Renee Rose is an author of erotic romance. She received a Bachelor's of Arts in Creative Writing from Knox College, where she was trained to write poetry and literary fiction and was the recipient of the Lorraine Smith prize for short fiction. Upon graduation, she took a gig writing instruction manuals (yawn!) and sales and marketing copy for an engineering firm. After thirteen years numbing her mind and allowing her creative juices to evaporate, she read her first romance novel and was hooked. She lives in the southwest with her husband and young children.

  6. I’ll Have The Soup And Salad by Katherine Baldwin - 2012-08-30 17:43:54-04
I have written physical cookbooks and sold them locally in the past, but only on a part time basis when I could squeeze it into my busy schedule. Well, I have retired now and discovered the Amazon Kindle publishing format and am amazed at how much fun this all is. I also used to cater part time for a company that produced television commercials, but a job transfer interrupted that. Writing cookbooks is a great way to help people learn how to cook, an absolutely essential skill that a lot of people were missing out on.

  8. A Different Lifetime: stepping back in time in the former Yugoslavia - 2012-08-31 20:26:54-04
In 2006 I embarked upon a year of travelling in eastern Europe. I have chronicled my experiences and encounters during the first four months of this adventure in my new book: ‘A Different Lifetime: stepping back in time in the former Yugoslavia.’ My book is all about my living and working for four months in Vojvodina – a small and largely unknown and unexplored province of what was once Yugoslavia. I use the phrase “stepping back in time” because I literally found myself being absorbed into a culture and lifestyle that might seem to belong more to the early part of the twentieth century rather than to the beginning of the twenty-first. There were few cars, no large chain stores or fast-food outlets, just the old style grocers, bakers, greengrocers, and cafés. And I was amazed to find that many of these small shops and businesses still received their deliveries by horse and cart. I was living in a community that was so small that complete strangers would know who I was and exactly what my purpose in the community was – to teach English. An extraordinary level of honesty prevailed everywhere that would seem unheard of in the west, and people were always amazed to find that I should find it necessary to lock my door. And so against this background, my book unravels my adventures in Vojvodina, the friends I made, my experience of teaching English, and my attempts to explore the local area. Please feel welcome to read a chapter of my book free at any of the following locations: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008A7K1UE http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008A7K1UE http://www.amazon.de/dp/B008A7K1UE http://www.amazon.es/dp/B008A7K1UE http://www.amazon.it/dp/B008A7K1UE http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B008A7K1UE

  15. The Girl on the Mountain - 2012-09-02 15:05:18-04
I’ve been lucky. Years ago, I wanted to live on a farm, and my husband said “Let’s do it.” When personal computers were introduced, I wanted to know about them and have one, and lucky me, the school where I taught offered a course in Basic. When we bought our first computer, I found the best tool for a writer--word processing. Before that, I could not write without crossing out most of a typewritten or handwritten page, and progress seemed impossible. When I wanted to shift from teaching to writing, the first Macintosh computers came out, and I was lucky enough to offer, along with technical and business writing, the first “desktop publishing” in my county. And when finally I had the leisure to give a lot of time to a novel, my husband didn’t merely tolerate my commitment, he encouraged it.

  25. A Wicked Awakening: Book I in the Wicked Series by Calinda B - 2012-09-03 18:35:31-04
The Fun Part: Calinda B was told early on that she should be a writer. She heard frequent praise for her writing, as well as her sense of humor. Scoffing at such admonitions and praise, she went on to pursue her life of adventure, chock full of the things that make up a well-rounded adventurous life: music (yup, she was a singer in a rock and roll band), dance (even performed hip hop in Russia), rock climbing (ever hung from a rock wall a few stories up? Yikes!), fire walking (taught high-ranking Moscow fire officials how to walk the coals), kayaking, scuba diving (she's in love with sharks), travel, and falling in love again and again. Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with the love of her life and her two cats, she has now chosen to put fingers to keyboard and write - when she's not in pursuit of another adventure! The Daily Grind: College educated and life-experienced, Calinda B has worked in the world of computers and technology for a long time. Before that she worked in the world of health and fitness, as well as art. Throughout her career she has relied on her writing abilities to write articles, ad copy and web content.
  26. VENGEANCE WEARS BLACK by SEUMAS GALLACHER - 2012-09-03 18:48:20-04
Seumas Gallacher…Author Background Seumas Gallacher was born in the cradle of the Govan shipyards in Glasgow in the so-called ‘bad old days’ which were really the greatest of days, where everybody was a real character of note. An early career as a trainee banker led to a spell in London, where his pretence to be a missionary converting the English fell on deaf ears. Escape to the Far East in 1980 opened up access to cultures and societies on a global scale, eventually bringing the realization that the world is simply one large extended village. The lifelong desire to write resulted in THE VIOLIN MAN’S LEGACY, the first in a planned series. It has been downloaded more than 30,000 times to date. Seumas’ sequel novel, VENGEANCE WEARS BLACK was launched on Kindle in early July 2012, with three other books to follow in the same vein.

