Upon discharge he spent two years in San Diego before moving to San Francisco. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a major in sociology and a minor in philosophy. He moved to New York City and, in 1979, became an alcoholism counselor. He married his wife Pam in 1984. He received his MSW from Fordham University in New York, then trained with Harville Hendrix, PhD to become an Imago Relationship Therapist, and from 1990 to the present has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice, specializing in the areas of addiction, trauma and couples therapy. (A client once described him as a cross between Clint Eastwood and Mr. Rogers.) Now in his 70s, he has more time to pursue his passion for writing and wakes up every morning feeling blessed he is married to his amazing wife, Pam.

With expertise in anaerobic microbiology and writing an exorbitant number of tech manuals and protocols, the only logical path going forward was to write what I wished.
Misunderstanding the common SciFi tropes of the day, the author builds complex worlds, adds a few interesting characters and lets them have at it.
Further expanding on tropes, the stories are not boom/bang/fight from the start and every third page, but are explicitly designed to not be interesting to an eight-year-old male. Interesting kids of any age or sex may enjoy the work even with the lack of explosions.
The author began writing SciFi in 2021 at the tender age of 70 and is writing short stories before tackling his 4th novel in the LiftShip series.
