Dances of the Heart

perf5.000x8.000.inddAbout Dances of the Heart:

Successful, workaholic author Carrie Bennett lives through her writing, but can’t succeed at writing a man into her life. Furthermore, her equally successful but cynical daughter, Paige, proves inconsolable after the death of her fiancé.

Hard-drinking rancher Ray Ryder can find humor in just about anything—except the loss of his oldest son. His younger son, Jake, recently returned from Iraq, now keeps a secret that could shatter his deceased brother’s good name.

On one sultry night in Texas, relationships blossom when the four meet, starting a series of events that move from the dancehalls of Hill Country to the beach parties of East Hampton, and from the penthouses of New York to the backstreets of a Mexican border town. But the hurts of the past are hard to leave behind, especially when old adversaries threaten the fragile ties that bind family to family…and lover to lover.

DANCES OF THE HEART will be half price from Feb. 4-7 at http://www.wildrosepublishing.com/maincatalog_v151/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=195&products_id=6060

Author Bio:
Andrea Downing likes to say that when she decided to do a Masters Degree, she made the mistake of turning left out of New York, where she was born, instead of right to the west, and ended up in the UK. She eventually married there, raising a beautiful daughter and staying for longer than she cares to admit. Teaching, editing a poetry magazine, writing travel articles, and a short stint in Nigeria filled those years until in 2008 she returned to NYC. She now divides her time between the city and the shore, and often trades the canyons of New York for the wide open spaces of Wyoming. Family vacations are often out west and, to date, she and her daughter have been to some 20 ranches throughout the west. Loveland, her first book, was a finalist for Best American Historical at the 2013 RONE Awards. Lawless Love, a short story, part of The Wild Rose Press ‘Lawmen and Outlaws’ series, was a finalist for Best Historical Novella at the RONE Awards and placed in the 2014 International Digital Awards Historical Short contest. Dearest Darling, a novella, is part of The Wild Rose Press Love Letters series, and came out Oct. 8th, 2014, and Dances of the Heart, her first contemporary novel, comes out in February, 2015

Author Bio:
Born and raised in New York City, Tony Bertot, saw firsthand the tragedies of city life. Raised by strong, caring and responsible parents, Tony and his siblings escaped the pitfalls that so often befall those growing up in crime infested environments.

Honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1965, Tony went right to work for Bankers Trust as a keypuncher. After a few moves and some college, Tony ended up working for an international bank where he remained for approximately 32 ½ years before retiring in 2008.

Tony had written a short story for the son of a friend, who posed as a clown (Dipsy Daisy) over the weekends. Her son asked her to come to his class as a clown. She came to Tony concern about how to entertain the kids, since she didn’t know any magic tricks. Tony suggested telling them a story. After obtaining the names of all the kids in the class Tony wrote Mrs. Puntillo’s Circus. The story consisted of the kids becoming the performers at a circus they were visiting. It was a hit. In 2008 Tony retired and it was this friend who, as he walked out of the office for the last time, suggested he become an author.

Tony moved to Surprise, Arizona in 2010 from Cheektowaga, New York where he lived for approximately 20 years.

Besides writing, he spends much of his time playing pickleball and racquetball. He is also involved with sharing the care for his greatest fan, his 92 year old mother, Elena Bertot, who lives with his sister in Phoenix, Arizona.

The first thing Christine does when she’s getting ready to read a book is to crack the spine in at least five places. She wholeheartedly believes there is no place as comfy as the pages of a well-worn book. She’s addicted to buying books, reading books, and writing books. Books, books, books. She also has a weakness for adventure, inappropriate humor, and coke (the caffeine-laden bubbly kind). Christine is from Forest Hill, Maryland where she lives with her husband, three kids, and her library of ugly spine books.

Leave the blood and guts behind.

What happens when (torrid sex, masochistic violence, post apocalyptic depravity, stereotypical–nasty teens, and stories of fanatical religiosity) are all removed from stories?

There’s some blood, but no… gore.

Tribe: The Red Hand by Kaelyn Ross

Final-Tribe-Cover-jpeg-file-smaller-for-awesome-gangAbout Tribe: The Red Hand by Kaelyn Ross:

Long ago, the Red Fever transformed a world full of light and life into a primeval wasteland littered with relics and decaying cities. In time, the scattered remains of humanity gathered into small, warring tribes.

For sixteen-year-old Kestrel Stoneheart, the ghosts of yesterday have little bearing on the future she has worked for her entire life: to join the elite warriors of her tribe and protect her people against all enemies.

But before she can stand beneath the Bone Tree and become a Red Hand, she must first survive the rite of the Kill.

What Kestrel doesn’t know is that the greatest danger lies hidden within her own tribe, a menace that threatens not only her life but the very existence of her people.

Tribe is a 35,000 word young adult dystopian story. It is part one of a serialized work, in which each installment moves Kestrel a little farther along an adventurous road of discovery about herself and her world.

***

Q & A with Kaelyn Ross

Question: How would you describe Tribe?

Kaelyn: I love action movies and books with girls kicking butt! I wanted to write an action-packed adventure story with an exciting female lead. I also happen to be a sucker for dystopian stories, and so Tribe and Kestrel Stoneheart were born.

Q: What inspired you to write Tribe?

Kaelyn: I really enjoy young adult dystopian series such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner, so it seemed natural to write Tribe. Hopefully fans of those books will enjoy mine as well!

Q: Why did you choose to serialize Tribe?

Kaelyn: I am sort of a magpie in that I like to investigate shiny new things! For me, I feel a lot more engaged with the story and the characters when I get to have mini-adventures that lead up to a grand finale, like TV shows. Writing this way keeps my inner magpie happy, which makes the story fun and engaging for me and for my readers.

