Destiny Unmasked by E M Collier

About Destiny Unmasked by E M Collier

Destiny Unmasked is free on 21st, 22nd and 23rd February 2020
Having built a successful electronics career in Singapore, Brad Curtis is asked by his friend Gavin to return to his home town and give his advice on a device Gavin has invented. He is reluctant to go as he is about to clinch a top position at a large company, but agrees to return for just a couple of days. However, when he arrives he is unable to discover anything about the invention, including its purpose and location.

During his investigations he becomes fascinated by the charismatic Craig Woodville, who, as well as looking for the device himself, seems to have the whole harbour town of Kingsworthy under his benign control. As he probes further, Brad’s past relationships and self-centredness challenge his view of himself. He also discovers the seemingly tranquil town conceals horrific secrets. He has to overcome indifference, ignorance, opposition and human wickedness before he learns the truth about the inhabitants of the town, and to his surprise, the truth about himself.

Matt Beighton was born and raised in the heady days of the 1980s and hasn’t really left them behind. He grew up in a small village on the outskirts of Leicester. He is an avid supporter of Leicester City, which isn’t something that he feels the need to hide nowadays.

After leaving university with a degree in Multimedia Computing, Matt drifted through the world of IT, spending a little bit of time in marketing before washing ashore on the beaches of web development.

Leaving that career behind, just as the exciting world of mobile apps started to take off, Matt became a primary school teacher. This was great as it gave him an excuse to read all of those books that adults sometimes feel bad about reading. If he could pass on one message to all the adults out there, it would be to read more children’s books.

About The Pursuit of Forgiveness 2.0: Unlocking Pragmatic Forgiveness by Melissa Reese

This is your opportunity to truly understand forgiveness and actually implement it. A nonreligious approach to utilizing forgiveness in a pragmatic and profound way.

Pragmatic forgiveness is as essential, basic, dynamic, and profound as eating. There is the concept of forgiveness, and then there is the actual application of it. City, Ruby by S. Seong

About City, Ruby by S. Seong

A city holds certain romance
but there is a deep and darkening feeling
I’m not sure where she could be,
but I can feel her red heart beating
I can feel this moment fleeting.

City, Ruby is a short read at only 30 poems, many as short as six lines. But the work in this chapbook is revolutionary in its aesthetic and honesty, recalling the beauty long lost in modern poetry. It is about beauty, lust, wealth, power, and the rest of the great existential promises of the city.

A third of the poems are written in Sijo, which is a Korean form of poetry that predates the Haiku.

This book will be free from February 21st to February 25th.

Ant and Cleo Book 1

About Ant and Cleo Book 1

Part one of the epic ‘Ant and Cleo’ series from Hugo-nominated author Dominic Green.

UFOs do not land in country parks. They are not piloted by Englishmen. They do not have nameplates saying “HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION.” And they are never, ever filled with smuggled catering packs of Monster Munch.

Britain has had a top secret colony in space for decades. Unfortunately, the colony has grown tired of being run by the mother country – and the mother country has decided it’s time to send in the military. A war of independence is going on, and one man’s rebel is another man’s freedom fighter. Between these two sides are Anthony Stevens and Cleopatra Shakespeare, abducted from England and hurled into a war between Britain, America, and the newly, fiercely independent United States of the Zodiac. A black girl from Northampton is about to encounter the dystopian U.S. colony of New Dixie, where the Deep South lives again and the white man rules supreme – and both Ant and Cleo are about to discover that the Cold War never ended in outer space, and that the KGB are still alive and well out among the scarlet stars.

All flying saucer technology comes from the Saucerers, but who are they? Where is the mysterious hidden colony of Gondolin? How did the United States of America come to have interstellar spacecraft in the 1950s? And who or what is Truman J. Slughound the Third? Find out in a series guaranteed to contain colour-changing aliens, Godless communists from Altair, rednecks from Barnard’s Star, space fighters, rocket pistols, death by ecstasy, very bad hair, and more explosions than you can shake a stick at.

16 Gifts From A Stepmom: Encouragement for the Blended Family Journey

About 16 Gifts From A Stepmom: Encouragement for the Blended Family Journey

Do you struggle with how to connect with your stepchildren? Do you sometimes fear that you will always feel like an outsider, a stranger? Blended families are not easy. They are always started after a great loss — the loss of the previous family, whether to divorce, breakup or bereavement.

When you come into the picture, you may not be aware of the grief that is still lingering from events in the past. As a stepmom, you want to show that you care, but the barriers seem too great. How can you gain trust? How can you get closer?

First, be willing to look at the losses endured by this family before you came into the picture. Be compassionate. Know that problematic behaviours often have their roots in unresolved grief.

Second, know that you will start off as a stranger, and that is normal. Building relationships take time. It is a process that won’t happen in a weekend or even a month. It is a gradual development.

Third, know that you do have a lot to offer as a stepmom, gifts that will slowly build connections and love. Gifts that, in the end, will build a legacy.

Compassion, acceptance, encouragement. Patience, listening, involvement. And don’t forget fun! All kids love to have fun, no matter how serious they are! There are sixteen gifts in total that author Sharilee Swaity reminds you that you have to give.

Soak in the love and encouragement from this book. This quick read will be one you revisit when you need to remind yourself that you are making a difference, even when you don’t see it.

The Band Director’s Lessons About Life: Volume 1 – 50 Parables on Life’s Performance Cycle by Donald Lee

About The Band Director’s Lessons About Life: Volume 1 – 50 Parables on Life’s Performance Cycle by Donald Lee

In “The Band Director’s Lessons About Life”, author Donald Lee draws on his decades as both a band director and religion teacher to create modern-day parables from the classroom. People of any religious persuasion—or none—will be delighted and inspired by how these band-room vignettes shine a spiritual light on everyday experiences. The parables are short enough to read in the bathroom yet deep enough to ponder for days.

It’s a cross between “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”, and “Conversations with God”. If you liked any of those books, you’ll love this one.

Every little event has a spiritual dimension—tuning the flute section, a terrible performance, a broken clarinet, and even the ugly band uniforms. You’ll recognize the characters, chuckle at their misadventures, and maybe even learn something about yourself. If you’ve been a kid, if you love music, this book’s for you!

“If you pick up this collection, consider that you found a treasure. I do. It both entertains me, and inspires me.”
Archbishop Gerard Pettipas, C.Ss.R.
Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan

“The stories made me laugh. The reflections made me think. These lessons are for everyone.”
Joanne Byfield,
Journalist, Radio Host, TV Producer

“Lessons About Life is a well-written, insightful, inspiring work of art presented in a thoughtful, thoroughly enjoyable way. It’s timely and highly applicable in today’s world. Donald’s students were blessed, and now readers will reap the same benefit.”
Michele Preisendorf, Editor with Eschler Editing

“Every chapter is a gem that helps one become a better person, a better student, and a better teacher. I will recommend this work to all my music education students. Bravo Donald!”
Dr. Tom Dust
Professor – Secondary Music Education
University of Alberta

“If you need a little boost in your life, this is the book for you.”
