us into hot Mexican waters.

Miffed that vacation plans with her chronically absent boyfriend, Jenks Jenkins, have gone awry, she accepts a job in Baja.

So what, if she and her friend Jan are spectacularly unqualified to take her yacht on a thousand-mile cruise in the eastern Pacific Ocean during hurricane season?

Hiring a handsome, if somewhat fishy captain for the trip might keep them off the rocks, but probably won’t do the same for her future with Jenks. Meanwhile, a little eye candy on board can’t be all bad.

Hetta’s fierce independence impels her to tackle a very profitable (if environmentally and politically incorrect) project south of the border. True to form, her irreverent nature and disregard for danger soon swamps her in a sea of mayhem, illegal aliens, a pesky whale, and a menacing Mexican machinator.

Set sail for Baja Mexico’s Magdalena Bay as Hetta Coffey leads us once more into a morass of intrigue that will keep you laughing, and wanting more.

About Regarding Anna by Florence Osmund

Things that happen to you in the past can mold you into someone you’re not.

After recovering from the shock of her parents perishing in a tragic accident, Grace Lindroth discovers clues in their attic that cause her to believe the people she called Mom and Dad her whole life may not have been her real parents.

Tormented by the uncertainty of her identity, Grace searches for answers, and when certain clues draw her to a boardinghouse once owned by Anna Vargas, she becomes convinced that Anna was her real mother. But there’s more at stake than Grace’s identity, and a chance person in Grace’s life is determined to get a piece of it.

The lies and deceit that Grace unearths in her pursuit of the truth expose her to a variety of people with questionable morals and values and cause her to be distrustful of just about everyone—making her mission that much more difficult—but heighten her determination to uncover what she believes is essential for her to go on with her life.
