Author Bio:
I am a native Californian who married my high school sweetheart. We were married 54 years until she passed away last December; why she put up with me is still a mystery. I loved her dearly and miss her every day.

I have always been an avid watcher of film noir, mysteries, and other detective crime fiction as well as science fiction and fantasy. I read quite a bit, which would probably surprise a number of my elementary school teachers. I would have been a better reader earlier if Dick and Jane were detectives, or at least, a wizard and witch.

Like a lot of writers I write because I need to. Also as a kid, I was such a liar. I didn’t lie about important stuff. I just made up stories. I was told the story of the boy who cried wolf constantly. At least five different versions. It doesn’t happen well for the kid in any of them.

I still make up stories, but because I put them in books; I am a novelist or author.

The Jonas Watcher series is rooted in the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. My style is a little lighter and laced with my own quirky sense of Humour.

I identify my genre as Adventures, some Detective, and some Spy.

Ashley skillfully gets the message (that is in her novel) across to her readers that life is not simple. Readers may (at first) think that because she is only fifteen she doesn’t have the means to delve into deep topics like she does, but they will take that back once they flip the page to her first poem.

Ashley Petit is the author of ‘Girl With No Filter’. This is her first book (so far). She is fifteen years old and is just starting off high school.

The ironic thing about her is that she didn’t learn how to read until she was in the third grade and even then, she couldn’t quite understand what she was reading until her eighth grade in school. She thought she didn’t like reading, but in actuality she just couldn’t comprehend what she was reading. Once she did understand the words (Which wasn’t until the last year of middle school), she had fallen in love with books.

When she could not read, she would make up the words based on the pictures she would see in books. You’d think that that is when she found out she was destined to be a writer, but no. The truth is–she did make up the words–but the words she would make up wouldn’t even follow the premises of the pictures being shown.

She always had a creative mind, though. Back in elementary school when you could have amazing recess and smell the fresh air, she would do some improv with her friends. Improv is acting, but without any lines. You make up your own lines as you go along. It’s basically freestyling. Ashley and her friends would get really into it. They would sculpt a plot, sometimes pretending to be dogs escaping from the shelter and sometimes having someone bad be in their minds. She would usually come up with the plot, another person was really good with inside information based on the storyline. If we were doing something with puppies, this person would have some facts on how puppies behave and their habitat. Then, they would just act. No rules. No restrictions. That’s what Ashley always loved: being able to be as creative as she wanted without any restrictions or judging.

Ashley was always insecure within herself. She is still finding out who she is to this day and along the way of finding herself, she is learning to accept the person she is even if others don’t. She is realizing that the more she tries to be someone else, the more she will be insecure and miserable within herself.

Ashley is a very shy and quiet person and because of this, she can come off as snobbish, but once you get to know her for who she really is people will see her smart outlook on life to be insightful (especially at such a young age), her witty humor and sharp attitude to be satisfyingly challenging, and her immensely entertaining aura to shine bright! She is never boring and always keeps you on your toes. You never know what she is going to do next, but through it all, she always has her family and friends backs when they need her most.

When Ashley is not writing, studying, or at school, then she is usually in her room (with the door securely locked) singing away at the top of her lungs with the artist she is listening to, pretending she has tons of fans. She also draws creepy things, usually containing snakes, venom, claws, or blood (because why not)? She also frequently obsesses over creamy, cheesecake and pepperoni pizza. Hey, a girl has got to dream right? Why not dream about pizza and cheesecake?
