About Featured Book: Luxe by M. Jayne
Like most recent college grads, I’m working three jobs just to pay rent and payoff my Jeep. Sure, I don’t have much of a social life, but truthfully, I’m too busy to notice. I’ve got bills to pay.
And… I’m one of the lucky ones. As an Omega wolf, my kind are usually killed or banished from their pack. Our presence can calm the most aggressive Lycan. Call it fear, or ignorance, but few wolves seek my friendship. So, I stay out of their way.
All that changed when I met Lucien St. Cloud. He is a decorated Council Guard. Not to mention being mind-blowingly sexy.
A warrior like him shouldn’t want me. I could make him lose his edge. Still, he pursues me with patience and tenderness.
I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything. Can a tentative wolf, like me, find the strength to be fearless in love?

The Christmas Bride by Christy McKee
The Christmas Bride by Christy McKee
Two items follow. Book Sales Blurb and the Synopsis
Synopsis:
EMMA KIMBALL (32), a social worker in New York City, clings to her late mother’s once-luxurious Park Avenue penthouse. She is too broke for a cup of Starbucks, let alone to pay her utilities. The only saving grace was Emma’s promise to her mother that she would spend Christmas at the Christmas Inn in Vermont, so she would be among people who loved her. The added bonus Emma’s room and meals are a gift from the innkeeper, Mrs. Faith Pennebeck.
JAKE CUTTER, MD (36), is an orthopedic surgeon born and raised in Haley, Vermont. He wanted to get out of his small hometown, away from his rigid, controlling father, and attend medical school in California. His dream was to get matched to a residency in orthopedic surgery and fellowship there and go into a practice catering to professional athletes. Jake discovers getting what you want doesn’t necessarily mean it’s what you need or what will make you happy. When he is offered a partnership with a local orthopedic surgeon in Haley, he gladly returns to Vermont, admitting it is exactly what he needs. He’s a kinder, gentler, less demanding person today than he was nine years ago.
Emma stands alone in one of the inn’s exquisite parlors sipping mulled wine and admiring the stunning Christmas tree. Finally relaxed after the long drive, she answers her phone without looking at the caller ID and is sickened when she hears the nasal, entitled voice of the president of her building association, joyfully announce she is locked out of her apartment effective this moment. Access will be restored when she pays her account. She manages to interject a few words into the one-sided conversation: “you’ve made me homeless, throwing me into the street and I have zero dollars in my bank account.” The insolent man hangs up on her. Could things possibly get any worse? Yes. Her former boyfriend, Jake Cutter, unnoticed in a rather tall wingback chair, overhears every blessed word.
Jake can’t believe his good fortune. It’s been nine years since he and Emma broke up and he’s never gotten over her. He’s at the inn because his apartment is flooded. Their shared history dictates Emma will do her best to freeze him out, but he isn’t going to let that happen. He’s not the same controlling person he was back in med school; when they broke up, it sounds like she needs his help.
Jake wants to win Emma back. His apartment is flooded, and by luck, he will be staying at the inn for a week. She will be a guest for at least one week. Theirs are the only rooms on the isolated third floor. He’s got motive, means and opportunity. It will take some strategic planning on his part, but this time around, he’s playing for big stakes. He’s playing for keeps.
Emma visits a newborn foal on Christmas Eve at a friend’s stable and remembers the happy summers she spent riding at Rollicking Hills camp outside Haley. Those weeks are one of her all-time favorite memories. Her goal has always been to help at-risk children and she sees starting a camp to do that. She investigates getting a grant for operational expenses. Excited, she looks at properties and starts to do her due diligence. Mrs. Pennebeck cautions Emma to talk with owner of the now defunct Rollicking Hills.
Alone at the inn, Emma and Jake make love for the first time. Later, Jake offers some suggestions of a few things she needs to research on the camp. Emma, thinking Jake is trying to control her or influence her decision, compares him to her father, an intimidating bully. Jake is incredulous that she could compare him to a man who has neglected and hurt Emma her entire life. Angry and a little hurt, Jake stalks out of the inn and takes all his belongings with him. Emma simmers down and regrets the things she said to Jake.
Emma sees the moving van and Jake’s SUV parked at the farmhouse. It would have been perfect for her summer camp. She is furious with Jake and feels he betrayed her. In her mind, he is still trying to control her—precisely like her disinterested, “can’t be bothered” father.
Bewildered by Emma’s irrational behavior, Jake goes to the Christmas Inn to pay his bill. Mrs. Pennebeck explains Emma is struggling. She’s sold her mother’s apartment in the city and lost her job. As a result, she feels disconnected and adrift. In her opinion, it’s the reason Emma latched on to the questionable idea of starting a summer camp for at-risk children.
