There is a belief that an earlier society gave us our knowledge of engineering, math, astronomy, agriculture, and science. The question has always been asked but never answered. How did a group of nomadic farmers suddenly develop the skills and knowledge to build the great monolithic structures found around the world? A prolific writer since the age of fifteen, James Sanford has employed his prose to author numerous books, articles, stories, and one motion picture project. He sold his first short story to DC Comic Books when he was fifteen. His book, Storm Treasure, inspired an epic motion picture in 1999. Mr. Sanford holds a B.A. Degree in Mass Communications and an M.A. Degree in Communication Arts from California State University, Chico. He has also earned a PhD. in Education. For the past forty-two years, James has worked as a Teacher and Education Administrator in various venues, including Jr. High School, High School, Community College, and within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He has taught Science, English, Creative Writing, Art, Reading, Adult Basic Education, and Substance Abuse Education. I was born in 1955 in New Zealand and although I spent most of my childhood there, my family moved to England and Australia on two separate occasions. We settled in Sydney Australia, where I completed my secondary education. I had no clear idea about what to do with myself after leaving high school, so, like my brother I studied English Literature at Macquarie University. Afterwards, despite obvious creative leanings, I worked in various positions such as medical assessor, storeman/packer and taxi driver. Yet I had a desire to discover just who I was and what I really wanted to do with my life. This led me to pursue self development in the 1980’s and 90’s. I also took up art, photography and more recently writing. I had a profound insight into my own personality (as a natural “introvert”) in 2004, but it has taken the intervening years for me to understand its implications sufficiently to write “The Liberated Self”. About The Legacy

The story follows five Legacy Members that are tasked with maintaining the human race’s privilege of inhabiting the planet. Each member is uniquely different, with tragically different circumstances, but these circumstances begin to interconnect and “pollute” one another’s abilities to fulfill their tasks.

These five individuals represent a Legacy that is repeated every one-hundred years. The Legacy was installed by Helios, God of the Sun, to protect Earth from human abuse. There is an Original (Ellen) who must complete the Legacy before she dies, to ensure the survival of the human species. This will be accomplished once Ellen is convinced that humans deserve to survive, despite a life lived full of manipulation, abuse, and lies.

As the species evolves down the path of abusing the planet, though, this task becomes more and more difficult as humans destroy the Earth and treat one another without compassion or care. This story is the descriptions of the difficulties of completing the Legacy to save the human race, peppered with tragedy, loss, and split-second decisions that cause relationships to cross and intersect.
