Killing Chase by Ben Muse

killing chase ebook coverAbout Killing Chase by Ben Muse

Second chances can kill you.

From the moment he woke that early March morning, Chase Hampton knew, once he was released from prison later that day, he was never going back. No matter what.

Born into a wealthy but flawed North Carolina shipbuilding family, Chase was somehow immune to the dysfunction. The sky was the limit for the 18-year old football prodigy, until one terrible event changed the course of his life and prison became his new home. Through the highs and lows of his incarceration, there was one person he couldn’t forget, no matter how hard he’d tried: childhood best friend Bailey Masters. For reasons unknown to him, she’d shunned him ever since her mysterious return to Foggy Harbor at the beginning of their sophomore year.

Now, seven years into a twelve-year manslaughter sentence, Chase is given an unusual second chance, one that comes with its own set of rules. Suddenly, he’s thrust into a position he’s not ready for: the tip of the spear in a quiet war against an American enemy. A war that could cost him his family . . . and his life.

Gabriel Farago is the international, bestselling and multi-award-winning Australian author of the Jack Rogan mysteries and thrillers series for the thinking reader.

As a lawyer with a passion for history and archaeology, Gabriel had to wait for many years before being able to pursue another passion–writing–in earnest. However, his love of books and storytelling started long before that.

Born in Budapest, Gabriel grew up in post-War Europe, and after fleeing Hungary with his parents during the Revolution in 56, he went to school in Austria before arriving in Australia as a teenager. This allowed him to become multi-lingual and feel ‘at home’ in different countries and diverse cultures. Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.
Gabriel holds degrees in literature and law, speaks several languages and takes research and authenticity very seriously. Inquisitive by nature, he studied Egyptology and learned to read the hieroglyphs. He travels extensively and visits all of the locations mentioned in his books.

‘I try to weave fact and fiction into a seamless storyline,’ he explains. ‘By blurring the boundaries between the two, the reader is never quite sure where one ends, and the other begins. This is of course quite deliberate as it creates the illusion of authenticity and reality in a work that is pure fiction. A successful work of fiction is a balancing act: reality must rub shoulders with imagination in a way that is both entertaining and plausible.’

Gabriel lives in the Blue Mountains in Australia just outside Sydney, surrounded by a World Heritage National Park.
‘The beauty and solitude of this unique environment,’ he points out, ‘gives me inspiration and the energy to weave my thoughts and ideas into stories which, I sincerely hope, will in turn entertain and inspire my readers.’

If you like historical thrillers, excitement, mystery and suspense, if you enjoy exotic settings, colourful characters and fast-paced action, if you like to learn about interesting, well-researched subjects that tease your intellect and imagination, then once your step inside, Gabriel will show you his world; the world of the storyteller.

Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.

A Journey to Woodstock & Beyond by Frankie Carr

About A Journey to Woodstock & Beyond by Frankie Carr

The year is August 1983. Three college girls, Kate Barrett, Jill Le Gallienne, and Brenda Nast, find themselves propelled back, in time, to Woodstock 1969. Acting on a promise they made to themselves, one of them sets out to save Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix from their future, their untimely deaths. Prior to this, Kate’s best friend plots against her, jealous of her friend’s pampered lifestyle.

Long version:

During breakfast, Kate Barret, receives a phone call from herself to herself and from all places—the Woodstock festival—thirteen years in the past. This speaking to her duplicate self so blindsides her rose-tinted world, that she leads her friends to perform an off-the-cuff innocent ceremony. Kate feels that this act of magic must transpire before the stroke of midnight, the anniversary of Woodstock. Their goal is to travel back in time to warn Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, hopefully, to save them from their untimely deaths. Kate and friends are not prepared for the wild journeys they will take. Meanwhile, Jill Le Gallienne, Kate’s best friend, jealous of her friend’s pampered lifestyle, plots against her, to ruin her reputation. This act of treachery has far-reaching consequences neither of them could have imagined. Jill finds herself on a thrill ride as she sets out to do the same to others—she and an acquaintance (posing as a Hollywood talent agent)—finagle into unsavory situations.

A unique situation confronts Kate’s brother James. The night before Kate’s strange phone call, he’s visited in a dream (or what he believes is a dream) by none other than three beautiful young women, a long-dead Broadway legend, a provocative silent movie star, and an Elizabethan speaking nattily dressed-as-a-man literary figure. What transpires, in that event, portends the perilous journey he must take to save a Russian princess from an untimely death, by murder?

The idea of “A Journey to Woodstock” came from a love of Rock ‘n Roll music, especially from the ’60s & ’70s and my enthrallment of the greatest rock concerts of all times—Woodstock 1969! To recreate that event I, of course, watched the Oscar-winning 1970 documentary, read blogs of those who were there, and websites detailing the timelines of performances, this and more to get the feel of what it was like to be there: in short, to recreate for the reader of what it was like (as a time traveler) to be there. There is much, much more to the story, some wild journeys for sure.

