WildWood by K. Ramsuer

About Featured Book: WildWood by K. Ramsuer

Two wounded men. One semi mythical, magical pool. A forest full of monsters out for blood…

Magic brought Danel to the WildWood and nearly killed him in the process. What good is a crippled knight? No one will hire him and he’s forced to eke out a living as a knight errant. It’s a hard life, but someone has to do it. When he comes across a half Fae wanderer in the forest and hears of a healing pool, he jumps at the chance to find it.

Aldyn used to be Prince Magnus of the Ten Isles, but a coup led by his illegitimate sister has left him burned and alone in the WildWood. Finding Danel – and learning that he could use a little healing – is better luck than he’s had in years. He didn’t count on the ravens, though, or drawing the attention of every nasty beast that calls the WildWood home. What should have been a simple quest quickly turns into a fight against forces neither one of them could even imagine.

It’s a race against time to find the pools and heal themselves…

Author Bio:
J. Kilburn’s narrative style has been compared to those of Joyce Carol Oates, Virginia Wolfe, D.H. Lawrence, Hunter S. Thompson, and Nell Zink. His subjects and almost cinematic descriptions of setting have earned his work comparison to movies and television shows like Sons of Anarchy, Tin Star, Twin Peaks, and Thelma and Louise. Prior to Heaven’s Door, a Novel and BEFORE, Kilburn’s other published work was a feature-length investigative news article that got the whole page in his community newspaper.

Kilburn lives a quiet and private life on the shore of America’s sixth Great Lake. He has lived and worked in Vermont, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Minnesota. During these travels, Kilburn has dabbled in law enforcement, private security, emergency medicine, truck driving, and horse-logging. Other occupations have included at-risk youth mentor, big-city process server, park ranger, and industrial wastewater treatment operator. Along the way, he’s pedaled to 14,000 feet above sea-level in a major bicycle race, been marooned overnight on a deserted island, ridden a motorcycle from Chicago to Thunder Bay, and hiked Vermont’s highest peaks to watch sunsets on both the longest and coldest days of the year. He currently maintains plastics processing machinery for a major manufacturing company. When not at work he and his wife enjoy life around a little urban farm complete with greenhouse, garden, and mini-barn. Their current flock is composed of four chickens and a cat named Sierra Feral.

The Cursed King

About The Cursed King

Airk Azdajah, the rightful King of the White Clan of dragon shifters, spent half a millennium being tortured by the false High King Pytheios. The only reason he’s alive is a curse— the man to kill Airk will be consumed in his own fire. Which is why Pytheios kept Airk alive, barely, unable to shift in his prison cage, driving the creature half of him into madness. Airk escaped, but he’ll never be truly free. What good is a king who can never let his feral dragon loose, never fly, and never lead his people? He’s better off dead.

Angelika Amon is the last unmated phoenix. The problem? She has no powers. Zip. Zilch. Angelika hates being dormant, especially now that her three sisters are blissfully mated to powerful dragon shifter kings and are very much part of the fight to take down the rotting king Pytheios, their parents’ killer. What good is a useless runt of a phoenix in a battle to save the dragon kingdom?

Desperate to find some way to help, she offers herself to Airk as a mate — just for political leverage. But a dormant phoenix is no damn use to him just like a dragon who can’t shift is no use to her. Until Pytheios sets his sights on Angelika for himself…
