I wrote this book based on an experience I shared with my daughter when we went out to discover, think about, and discuss nature at a butterfly sanctuary on the Central California Coast. Our visit led us to an encounter with a vast number of Monarch butterflies, event that became a great learning opportunity for both of us. The bilingual book that I wrote as a result is more than a simple story of the natural world:

1. It encourages parent-child interaction, showing that every moment that parents and children share is an opportunity to learn something new.
2. It promotes values such as perseverance, resolve, and strength by using the example of a small and fragile butterfly undertaking an annual 2,500 mile migration.

The book can be enjoyed by people of all ages, but it’s primarily aimed at children between four and 12 years old.