A novel’s journey from conception to completion has been, as most authors will attest, an arduous, but grand experience.—If I can live through one more edit and not take a long walk off a short pier, I may, just may, finish this in my lifetime.

I’ve been writing for years. One source of invaluable information has been “Writer’s Digest,” a magnificent compendium of knowledge. I’ve one other completed novel that I’m currently editing, another novel online, as well as a novelette, and two novellas, the latter of which I’ve yet to upload. The three novels began roughly about the same time, in 2007.

What do I do in my spare time? Besides my day job as a driver, I love swing dancing, bicycling, hiking, & jogging. Add to that my need to get back to practicing my violin and ukulele. Last summer, however, I produced and wrote a time-travel film short (33 minutes in duration), one I’m currently submitting to film festivals; it and my other novel have been submitted to Taleflick, (https://taleflick.com/) a site where major film producers can peruse for possible movie ideas. I’ve my fingers crossed. Meanwhile, I sincerely hope you enjoy the journey, “A Journey to Woodstock & Beyond.” Peace & Love! lindyhop1927@gmail.com

Yves Corbiere only became captivated by superheroes as an adult. As a child she preferred horses. “Mimi and Ky: The Beginning” was her debut novel. She now has a second novel out in the series, “Mimi and Ky: Escape the Past”.

Yves suffers from chronic Lyme disease which she was diagnosed with 8 years ago when she woke up screaming because she couldn’t feel or move her right leg. She has now mostly recovered her health due to the hard work and dedication of many healthcare practitioners in a variety of disciplines including acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, yoga, and allopathic medicine (an amazing MD).

Yves grew up in Guilford, Connecticut, a coastal New England town with a passion for soccer, sailing and high school orchestral music. She went to Davidson College.

For all you francophiles and French speakers who are wondering, Yves got the spelling of her name from Jacques Cousteau. She was an “Eve” until at age 4 she saw a documentary featuring Jacques “Yves” Cousteau and insisted on changing the spelling. She doesn’t remember the incident.

My formative life experiences impacted me in that I did not like who I was. This had come about due to the environment I grew up in, what was accepted and not accepted and how I learnt to behave and react. However, I knew there was more to me, something that was precious inside me that I could not connect to-so how could anyone else? So, I spent most of my life studying myself and discovering the answers, tools, and processes within myself, so I could find and become me, the true me. I grew my ability to be self-reliant in making an internal difference to me.

I spent years immersed in my own self-development and in developing my own way of self-facilitating and facilitating others to find our jewels within. I designed the I Make a Difference (IMAD) Personal Development Programme in 2000 with the I Make a Difference Onion Model lying at the foundation of the programme and of this book.

For over fifteen years I have facilitated and walked beside thousands of individuals-people in the business community, people in the Department of Corrections, disengaged youth, individuals with disabilities and workplace injuries, migrants and refugees, traditional owners-the Aboriginal people of Australia, long-term unemployed people, and members of the general public who, as a result of the IMAD experience-have made a difference to themselves, their families, their workplaces, their communities, and their lives.

The Year of the Fox

About The Year of the Fox

I started My New Life with a wild leap of faith and a screw driver in my back pocket. Turns out I needed a power tool arsenal…
Nancy Myers is having a hard time. She’s broken-hearted, homeless and unemployed. And she’s just turned forty. But Nancy has a secret weapon. Desperation.
Relying solely on her finely-honed ability to make stuff up as she goes along and the battery life of her cordless drill, she’s determined to make a fresh start (one that on no account features men of the falling-in-love-with variety).
After purchasing a rural property on a whim at the foot of the Southern Alps in New Zealand, Nancy attempts to settle into country life. She finds the vista of the mountains healing. She also finds a tall, dark and gumbooted stranger (who proves to be therapeutic in other ways).
But when she discovers her precious view is about to be taken away, Nancy faces a hard choice. Should she play saboteur to protect her own happiness, even if it means losing the man who just might possibly be the key to it?
Maybe her fresh start is actually a false start. Or maybe she’s learning a thing or two about how to be a kick-arse, self-reliant woman.

About Unworthy of You

Falling in love with the enemy wasn’t my goal.

Life has been nothing shy of entertaining since I was a boy.

Adopted by the wealthiest family in Qatar.

I’m a businessman with no desire for the crown my father wore.

But I wasn’t asked my opinion on the matter. My brother’s too young to rule the country.

With tons of concerns, I concede and take the throne, only to have the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen show up.

Her timing is almost too perfect.

It’s her persistence or fierceness that holds me completely captivated.

Either way, I want every part of her for my own.

Too bad she’s come to Qatar for one reason.

To destroy me.

ML Katz started reading Dick and Jane on a train and never looked back. She is a lover of good examples of almost all genres of fiction, but is particularly attached to speculative works. She believes that an emotional connection with readers transcends genre. That may be why Ms. Katz’s own favorites range from Pride & Prejudice to Lord of The Rings to Lonesome Dove to Scarpetta novels. This may also be one reason why her books are hard to classify, but seem to be enjoyed by readers of many different types of books.