  29. A Provencal Mystery by Ann Elwood - 2012-09-03 19:05:15-04
I live in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, with six cats, a desert tortoise, seven box turtles, and a German Shepherd, Louis, who looks something like Rin Tin Tin in his soulfulness. At night I can hear the ocean when the tides are high. When I was nine, my family moved from Ridgewood to Saddle River, New Jersey, a paradise of a town with a woods, a skating pond, a fishing pond, and 700 people who knew who we all were and where we were every minute. After college (two miserable years at Trenton State Teachers College and two happy ones at Fairleigh Dickinson College), I taught elementary school for a few miserable years, then moved to Camden, New Jersey and landed a job as a typist-clerk at the Philadelpha Bulletin. When my boss discovered I had difficulty typing up circulation figures with twelve carbons, I was fired and found another job writing copy for a paternalistic insurance company that offered a low salary and delicious free lunch. One of the typographers had the magical ability to square up a stack of paper into a perfect rectangular solid. Eventually I moved to a studio apartment on Irving Place in New York City, and, after a few months of writing copy for a textbook company, went on to free-lance as a writer of anything anyone would pay me for. In 1967, I moved to Los Angeles, where I was advertising manager for a publishing company. Then the west coast was a mecca for writers and adventurers. Within a couple of years, I visited a Malibu beach house, fell in love (long-distance) with Bob Dylan, met Thomas Pynchon (he wouldn’t remember it), and saw Hair. In 1972, I returned to free-lancing and moved south. I wrote articles for Irving Wallace and his son, David Wallichinsky (People’s Almanac and Book of Lists), and did other wonderful things I won’t mention here. With Carol Orsag Madigan, I wrote several books. A desire to delve more deeply into ideas finally drove me to graduate school in 1981. My dissertation focused on an order of 17th and 18th century French nuns so I had to spend a happy year in France doing research. During that year, while not in the archives, I drank local wine with fellow historians and traveled the country with Puppy, who had far less trouble than I did communicating with the French. Now, I teach history part-time at California State University, San Marcos, spend time with Louis and the other animals, and write the books I have always wanted to write but never had the time for.

  45. Pike’s Quest by K J Bennett - 2012-09-05 18:05:28-04
I am a public servant: my employers have a rule that I can have a business interest as long as I don't use my job title to further it, so I can't say what I do. However, a small amount of digging on the internet will possibly give it away. I am a father of two teens - one male, one female, both headstrong, both wonderful (alternating with not-so-wonderful moments), and I am husband to the lovely Theresa (I am not worthy). I was born in August 1957 - that should save me from having to alter my age on a regular basis (well, annually, at least). Oh, and I write. Nearly forgot that bit. "Pike's Quest" is my first published novel and it's intended to be fun. Broadly, it would be classified as "Young Adult", but at various readings I've had groups of adults laughing out loud - hopefully at the content! I have a sequel to "Pike's Quest" in the pipe-line, which I hope to release before the end of 2012. 46. The Beginning Of The End: One and Two (The T.B.O.T.E. Series) by Michael Edward - 2012-09-05 18:08:08-04
I am Michael Edward, a husband, a father of six, a friend, and a self-proclaimed storyteller. I say storyteller because to use the word writer would be a misrepresentation, it might imply that I can write. I have always felt that my imagination was my strength and I always see everything as a movie. A lot of times when I write, its like I am sitting in a movie theater watching it on screen and I just write down what I see with the words that I know. I love to write screenplays and that bleeds into my writing style. Also, I have epilepsy, and my seizures have increased, so if they bleed into the writing I apologize. I just want to tell entertaining stories that give people a chance to escape reality for a bit. I mean no disrespect to writers. Right now I have six stories available to read: Enter Sandman, Fearlings ONE, Fearlings TWO, Fearlings THREE, The Beginning Of The End: ONE and TWO and then I have WHY (A storyteller's diary). I am currently working on The Beginning On The End: THREE and FOUR and hope to have it available by November, 2012. I am also always working on the sequels Enter Sandman TWO and Fearlings FOUR and will make them available as soon as they are completed. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read the sample chapters, to buy the stories, or to leave reviews. Like I said, being a husband and a father of six, I understand how valuable time is, and again, thank you.

