This is the second in a series of near-term Science Fiction post-apocalyptic Novellas. It tells the stories of another group of survivors who live through the same species-ending series of global catastrophes described in Volume I.
North America is slammed by a series of massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, followed by super-hurricane force winds and months of driving rain. The coastal regions are swallowed by a 300-foot sea level rise.
The primary location for this story is the smoky mountains of the western Carolinas.
This series, driven by current events and multiple diverse predictions, has disrupted several planned writing projects. I can’t seem to let go of this topic. As I go through the steps to publish this volume, the plot of the next volume keeps me awake.
As of March 13, 2013, these stories are only fiction. I hope they remain so. AWESOME

I’m a writer, and I write about what interests me, stories that I would enjoy reading. As an insatiable reader since grade school, and frequently in trouble for reading in class, I soon discovered science fiction, and when I read Heinlein’s Stranger in a strange land, I Grokked, and the die was cast.
Many of my books are science fiction and don’t include steam punk, fantasy, time travel, magic, elves or faeries.
As a naval and military history buff, I also have written several books that feature warships, aircraft, airships, spacecraft, and military action.
As a recovering engineer, I discovered the net early. I spend a few hours each morning keeping a finger on current events, technologies, human relations, and the body politic. I became interested in Prepping during the Y2K period, and follow the survival industry, and alternate energy technologies. Using that background, I have written several Post-Apoliptic books.
Several of my books contain adult situations and content, because real adults, when thrown together by stressful events, will have adult relationships, I have showed some of my characters experiencing them.
With a wide range of life experiences that contribute to my knowledge base and interests. They include: digging ditches for a plumber, and loading bread trucks in High School. They educated me in electronics and I worked on radar systems in the Navy. Afterward, I continued working in electronics for the defense industry, just as the Navy was transitioning to digital computers. That experience led me into a 30+ year career in the welding automation industry as an engineer, exec, and CEO.
A mild heart attack shifted my priorities, and I spent the next several years running a charter boat in North Carolina. I would take families out and teach the kids how to fish, while telling them stories about the pirates and blockade runners who were in the area.

I published my first book, BB-39 in 2012 after finally retiring for the fourth time. I still produce two or three books a year. My eyes and knees are degraded. But any day I can get vertical is a good day.

I’ve been a technical writer, researcher, and analyst for over 22-years. Ken Ross was born in 1953 at Westow in the East Riding of Yorkshire. As a child, he lived at Barmby Moor, Pocklington, and York, before his parents moved to Leeds in 1964. Ken’s most recent work is the romantic/erotic series of novels that includes WASTED PAIN, PROTECTION: sex, revenge & romance, BODIES: Erotic Suspense, and MAMA Erotic Suspense, and the recently added BROKEN SISTERS. These five novels are interlinked with the characters all living in the same house in an American city; first occupied by Jerry’s Pa and Ginger in WASTED PAIN, then by Jerry and his gals in subsequent stories. The central characters are Jerry, Patsy, and Erica and their adventures often occur close to the grim town of Crickenville in Ohio.

Another work published on 6th June 2019: ‘AN OLD AFFAIR’ – of particular interest to middle-aged, and above, singles who have thought about finding a partner. A good read.

I made a promise to myself then that I was going to get out of that town and get back to Jamaica When I was four years old, my mum took me and my brother to Jamaica to join my dad who had been transferred from London to work in Kingston Town as a foreman scaffolder on a twelve month contract. There began my love affair with island life, sea, sand and surf. A few years later, when we came back to the UK we moved to Middlesbrough in north east England, my dad’s home town. We went from living like royalty, on a sun drenched island, surrounded by palm trees, clear blue seas and golden beaches, to living in impoverished conditions in a cold, colourless northern town, with steelworks and two chemical plants polluting the air with noxious gasses. I made a promise to myself then that I was going to get out of that town and get back to Jamaica or some other island or country where there were happy smiling faces, blue seas, parrots, beaches and sunshine as soon as I possibly could.
The day I left school for the last time, was the day the school broke up for the Easter holidays. The headmaster had decided that the few pupils who were not staying on to do their CSE or GCSE exams and who were leaving school for good on that day, should leave at lunch time. There were only six of us and we were escorted from the school grounds by one of the teachers. When we were approaching the school gates I heard a voice from behind yelling “You lot will never amount to anything, you’ll all end up as drunks, unemployed or in prison” I recognised the voice straight away, it was Mr Bagley, my science teacher, who had bullied, tormented and beaten me at every opportunity over the past four years. That just made me more determined to get away from England and start a new life in the tropics. His words have stayed with me to this day, and they have given me the strength to prove him wrong. I have had to cheat, lie and live by my wits to achieve my goals but since that day I have never looked back. I have worked as a chef on cruise ships, five star hotels and restaurants around the world, been to the Antarctic, lived in eight different countries, own four investment properties and a share portfolio, had my own successful advertising business, own a beautiful house on the Gold Coast in Australia, own a boat in Boracay in the Philippines, wrote and had a book published on how to retire in Thailand, and I now live on the beautiful island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand.

Author Bio:
Originally from the UK, Gerald migrated to Australia in 1974. Since then he has travelled the world working in hotels and restaurants, gold mines, cruise ships, Antarctic supply ships, custom patrol vessels, rig tenders, and oil tankers. In the capacity of his work as a chef he has also lived in Jamaica, Bermuda, Singapore, the Falkland Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and the USA. He has now retired to Thailand where he lives on the island of Koh Samui and travels extensively throughout SE Asia. To keep active and to pursue his love of travel Gerald has also written three travel books in his Retirees Travel Guide Series of books.

Book one in the retiree series “The Retire in Thailand Handbook (the first six months)”, is a step by step guide for expat retirees and baby boomers, who may be considering retiring to Thailand, where their pensions will stretch much further than it does in their home countries and where the climate is wonderful for most months of the year.

Book two in the retiree series of travel books is “The Retirees Guide to Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Laos”. This book takes the reader on a two month journey that Gerald embarked on as a retiree to four exciting South East Asian countries

Book three in the retiree series of travel books is “Same Same But Different” is a journal of a four week road trip that he took driving throughout Thailand, looking for the best cities and towns for expats to retire to within the country.

Book four in the retiree travel series: Gerald is currently travelling and doing research for The Retirees Guide to Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore and Bali.

All of Gerald’s books are available through Amazon.
