- Behind the Scenes of The King’s Ransom (Book I of The Young Knights of the Round Table) by Cheryl Carpinello - 2012-09-10 14:04:32-04
Although a retired teacher, I still have a passion for working with kids. I regularly conduct Medieval Writing Workshops for local elementary/middle schools and the Colorado Girl Scouts. It seems I'm not the only one who loves Medieval Times and the King Arthur Legend. The kids thoroughly enjoy writing their own medieval stories complete with dragons, wizards, unicorns, and knights! I love to travel, and so my other job is with a major airline. My favorite trip was a two week visit to Egypt with my husband that included traveling by local train from one end of Egypt to the other. Some of my favorite books, like "The Hobbit," "The Lord of the Rings," Golding's "Lord of the Flies" and "The Once and Future King" by T.H. White were all written to offer hope to a world embroiled in another world war. "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens illustrates how unselfish true love enables people to offer the supreme sacrifice to preserve that love, while Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" shows how circumstances can cause people to do despicable acts. The one book that connects of all of these texts as well as a multitude of others is Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces." The journey of the hero, depicted by Campbell, is a universal theme that never dies out.

- HOMECOMING - 2012-09-10 14:08:23-04
I feel like I have been a writer all my life--from childhood essays that ended up in the Sunday School bulletin, to long-ago burned journals (I hate that I did that!), to love-sick poems written on napkins while having a glass or three of wine, to newsletters and articles and press releases written on-the-job, and finally to happily-ever-after romances. As an award-winning author of four print-published novels, I have now happily embraced the ebook revolution and I look forward to meeting new readers in cyberspace. I can't wait to share my stories with you! My website is: www.janetwellington.com There you can read about my print books (which will soon be re-pubbed as ebooks!). And you can reach me at: mail@janetwellington.com

- Ghost of Summer - 2012-09-10 23:52:05-04
I grew up in a small rural town in southeastern Oklahoma where our favorite entertainment on summer evenings was to sit outside under the stars and tell stories. When I went to bed at night, instead of a lullaby, I got a story. That could be due to the fact that everybody in my family has a singing voice like a bullfrog with laryngitis, but they sure could tell stories—ghost stories, funny stories, happy stories, scary stories. For as long as I can remember I've been a storyteller. Thank goodness for computers so I can write down my stories. It's hard to make listeners sit still for the length of a book! Like my family's tales, my stories are funny, scary, dramatic, romantic, paranormal, magic. Besides writing, my interests are reading, eating chocolate and riding my Harley. Currently I have three e-pubbed cozy mysteries, Death by Chocolate and its sequel, Murder, Lies and Chocolate, and The Ex Who Wouldn't Die. I have sold fifteen romance novels ranging from comedy to dark suspense under the names Sally Carleen, Sally Steward and Sara Garrett. For these novels, I won several awards including National Readers' Choice, Romantic Times Best Silhouette Romance and two Rita finalist slots. Most of the Silhouettes are available as e-books, and I have e-pubbed four of the out-of-print single titles. Contact information is available on my website. I love to talk to readers! And writers. And riders. And computer programmers. Okay, I just plain love to talk! http://www.sallyberneathy.com

- I Was In Love With a Short Man Once by Kimberly Dalferes - 2012-09-11 00:00:12-04
Kimberly “Kimba” J. Dalferes is a native Floridian, but has spent the past sixteen years pretending to be a Virginian. I Was In Love With a Short Man Once, an Amazon Best Seller, is her first book. She is a bit worried that much of her current writing seems to center on public transportation and she has no rational explanation as to why this is true. Her accomplishments have included successfully threading a sewing bobbin, landing a 35 pound Alaskan King salmon, and scoring a blue and white Chinese vase at an estate sale for $1. She recently discovered that there is a very real possibility that she might be related to Princess Margaret Tudor, the sister of King Henry the VIII (on her mama’s side). A proud Florida State University graduate, she often sings the Seminole fight song out loud for no reason other than she still knows all the words. She currently lives, works, and writes in Fairfax, Virginia with her husband Greg, dog Taz, and occasionally her son Jimmy, when he is home from college.
