Kahner C. Calloway has spent the entirety of his life in
Alabama, where he grew up first in its capitol city, then

in the city’s surrounding area. Much of his primary edu-
cation was spent in the way must people experience it: trying to

find himself in the ocean of uncertainty that is adolescence. As a
kid, Kahner could be found often with his nose in a book or with
his hands holding a video game controller. During the summer
he would spend the days with his loving grandparents, and the
rest of the year it was not unheard of for Kahner and his brother

Kayne to be packed tightly in a car to heard off on another excur-
sion to somewhere in the United States with their adventurous

mother.
After graduating from high school, Kahner attended Auburn
University at Montgomery, where he graduated with a history
degree, hoping to become a teacher. Life has a way of causing the
cards to fall where they may, and not where you wish. As such,
Kahner was unable to become a teacher just yet, but has devoted
his time to completing his book while working in-between jobs.
Kahner wrote his first book during the free time he had while
attending college. He was inspired by his mother after she had
read a short story Kahner had written explaining how the magic
of Christmas worked. “There is something more to this. So, don’t
show anyone else about it yet,” she said, encouraging him to
develop his short story further. After that, it was normal to find
Kahner at his computer at two in morning, tapping away at the
keys. Once the book was complete, Kahner had to find someone
who could help him edit it. A lack of funds hindered that process
for a year.
Thankfully, marriage is an acceptable exchange for editing a
book. Kahner met his wife Miranda on the day of their shared
graduation—Kahner with his undergraduate, and Miranda with
her Masters in English. While they were dating, Miranda decided

to take on the daunting task of arranging Kahner’s abstract con-
glomeration into something more enjoyable for all. This, and the

fact that Kahner was madly in love with her, helped sealed the
deal. They live happily together in Alabama with their three pets.
When Kahner isn’t obsessing over his notebooks, he enjoys
woodworking in his garage, playing Dungeons and Dragons
with his friends as their Dungeon Master, or traveling as far and
wide as he can.
