I was born and raised in Wyoming and can’t imagine living anywhere else. I’m an author, a certified public accountant who works tax season each year, and a United States Army veteran who served as a military police officer. It was as a soldier and MP that I learned survival skills and the use of multiple weapons, skills needed by the characters in DAEIOS: 140 FEET DOWN.
I became an author because, for as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to write a novel. Everyone has a book in them, they say. I had no idea my first book would be a dystopian thriller! I’ve written a lot of stories, essays (I was a top finalist in the Writer’s Digest 83rd Annual Writing Competition for my essay, Fearsome Men), poetry, and one short play over the years. I have always been an avid reader and my love for the written word needs to be expressed in my own voice. When my husband, Rob, proposed to me, he told me he would support me in whatever I wanted to do. Whether that be hanging out my own shingle as an accountant (I had worked full-time in accounting for many years at that time), writing that book that was nagging at me, or anything else. I really enjoy writing, seeing my stories come to life sentence after sentence, page after page.
I wrote DAEIOS because I wanted to create an imperfect character and have her become something special at the end of the book. I’ve been fascinated by underground caverns ever since visiting Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico as a child, so that became the setting. I thought it would be interesting to take current world issues and imagine the worst-case scenarios. What would that look like? How would it affect the characters in the story?
My original idea for DAEIOS was to make it a dystopian story with humor. That’s how it started, with Shea and other characters being funny at times, because, don’t people handle adversity with humor, even if it’s dry humor? But the darker DAEIOS became, the less the humor fit. So DAEIOS became a thriller and has only a touch of lightness here and there to break up the darkness.
When I’m not writing or getting my fix of numbers, (which I also love) during tax season, I love to travel: by boat or ship, airplane, train, car, or motorcycle (I ride on the back). I’ve seen much of the world but there’s still so much more to see. I also enjoy whitewater rafting, walking and hiking, reading, movies and binge-worthy TV series, plays, live music, and most of all, spending time with my husband and family.

Reviewing text from both the Bible and the Quran made the fact clear that Christianity and Islam worship two different God’s. Both Christianity and Islam define themselves as a monotheistic faith. This means that they worship one God. This is made abundantly clear in chapter 8 where the definitions are given for each faith. For Christianity, the term Trinity defines God revealing himself in three distinct but equal persons. These are God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God and the person of the Holy Spirit. In Islam the term to define Allah is Tawhid. Tawhid defines the “Oneness of Allah”. Allah is the Supreme Being. He has no associates. No one or anything is associated with Allah. This difference between Christianity and Islam is made clear in Chapter 8 where the Pillars of Islam are defined. Chapter 9 continues with a side by side comparison of text from the Quran and the Bible. Jessica is a 30-year-old school teacher, former fitness professional and dancer. She was born and raised in Bendigo, Victoria before moving to Melbourne in 2008. EMILY DUBIN FIELD is a mom thanks to IVF and surrogacy. It was a long, hard, and emotional road for her to finally become a mom. She is very open about her fertility journey and feels that, when you go through something difficult in life, who better than you to do something about it for others? She has her MBA in nonprofit management and has dedicated her career to making a difference in the world. Emily and her husband Gregg started Field Fertility in 2016, which is a legal and consulting business working with intended parents, surrogates, egg donors, sperm donors, and embryo donors. Field Fertility is a member of the Society of Ethics of Egg Donation and Surrogacy, American Bar Association, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Resolve, Men Having Babies, and Family Equality and is a supporter of Feit 4 Kidz Fertility Fund by JFLA and Baby Quest Foundation. MELISSA FLECK currently spends her time as a mom to two very active kids, is a wife to a hardworking law enforcement officer, and is an active member of the surrogacy community. She has been working at the Center for Surrogate Parenting, Inc. since 2016, where she is a surrogate case manager. Having been a surrogate herself, she gets to pay it forward by interviewing and guiding potential surrogates on their surrogacy journey, working for the same agency that brought her and her intended parent and coauthor, Emily, together. Melissa also enjoys working out at her local boot camp-style gym, watching her kids play sports, attending Dodgers games, spending time with friends and extended family, and watching as many movies as she can.

Author Bio:
Itayi Garande (1971- ) is a lawyer, author, business analyst, and businessman. He was born in Highfields surburb in Harare, Zimbabwe where he was raised in both pre-independence and post-independence Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia). For 25 years, Itayi has worked in international organisations, public sector organisations and has run his own business in London and Essex, United Kingdom. Currently, he is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the United Kingdom's Bar Council.

Itayi holds seven degrees including a doctorate, four Master's degrees including a Master's in Law passed with distinction and an LLB in Law and Management. He runs several businesses including a commodities company focussing on diamonds and gold. He is passionate about travel, motivational writing and speaking and is an editor who has helped over 10 new authors to publish books mostly on business, domestic violence and the law.

He lives with his wife and two beautiful children in Essex, United Kingdom.
