The Protector by E.A.Shanniak

About The Protector by E.A.Shanniak

Whether Eavan was ready or not – her now husband Rais summoned his magic to his fingertips. The flaming swirls of magic licked at his hands as it grew, swarming and building around them – in the blink of an eye she was in a new land.
The new aromas hit her senses as she was blindfolded. Rais led her to a dragon who would test her to see if she was worthy of the honor of being his wife. A test that would determine whether she was to live or be beheaded.
Eavan stepped uncertainly onto the platform, facing a large orange dragon. She closed her eyes and swallowed.
Would she find love or death

Author Bio:
In the land of JRR Tolkien, Ericka would be a dwarf; hairy, small and lover of feasts. Barely reaching over five feet tall, the stay at home mother of two writes at her small, unimpressive desk
daily to deliver a tale delved from her past.

Her small, sausage fingers scribble unintelligible words that are thankfully fixed by her word processor. She ravenously eats meals her kids overlook. She lovingly washes the garments worn by her hard-working, supportive husband.

Ericka works diligently on her novels to give compelling pieces of literature that would have otherwise filled a hobbit’s hole instead of bookshelves at the local stores. Being only 28 years of age,
this dwarf still has a lot of adventure to fulfill before she resides with her ancestors underneath The Lonely Mountain.

Ericka hopes you enjoy her books. She hopes adventure finds you, grabs hold, and drags you out of your front yard, you little Bilbo!

Ariadne by Daniel Agnew

About Ariadne by Daniel Agnew

A young priestess flees from Crete to Egypt and finally Canaan as the Bronze Age world collapses around her.

Until the skies grew dark and red and the ground shook and cracked, Ariadne’s biggest problems were how to stay one step ahead of her parents and out-think any boys who might come her way. Now she’s part of a desperate plan to bring the world back to balance and save Crete from destruction.

Shame for the world Ariadne had other plans.

Hardened by her trials and forced to leave behind those she cares for, Ariadne struggles on to survive in new lands with new friends. But these lands are just as unforgiving as the one she left, and just as haunted by ghosts from her past…

Ariadne is a novel about a young woman’s journey to find out who she is in a chaotic world full of betrayal and heartache. It is a novel about three turbulent lands at the height of the Bronze Age and the death and suffering they endured. It is a novel inspired by history rather than myth, in a period few know what really happened. It is a novel about the past, yet a past so resonant with our present and future. It is a novel for those who love to ponder the tragic nature of war, and for those who long to see the world made right. It is a novel set to challenge historians and to entertain those who just love a good story. It is a novel about the lives of many people and yet ultimately one, Ariadne.

Somebody wants him dead, and if he doesn’t figure out who and why, his days are numbered.

Author Bio:
Kevin R. Hill has written for newspapers and magazines.

He grew up in a law-enforcement family that discussed police stories over dinner. Those stories inspire his detective fiction.

After many years abroad, the author returned home, drawn to the contrasts that are Long Beach, California. At one end of the city, women of the night prowl Pacific Coast Highway, and Mexican vendors push tamale carts. A few miles away, the rich enjoy the pristine houses of Naples island and Virginia Country Club.

In that city, his detectives work among the street people, sidewalk cafes, hustlers and cops.

Kevin also writes nonfiction, and laughs when asked about his automotive addiction. He explains it by saying that he grew up next to a family of Portuguese/Italian mechanics, and developed a love for the sound of a small block Chevy with a lopey cam. After writing all day, he says, tinkering on a classic engine is a terrific way to unwind. In the garage, far from mundane cares, the outside world does not exist.

The ocean is a great part of the So. Cal. lifestyle, and it has always spoken to Kevin. He loves to spearfish, enjoys exotic travel, micro brews, and fine tequila.

ADRIANA

About ADRIANA

In a universe underpinned by information, what happens when this ‘information layer’ starts to become conscious within the mind of a young girl?
This 85,000-word novel does not sit easily in any one genre, but if pushed I would describe it as a philosophical mystery that might well find itself on a shelf with the science fiction books.
Although my writing style is very different to hers, my book was, to a degree, inspired by the Scarlett Thomas novel ‘The End Of Mr Y’ and I would by very pleased to find my book appealing to a similar audience. Books like ‘Solaris’ by Stanislaw Lem, ‘The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’ by Douglas Adams and the paintings of Hayley Buchanan were also an influence.

The premise of this book, which is gradually revealed, is that:
The universe, at its most fundamental level, is governed by information. Consciousness is the product of the same and that when they are able to ‘lucid dream’ some people can enter a sort of collective unconscious that exists within this realm, the information layer.
Timeless, like dreams, the possibility of knowledge from the future bleeding into its past becomes possible. However, no paradox occurs when this happens because history and the very contents of our minds get rewritten to accommodate any change. When this happens a discontinuity is said to have occurred, but if a sufficiently large change takes place, then the line of least resistance is no longer ‘a discontinuity’ and then all those conceived, beyond the point of the change, run the risk of having never existed. This is what Gabriel Smith fears Adriana may bring about and, eventually, explains the nature of Adriana’s dreams.
The book begins with slightly autistic and dyslexic Adriana, aged seventeen, having just been moved to protected housing. Adriana, institutionalised after the death of her twin, is treated by her psychiatrist Raj Banerjee.
Mr Banerjee, who is fascinated by her remarkable dreams, treats her and as her condition improves she decides to walk outside, by herself, for the first time, but soon gets lost. She ends up in a park in the night and gets attacked but, to her surprise, is able to fend off her attacker.
She makes four new friends, Archie, Matt, Beá, and Sophie, who take her back to her flat and there discover old papers and books left by her late mother. She embarks on a journey with her new friends in search of notes written by her father before the Second World War. Gabriel Smith, who believes Adriana is a threat to himself and his family, pursues them
Banerjee falls ill and later dies, murdered in hospital, but before he dies he tells his friend, Dr. Frank Carver, of a strange dream he thinks he shared with Adriana. Her absence and the dream suggest to him that she may be involved, so he heads off in pursuit as well. After much to-ing and fro-ing and a number of extraordinary journeys through a black hole, the mind of a prehistoric woman and to an alien world, Adriana is killed. This leads to the break down of the laws of physics and the end of the world, but not the information layer.
A young girl stimulated by music lies in a coma in a medical facility. Was this entire story just her dream or is she God.

Author Bio:
In my life I have been a university lecturer, an inventor, a plasterer’s assistant, a recording engineer, a record producer and a song and music writer for both film and commercial release. I have also owned and run a number of recording studios (all called Mark Angelo Recording Studios ) and now I am an author. Science was always my first love. As a child, on birthdays and Christmas, it was not train sets and toy cars for me. All I wanted was books. Books about palaeontology, astronomy, biology or physics. That was until I encountered my first science fiction book. I was hooked. Isaac Asimov, Arthur Clark, Philip K Dick, Harlan Ellison and many others became, for me, new heroes to stand alongside Einstein, Newton, Heisenberg and Maxwell. You could say that these are the people that, to a large extent must bear the responsibility for creating the person that I am today.
So after many years of doing just about everything else I have, perhaps now in my second childhood, finally decided to go back to the things I always loved the most and this time emulating the greats, dare to write a book of my own.
