Knowing His Secret by K.C. Falls

About Knowing His Secret by K.C. Falls

From USA Today Bestselling Author, K.C. Falls

Tristan King – a man so far out of my league that I should have thought twice.

He felt like the kind of man who didn’t just break the rules, but made new ones. He led and it was follow or get
out of the way.

Why did a billionaire with a voice like liquid silk and a face like a bad angel take a second look at a girl in no-name jeans, with a fifteen-dollar haircut and a beat up car she calls her “Eep” because the ‘J’ fell off long ago?

I let him claim my desire before I had the chance to consider what that might have meant for me. For my life.

By the time I knew his secrets it was already too late.

He wove us together, giving me the life I’d always hoped for, making himself a hero in the bargain. It didn’t
hurt that he pulled the people I love the most out of harm’s way. A girl can get used to a knight in shining
armor even when the armor has some very large dents in it.

No matter what the future held, Tristan had changed me. I could only hope we’d survive.

Author Bio:
Years before I wrote the Year of the Billionaire trilogy, I was very involved in amature theater. One summer we produced “That Championship Season”. It was a racy, adult drama and a huge departure from our usual musicals and family fare. I was the stage manager and the troupe of players were a bunch of lawyers who were all hams. I had a blast and met my husband on that Little Theater stage. On one rehearsal night I substituted the iced tea we used for whiskey with the real deal. No one seemed to mind. In fact, their acting may have improved a bit.

Back in the dinosaur era, when computers weren’t even a glint in Bill Gate’s eye, I used to sneak into the deepest corners of our basement and read Harlequin Romances. My mother thought they were ‘trashy’. She would have grounded me for life if she knew I had “Pirates of the Barbary Coast”. I can’t even find the book now–there’s a bunch of references, but none show the true ‘bodice ripper’ that inspired me.

The publication process was too daunting for me to face back in the Jurassic Era. And then along came ebooks and independent publishing and I was off to the races. My catalog of books keeps growing.

I earned my USA Today bestselling author title last year.

Independent Enough: A Book About Relationships by Larry Shushanksy

About Independent Enough: A Book About Relationships by Larry Shushanksy

This book is on sale for .99 cents from November 12 to November 15.

There is nothing worse than being in a relationship where you feel estranged, distant, unloved, uncared for, or experiencing never ending tension and conflict. It eats away at your self-esteem, your physical and psychological well-being, as well as your overall satisfaction with life.

Unfortunately, we have been taught many myths about obtaining happiness in relationships including:

• Find the “right” person, job, place to live, spiritual practice, business endeavor, lifestyle, or way of thinking, and you’ll be happy.

• Discovering your passion and purpose are the keys to happiness—once known your relationships will improve.

• Any good relationship requires compromise, and this will lead to your well-being.

• Loving yourself is the key to having a loving relationship.

• Good communication is the key to good relationships.

• Trust and respect are the core components to all good relationships.

While there are some kernels of truth in these myths, the reality is that in order to become happier in relationships you need to first develop characteristics within yourself that create the kinds of relationships you desire. This is the big secret to having satisfying relationships and “Independent Enough” will show you exactly how to accomplish this.

The most meaningful and lasting changes do not come from pleasing others. They don’t come about by what others do for us. They come from looking inside yourself within the context of your relationships and determining what you really need.

With over thirty-five years as a counselor working with couples and sought-after public speaker, Larry Shushansky shares the secrets for creating the kind of relationships you desire and deserve— regardless of what someone else is doing. Larry offers you a template for ending the craziness and pain that sometimes comes with relationships and will show you how to develop the internal resources needed for engaging in healthier, happier relationships.

THE MARSH PEOPLE

About THE MARSH PEOPLE

SYNOPSIS The Marsh People by M Valentine Williams, is a dark dystopian novel. Dogs have rounded up the villagers and herded them into the teeming, inhuman City to work, under the control of the MASTERS, who are interested in a survival gene and who monitor their progress. Regular culls and poor food keep them subservient.

SCUMMO, a young working man, finds his neighbour MINNA dead and knows her little daughter KELPIN will not survive. She appeals to him for help. He decides to try to escape with her, not knowing how they’ll survive. Kelpin has the survival gene.
Watched by the Masters, they find DARFI, another runaway, who lives on a barge and gives them shelter, teaching them to fish, and they meet up with a group of other survivors. There are flesh eating eels and the Masters’ dogs to contend with.
BETHYL, strong female leader of the survivors’ group, has never been captured, and has carried out raids on the City. A respected leader, she teaches the others survival skills. Kelpin learns quickly. Some of the group feel they made the wrong choice and steal the boat to return to the City.
JANKIN, an older man with natural authority, is second in command. FANNA is a softer presence, and mother figure to Kelpin, while MAGRAB is a brave unassuming man with a speech impediment. All lost their families to the Masters and form the nucleus of the group. Life is hard for them all, as they relearn age-old skills. They are often hungry.
BEGGIS, a rebellious young redhead, leaves the City with her friend CRASSNA, who is killed by an eel creature as they join the others. Beggis feels the city dwellers should be rescued, as the Masters have now abandoned the place. Hearing this, Scummo and Bethyl return to help survivors. Cannibalism is suspected. Later Beggis returns alone and brings teenaged POLLA back. Everyone else has left.
The Masters make them choose either to return to the City or stay in their village, Erasil, and they choose the latter. The City is destroyed. They learn about other settlements and visit one, Brasto, run on different lines, with WESNEY as leader. They bring back GRANTIS as a mate for Scummo, to Kelpin’s disgust, and offer to trade their skills. Magrab goes to Brasco to teach them animal husbandry in exchange for more goats, but he is betrayed. He sends word to Erasil.
Three of Wesney’s men plot to take over Erasil but the villagers set a trap. In the skirmish two men from Brasto are taken prisoner and later killed. Magrab is found to have escaped, but war between the villages seems inevitable sooner or later. Bethyl steps down as leader. Scummo and Grantis have a child, but Grantis dies in childbirth. Kelpin looks after the baby and comforts Scummo. Kelpin herself finds a partner.
The story ends with the villagers understanding finally that they have to cooperate or die. They begin to think about how to approach the other village in peace. The ending sees them as a tribe thriving despite great odds, though the two skeletons of the murdered men from Brasto serve as a constant reminder of the violence just under the surface.