Q: When did you decide to become a writer?

Kaelyn: I think I first thought of it when I was about 6 months old. Just kidding! Honestly though, I’ve been a writer for most of my life. Telling exciting stories is all I’ve ever wanted to do. Life is short and I want to spend it doing what I love. I hope readers have as much fun with my work as I do, because I plan on sticking around for a long time to come!

Q: When will the next installment of Tribe come out?

Kaelyn: Very soon. Writing shorter works allows me to write faster, so my plan is to have a new book out every 3 to 4 weeks! I will post updates on my blog and Facebook page. Stay tuned :)

Okay, first thing you should know about me: I’m a total magpie. I’m noisy, and very easily distracted by shiny things! I love Halo (long live Master Chief!), action movies, and Reese Cups. I also love barrel racing, but my horse is much better at it than I am. I’m a full-time writer, and also a biologist. I married my high-school sweetheart, and he is still my best friend. We like to hike the mountains near our home in beautiful Montana with our Mini-Schnauzer Max. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Hunger Games, LoTR, and Pharrell Williams. I keep hoping that Hogwarts is really out there somewhere :)

Author Bio:
Jessica J. Jones, author of THE FAULT IS IN US Series, is an interior design expert and wellness coach and counselor. She graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, and a minor in Health and Wellness Coaching. Upon graduating from college Jessica began working for a local interior design company, creating her own unique designs based on the minimalist style of art that first gained popularity in the 1960s and was made famous by artists such as Andy Warhol. After working as a designer for over 10 years, Jessica’s interest in health and wellness led her change career paths and form her own business in the field of wellness coaching. An avid practitioner of yoga and a health-food fanatic, she specializes in coaching people in various areas of mental and emotional wellness including self-esteem, stress elimination, and confidence building. Jessica teaches classes and runs workshops on self-help topics in these and other areas of wellness and health.
Raised in Tucson, Arizona, Jessica has always been a lover of all kinds of art. Jessica’s interest in interior design dates back to her childhood, when her love for artistic expression led her to experiment with all different types of art mediums, ranging from painting and drawing to woodworking, and especially her favorite artistic endeavor: designing furniture and other decorations for her dollhouses. This hobby continued to be Jessica’s favorite pastime well into her teenage years, and along with her avid reading of her mother’s Better Homes and Gardens and Martha Stewart magazine subscriptions, it sparked in her a growing interest in design and furnishing trends that has stayed with her to this day.
Jessica attended high school in her home town of Tucson, but always wished for a quieter lifestyle away from the rush of the big city. However, she continued to love the culture and art of the Southwest, so after completing her high school education, Jessica chose to enjoy the best of both worlds by attending college at Northern Arizona University in the considerably smaller Southwest town of Flagstaff, just north of the city where she grew up. She took her love for art and design and applied it to her studies, majoring in Interior Design. Having been raised in a family that placed a high value on healthy lifestyles and wellness, Jessica decided on a minor in Health and Wellness Coaching, allowing her to apply her own interests and the values that she was raised with to help others live healthy and fulfilling lives. Jessica worked part-time as a yoga instructor throughout her college years to help finance her education without the burden of student loans, and by doing so gained significant experience in the field of wellness and coaching.
After graduating from college, Jessica was hired by an interior design firm in Flagstaff where she had interned during college. She worked her way up in the company until she was eventually managing entire projects on her own, designing spaces and furnishing homes and businesses with the same passion that she used to create designs for her dollhouses as a child. Visiting Japan one year sparked an interest in the very simple, minimalistic style of design that is common in the Orient, and this stuck with Jessica after she returned home from vacation. From that point on her own style of design began revolving around the concept of minimalism, and this continued to be her primary focus throughout her interior design career. Wishing to remove herself from the corporate lifestyle that comes with working at a big company, Jessica opened her own small interior design studio in downtown Flagstaff, serving clients from private homeowners to real estate companies and business owners from a variety of fields.
Jessica spent over 10 years in the interior design business before she decided that she needed a change of pace. Although Flagstaff was much smaller than Tucson, she longed for an even less hectic lifestyle, and relocated to the small town of Sedona, Arizona, where she followed the path that she had started in college and opened her own yoga studio. The culture of Sedona was very conducive to Jessica’s passion for health and wellness, and Jessica soon began her own health and wellness coaching business. In addition to her yoga classes, Jessica began giving workshops and teaching classes on other wellness-related topics such as stress elimination and building self-confidence. Jessica’s easy-going style and calm presence make her the prefect coach to inspire others to develop techniques that will help them create a stress-free lifestyle of their own.
Jessica has recently added writing to her professional portfolio, publishing her first book The Fault is in the Clutter in 2014. Building on the groundwork of minimalist design concepts, Jessica uses this book to guide readers through the process of simplifying their homes, from their furnishings to their computer files, in order to achieve a sense of relaxation and inner peace in their daily lives. People with busy, complicated lifestyles are sure to benefit from Jessica’s down-to-earth approach to stress-free living through organization and a simplified lifestyle. In this book, Jessica give practical tips and step-by-step methods for de-cluttering and removing the hectic feeling that is so common in the modern, fast-paced world that most of us live in.
Herself a minimalist to the core, Jessica and her husband Mike live in a small house on the outskirts of Sedona. They have no children, no car, and only the most essential belongings. This lifestyle gives them the freedom to travel all around the country and experience what the world has to offer without any complications to hold them back. Jessica is currently working on her next book on the topic of confidence-building habits, which she hopes to publish soon.
