The 4 Facets of Grief: Heal Your Heart, Rebuild Your World, and Find New Pathways to Joy by Ruth E. Field, LCSW

About The 4 Facets of Grief: Heal Your Heart, Rebuild Your World, and Find New Pathways to Joy by Ruth E. Field, LCSW

Are you wondering how to go on after the death of someone you love?
Do you have mixed feelings about certain holidays like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day?
Are you longing for healing, peace, and a new sense of order in your world?

This practical guide provides training in grief resilience, which is actually a skill set that can be learned, practiced, and incorporated into your life.
Written by a licensed clinical social worker who is also a bereaved mother, the book presents a unique system of coping with death that combines insights from both her professional background and personal experience. This approach builds grief resilience and transforms the reader from heartache to healing, wellness, and growth.
Losing someone you love can be a devastating experience. It is often excruciatingly painful and hard to wrap your mind around. Trying to take in the reality of death and then figuring out how to move forward can leave you overwhelmed, shattered, heartbroken, and frightened. And because it feels impossible to accept the unacceptable, we learn by osmosis to put misery on the back burner and pretend we’re mostly okay.
But we’re not okay; this is not business as usual. We’re left with that burning question:
“How do I go on?”
The 4 Facets of Grief is a fresh approach to navigating loss and death, incorporating the most current thinking on resilience and growth.
You will learn:
• Techniques for accepting the unacceptable
• Ways of rebuilding your world and reclaiming hope
• How to create meaning in difficult times
• Self-care routines to increase your energy, focus, and ability to relax
Each section includes descriptive stories that illustrate the concept and skill-building suggestions for the reader to practice.
By following the guidance in this book, you will:
• feel more resilient
• utilize better coping strategies
• create greater serenity than you ever thought possible
• notice improved relationships
• reintegrate peace and joy
• increase your self-confidence, realizing that you now have the tools to face adversity and create your own new reality

Author Bio:
Ruth E. Field has always wanted to help people. Inspired by her well-respected and beloved physician father, she grew up valuing service to others.

Through the years Ruth experienced the untimely deaths of many close family members and dear friends. She accompanied them through illnesses that ravaged body and mind, and she shared the trauma of sudden devastating accidents. All the while she pondered why such painful loss seemed to swirl around her.

In 1999 Ruth joined with other parents to co-found the Child & Adolescent Bipolar Foundation (now part of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance). It was the first internet-based not-for-profit organization, and reflected her passion to help families fight the stigma and isolation of mental health diagnoses. As the founding CABF board president, she spoke at area conferences and workshops on the family impact of early-onset mood disorders. One of her most memorable presentations was Witness to Grief: Experiencing Loss in Parenting Children and Adolescents with Bipolar Disorder.

Ruth’s calling to teach resilience crystallized after the accidental death of her young adult son. Having transformed her own sorrow into a personal mission to foster post traumatic growth, she is dedicated to helping others navigate all types of adversity. Honoring her son’s legacy of hope, she blends her personal and professional wisdom to guide others from heartbreak to healing.

Ruth holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. She also is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois. At her private psychotherapy practice in Northfield, IL, she is honored to work with adolescents, adults, and families.

In addition to writing, Ruth enjoys nature hikes, movies, and laughing with her husband Alan. She also loves sharing meals with friends and family. Her greatest joy is spending time with her grandchildren and delighting in their growth.

The Abyss of Lumberwitch

About The Abyss of Lumberwitch

In Cutrupi’s gripping fantasy debut, Melody, an orphan girl affected by a speech disorder, suddenly acquires fluency by reading an ancient language found in the remote and mysterious town of Lumberwitch.

1904. The Klondike Gold Rush is yesterday’s news, but not for Jonathan Brick, a journalist for Seattle’s Daily News. Assigned to a month-long trip to cover the slowdown of gold mining in the Yukon, Jonathan brings along his adoptive sister, Melody. Since she showed up on his doorstep as a child, she’s been Jonathan’s constant companion and the closest thing he’s had to family for the past fifteen years. Even with no memory of her previous life and a severe speech disorder, Melody has been crucial to his work.
Pursuing a series of interviews throughout the Yukon, the pair ends up in the isolated town of Lumberwitch. With the exception of two dedicated dreamers, the town has given up on finding gold in its abandoned mine. But while investigating the mine, Jonathan and Melody find something more valuable than gold–an ancient code carved into the mine’s walls in an obscure language. Not only can Melody decipher the code, but she also knows the language instinctively, speaking it without the effects of her otherwise-crippling speech disorder.
Before they know it, Jonathan and Melody are caught in a dangerous struggle. A deadly cult has seized the reins in Lumberwitch, led by a woman with an unholy hunger. While at the bottom of the subterranean lake below the mine lies what could be the secret of a legendary civilization. Between the two, Jonathan hopes to find the key to unlock Melody’s enigmatic past and unravel the mysteries of Lumberwitch–but only if they survive.

Author Bio:
Dom Cutrupi loves to write novels in the first person and his personal bio in the third person. A writer by day, a video producer by night, he has been passionate about media and storytelling since he was young. He wrote his first screenplay at age twelve and published his first novel in Italian at twenty-two. After receiving a Master’s Degree in Film and Television Production, he began his career inside the Vatican TV Channel TV2000 as a stage manager. Trips to the poorest areas of Peru and Mozambique inspired several essays about traveling in the South of the world and a novel, North of Maputo, about the pursuit of happiness. In 2010 he moved to Vancouver to pursue a career as a video producer and director. Struggles with the English language and cultural differences sparked a story which became the novel, The Abyss of Lumberwitch, about a girl who speaks a broken English but can translate ancient codes. The first draft of the book is in Italian. As his knowledge of and love for English deepened over the years, Dom decided to embark on the five-year process of translating the novel into his second language. He then published two more novels in the series, directly in English, The Tombs of Shang’en Island and The Caves of Kendalini. Other projects include the writing and directing of Lithium Dreams, a cyberpunk movie about identity shot in virtual reality, the co-writing of the film First House on the Hill, and his blog on immigration, languages, and Italians.

Ham

About Ham

**Free May 4th- May 7th!**

Warning: there’s an overwhelming amount of people in this town who believe in the principle of vigilante justice, and today that principle is to be used against my favor. So I warn you dear reader, if you are a human being with a soul that longs for true justice, or a mind that believes in second chances. Please, look away. For you just might learn that this world was invented by monsters. Or maybe, you just might see a man who holds little innocence, get exactly what he deserves.

When Brick Wilder asked me what I’d do if I knew I only had twenty-four hours to live, I never expected the answer to be: apologize to consistently unstable people, get hunted down by actual mobs formed by my own idiot brother, repeatedly prove to myself that I am my own worst hazard, and escape literal swordsmen — and yet that’s exactly what happened. Don’t believe me? I swear I’m being honest — after all, by 6:30 p.m. today, I’m set to die for telling nothing short of the honest truth.