  50. The Chesapeake: Tales & Scales - 2012-09-05 19:07:44-04
Rossignol founded The Chesapeake and the Solomon's Islander in 1988. Both publications were suspended in 1990 for the advent of the weekly tabloid ST. MARY'S TODAY. In 2010, The Chesapeake was brought back to life and the newspaper St. Mary's Today was sold. Now the best of the Chesapeake and the Solomon's Islander are being brought back to life along with dozens of brand new fishing tales and other nonsense from around the Chesapeake Bay region and elsewhere, like St. Croix and the Florida Keys! Larry Jarboe regularly penned articles on common sense in government, and conservation and clean energy issues for 20 years on a weekly basis in ST. MARY'S TODAY newspaper. He currently writes on a variety of fishing, boating, and travel topics as well as energy innovation in THE CHESAPEAKE and is the editor of the publication. Elected to the first of four terms in 1994 as a St. Mary's County Commissioner, Larry Jarboe has practiced a conservative Republican philosophy of being frugal with the taxpayer's money and yet has always supported the funding needed for public schools, public safety and vital services while casting a strong no vote on expenditures which are capricious and wasteful. Larry has been a charter boat captain and operated a saw mill in Charlotte Hall, Maryland for 25 years. He regularly explores new methods in providing clean and affordable energy as well as new fishing holes and methodology in catching fish. Larry's expertise on luring fish onto his line includes serenades and lullabies along with renewable bait such as grass shrimp. Larry also perfected the art of snorklefishing which was so effective it was outlawed. Look for Jarboe's new book: FISHY DEALS!

  59. The Three Diets Solution: The Proven Methods To Fast and Sustainable Weight Loss by Clarence Oliver - 2012-09-05 19:29:47-04
I had suffered from obesity my entire life. From the age of five I was so obese I suffered a deconditioned heart muscle, which meant that I had horrible chest pain, along with asthma, joint and muscle pain, and everything else. I've been on diets for years, trying to lose weight, doing everything in my power, and yet, no matter what I'd do, the weight wouldn't budge. I was a vegetarian, drinking only water, jogging two miles a day when I saw my highest weight of 347 pound. When I saw that, i was crushed, angry, depressed, I wanted to cry. Then, I became determined, determined to lose the weight, determined to get in shape, determined to be healthy. I read more tahn 200 books on health, psychology, weight loss, physiology, and everything else, along with more than 2000 research papers and studies, and soon the weight began to fall off. My writings on weight loss are a culmination of those years of study.

  71. I AM WOLF by Joann H. Buchanan - 2012-09-05 23:02:59-04
My name is Joann H. Buchanan and I wear many hats. One of the hats I wear is that of mom. That hat has a lot of stitches, patch jobs, glitter, bedazzler jewels and stains. It is the most important one in my life and the one I never take off. Between my fiancé John and I, we have 7 children. "WOW", I'm sure some of you are saying, while others are going, "Bread much?" The truth is that without them, I wouldn't know what to do. They are the most inspiring beautiful people in my life. The other hat I wear in my life is that of a writer. I've always been a writer. When I was a kid, my parents grounded me to my room with nothing to do but homework, read and write. One summer, I was grounded for leaving my kid sister at church. I look back now and laugh about it, but it was then that I discovered the love of writing. I ran out of things to read in my room, so I picked up a pencil and started writing. The first story I wrote was about a gypsy bird. A whole new world opened up for me. One I couldn't get enough of. I started taking the bus all over San Diego just so I could sit and write stories about the people who got on. They had stories of love, laughter, heartache, horror and yes some of them were evil. My parents never understood this but I didn't care. 5 years ago this Easter Sunday, we lost our house in a fire. We lost everything . . . almost. Sitting on my desk, was a stack of disks and a paper copy of a book I was working on. The computer, covered in ash and soot, melted down to nothing. Miraculously, nothing touched the stack of disks and the paper copy of the book. When I say nothing, I mean nothing. The paper was still white and the disks didn't have a bit of damage. It was like an angel had protected them. It was also a sign to me that I needed to do something with my writing. A few months later, John purchased my first laptop and I put a blog together. I didn't know what I was doing. Talk about being green. It took a couple years to learn what things were like query letters, polishing, and all the other stuff that comes with writing, but it was so worth it. When people ask me, how do you balance out your life? I tell them the truth. Not everything gets finished. There are days I forget to take the laundry out of the dryer. There are times when dinner is late and yes there are moments when I say to my family, let's just have fun tonight. I'm the person who dances in the rain and laughs when the milk is spilled. I try to remember that my children are this age once. Without any one of them, I wouldn't be doing anything I'm doing now. When people ask me why I wanted to get published, I tell them the truth on that as well. I wanted my children to know that dreams come true if you work hard enough and believe in yourself. I wanted my children to see me as an example. They have seen my mistakes; shouldn't they see my triumphs as well? To me that's the most important thing. They need to know that they are going to make mistakes but that doesn't cause their lives to end. Each one of them can still dream an accomplish anything they want. When people ask me why I write, I write for them. I write because it's as much a part of me as they are.