Author Bio:
Mary V Williams was born in a Hampshire village and spent most of her early childhood playing outside with mud, sticks and a dog, before being captured and made to go to school where she discovered books, poetry and art, which was a small consolation.
With an artistic, loving, but deaf mother, and a father who was an eccentric engineer and inventor, life was never dull. After school she devoured poetry and novels and began writing her own.

A nice safe job in a bank was proposed when she left school. Hating it, she found herself work with a charity caring for Polish and Tibetan refugees instead. Later, she studied at Manresa College in Roehampton, accompanied, she feels, by the ghost of Gerard Manley Hopkins who had been a Jesuit novitiate there, and met her husband, Peter. Together they made the most of Sixties London and travelled around Europe and North Africa before getting married and settling in Stoke Newington, a melting pot of radical political activity in those days. Mary continued to write poetry and teach but missed green spaces and the outdoor life.

After the birth of their two sons they decided reluctantly to seek quieter surroundings outside London and when Peter was offered a job in Lancashire the family moved Up North. Once the culture shock had worn off, the friendliness, scenery and the prospect of a larger house, made this a good move, despite the precipitation. She loved the humour and down to earth attitude of the people. She kept on writing and teaching.

As a family, they swapped houses with a Danish family, travelled by coach to Moscow and Estonia, camped on the Belgium coast, shared a house in Holland and had annual camping holidays with other families. The addition of another son soon after moving north and then a foster son three years later entailed a lot of cooking and mucking out of rooms. Odd socks and raids on the fridge were repeating motifs. Mary felt she needed a different career, and psychotherapy training and an MA in English led to a commission to write self-help books. Later she worked in child mental health, and for the NSPCC, then for seven happy years as a staff counsellor in a University.
Left with a huge, empty house once the children had left home, they sold up and moved south to Shropshire, where Peter had embarked on a career as an art therapist. Mary now had time and space to write. A series of books followed: The Poison Garden of Dorelia Jones, A Far Cry, Losing It, and recently The Marsh People (recently republished by Victorina Press). She won the Hippocrates Prize for poetry and the Ware Prize. Her poetry has been published in many journals and anthologies, and her published collected short stories, Unconfirmed Reports From Out There, is available as an e-book. She also founded the Drayton Writers’ Group.
She and her husband presently live in an old cottage and try to keep the garden at bay, though there’s a well under the living room floor and anything could be lurking in that.

American Renewal: A New Season of Optimism, Cooperation, and Community by Edward O’Malley

About American Renewal: A New Season of Optimism, Cooperation, and Community by Edward O’Malley

In American Renewal, O’Malley adeptly brings his original voice, fluid style and vivid illustrations to an interpretation of the social and political changes since 1945 and the cyclical forces that drove them.
Cycles are part of nature, human life, and the social fabric of our country. Just as the four seasons progress sequentially through the year, so is there a rhythmic cadence to periods of social change in America. Each generation has a unique role in shaping these periods and triggering the shift to the next. This generational cycle has four periods, lasting a total of about seventy to eighty years. Trust in government has steadily eroded while other measures of social order have also fluctuated. Important events like the McCarthy hearings, Vietnam, the Reagan era, the Iraq war, and the Trump presidency will be examined through the prism of the ‘season’ they occurred in.
America has been immersed in a ‘Crisis’ period since September 11, 2001. Our social, political and foreign policy perspectives have witnessed seismic shifts. Since then, multiple traumas have united us while political polarization has divided us. “Heroes’ have taken on wide-spread importance. But this ‘Crisis’ period will end soon and we will enter a new American ‘High’ period, reminiscent of the period from just after WWII, but imbued with all the progress and changes since then. Gen X, Millennials, and an emerging Gen Z will drive this new era forward, with their unique persona and role to play. This new ‘High’ period will be a time of greater optimism, cooperation, and community.

Ty The Hunter was born in Banbury, England. Being part of a military family meant moving around quite a lot, but eventually, she settled in Houston, Texas, where she attended university. She still lives in Houston today, with her husband, two sons, two German Shepherds, and a Cockatiel.

Having been a stay at home mom for 11 years, Ty has tried her hand at a few part time jobs but has always found herself happiest when she was writing. She has now completed 12 books in her The World Keepers series, as well as a rhyming new reader book for Minecraft lovers. And she has no plans to stop any time soon.

In her spare time, away from writing, Ty is an avid quilter and spends hours designing and creating entire king size quilts. She also enjoys reading, going to the movies, traveling and is a huge fan of the Great British Bake Off.

Probably growing up on various military bases was the reason that Ty became so fond of travel. In 15 years, she moved 30 times and did a mammoth road trip from Massachusetts to California. With her entire family crammed into a mini-van, it did nothing to dampen that enthusiasm. Nowadays, however, the travel is a bit more sedate and cruising with Royal Caribbean is more to her taste.

In the future Ty intends to continue writing and keep aiming higher, developing her craft and helping millions of people have a reason to curl up on the couch with a good book.