Jake heads home and feels he better understands Emma’s frame of mind. As he reaches his farmhouse, he’s ready to relegate their argument to the past and is eager to show Emma the house. When he sees her peeking in his windows, he’s enthusiastic to get her inside. He reaches the front porch, and Emma confronts him about keeping a rather big secret from her, the house. But when she accuses him of stealing the house because it was perfect for her camp, he finally has enough and tells her they are done and get off his property.
Emma’s best friend, MADDIE EMMONS (32), a banker, tells her that she is mistaken about Jake. He signed a sales agreement to purchase the house two months before Emma came to town. Emma is mortified at her actions and the shameful way she treated him. She realizes her behavior is unreasonable and selfish. When had she stopped listening to the wants and needs of others?
Emma meets with the owner at Rollicking Hills and is very discouraged when she learns a valid list of reasons their camp couldn’t survive in today’s economy. After she leaves, she calls Mrs. Pennebeck and Charlie to tell them about the disappointing meeting with the owner and the more than promising interview at the hospital. Their enthusiastic and positive encouragement boosts her spirits.
In the late afternoon, Emma goes to the barn to exercise one of the horses. After her ride, she plans to apologize to Jake and not leave until he forgives her. He has always told her she reasons with her heart, not her head. Investing her inheritance and entire future into a business based strictly on emotion would have been a colossal mistake.
The wind and snow are blowing, and her horse is skittish. Emma is thrown and sustains a head injury. Unconscious for twenty-four hours in ICU, Jake is afraid he might lose her. It’s his voice talking calmly to her that finally wakes her up. When she wakes, she apologizes and admits she judged him unfairly. In fact, Jake is nothing at all like her father. She reveals her decision not to pursue the camp; solely based on cold, hard facts without a shred of sentiment. Jake proposes two weeks later, and they are married in less than a year on Christmas Eve at the inn.
Sales Blurb
She’s ruled by her emotions. He’s determined to prove his feelings are real. Is snow-covered Vermont a perfect place for a second chance at forever?
Emma Kimball is struggling to keep tradition alive. Drowning in debt from her late mother’s medical bills, she escapes to spend December in her childhood’s beloved small-town inn. And the last complication she needs is for her handsome ex to crash her wintery wonderland.
Dr. Jake Cutter almost has it all. Nine years after their painful breakup, he’s bent on chasing a Yuletide miracle to win back the woman he loves. So even knowing that she’s skittish to reconnect, he’s willing to do the work to thaw her heart.
Scared she’ll wreck her future and end up with someone just like her overly controlling father, a wary Emma resists the allure of her old flame’s attempts to reconcile. But as Jake worries about once again messing up the best thing ever, he refuses to stop hoping he’s been good enough to earn a kiss underneath the mistletoe.
Can an unexpected holiday reunion turn out to be the greatest gift of all?

Author Bio:
I never set out to be an author. My goal was always TV news. During a break from college, I was fortunate to get an internship with Associated Press—a real prize for a broadcast major. A few months into the job, I made a catastrophic mistake, quoting a source incorrectly. I’d rewritten a few words to make the sentence flow better. Unfortunately, my “re-arranging” altered the source’s meaning, and my boss was apoplectic. The red-faced bureau chief fired me on the spot, muttering under his breath that I should try my hand at fiction.
After working in TV news—getting up at four AM really sucked— I spent time in advertising, produced radio and tv commercials, telecourses for a southern university, training at another southern university, and a stint in healthcare; I was still searching for “the best” job, for me. After nearly two decades, the words of my former AP bureau chief still rang in my head. Fiction. Maybe it was time. Our children were grown. My husband offered to take on nightly dinners and our big Lab, Brody, was ecstatic to have a stay-at-home mom. Finally, I was on my way! But where was I going?
Well…growing up near a lakeside resort town—spending a lot of time at my dad’s marina—I was inspired to create quirky, cozy, friendly Haley, Vermont. Most of my main characters are thirty-somethings. They’ve faced failed relationships, weathered job changes and are looking for love—whether they own up to it or not. Many are in need of a second chance, and it’s up to me to give them one. Watching my characters achieve their destiny through personal growth, strong friendships, and facing their life challenges head-on, is my goal for every story.
My husband and I live near the beautiful coast of North Carolina. When I’m not writing, we love taking Brody, our black Lab, and our small grandchildren to the beach for walking or sandcastle-building. My “other” pleasures are reading, water aerobics, indulging my sweet tooth, and long lunches with my friends—in no particular order.
