All the Lines to Cross by Ashish Rastogi

About All the Lines to Cross by Ashish Rastogi

A sports star and a doctor. A jock and a nerd. Stop that eye roll. We know it is a trope washed threadbare on romance readers’ hands. But these two might just be the ones to shred it to pieces. At least Sharon will after meeting Jon.
He is a flirt, has an OCD about his football career, and an ego stuffed to the brim in a 6’4” frame.
She is no damsel in distress. An accomplished surgeon and the one holding the scalpel to get him back on the field. Stuck between their dance is Nate; playing cupid. Not a simple task when you are seven-years-old and the only adult amongst two petulant grownups. Stubborn brats!
For Sharon and Jon, falling in love is the cheesy part. Staying in love? Well, that’s a story for a different page on the playbook.
Hey, wait. Don’t walk away. We need all the help to knock the nonsense out of these two. Membership to their @meddlesomefriends group is open.

Cupboard of Skeletons by Raymond Nickford

About Cupboard of Skeletons by Raymond Nickford

In these stories I’ve tried to explore the lives of dysfunctional characters, some based on case studies that I read from the works of psychotherapists, particularly Alfred Adler and Sigmund Freud, while I was reading for my degree in philosophy and psychology but, more so, from my observation of troubled people in true life, though via an imaginative leap to the fictional characters.

In places, sometimes remote, there is a distinct sense of ‘presence’ if not ghosts but the ‘Cupboard of Skeletons’ is more a euphemism for people with dark or embarrassing secrets which haunt and test their lives and how the characters challenge fate and, against all odds, find something of their dreams.

Cupboard of Skeletons reflects my fascination with dysfunctional characters in family life who nevertheless may find that every cloud ultimately has a silver lining. If life is a struggle, however dire it may become, it really is still better to try and fail than not to try at all; so that if the end to a novel is not happy – in a sentimental sense – the book judged as a whole should be affirmative of life, uplifting.

Reviews:

“The author gives great voice to his characters, describing well their idiosyncrasies. A good story must either go deep or wide, and with Nickford’s background in psychology he goes deep within the human condition.”
Stephen Valentine – author of Nobody Rides for Free

“The characters, the settings, the story; emotional, intriguing, full of human interest.”
Andrew Wright, author of Sanctuary’s Loss

Author Bio:
Although my degree was in Psychology and Philosophy, my interest in the lonely, the outsider and the dysfunctional and their search for love has been inspired more by life and a feel for translating life into character and so into fiction.

I suppose my love of the expressive power of language leaves my work hovering somewhere between literary fiction and character observation – characters tested and driven to extremity and yet who still have the option to find happiness.

I hope each book title will deliver the sincerity of this, granted that each will have a different, setting, location, plot synopsis and emotional core.

Eden’s Legions

About Eden’s Legions

Humans are not welcome but tolerated as none of the galaxy’s other intelligent species has the strength to stop them. It is their natural talent for war that makes humans so feared. But behind curtains of peace an ambitious human general consolidates her power.

While the general endures peace, politics fail and weaken humanity’s once united cause. Sensing weakness, the general wakes her armies from decades of hypersleep. She will need all her strength and cunning, for the species she hopes to conquer is the most dangerous of them all, her own kind. Her conquest is promised in blood and fire, that is until the small scavenging crew of deserters intrudes on her cruel design. Not on purpose, of course.
