I was born in Salisbury, England, in 1973, eldest son of a sailor and a seamstress. I excelled in mediocrity at grammar school, where in 1989 I was voted most likely to have a commercially unsuccessful career in the music industry and write a book about it. I fulfilled this prediction with alacrity, which is why you’re reading this.

I was writing songs from an early age, and my love of both writing and music led me to producing an independent music fanzine in the early 1990s called The Bendy Pencil, that you’ve never heard of before now and never will again. I began playing in bands around the same time, which remained a constant as I hopped between dole cheques and temporary employment in Smalltown England.

I met my future wife and attended her wedding to somebody else in 1998, before her untimely deportation the following year. The upshot of this was the pair of us moving to Australia in 2000, where I continued to lose money hand-over-fist as a semi-professional musician in Melbourne for the next two decades. Despite writing more than 300 songs, playing well over 500 gigs, and releasing 14 albums I notably failed to attain any tangible success, and resorted to any number of part time jobs to support myself. Nevertheless, I continued to write, finding myself involved in some thrilling creative endeavours, including the writing and design of training manuals for business analysts, product catalogues for hydraulic component wholesalers, web copy for beauty therapists and proof-reading local council newsletters.

In 2019 I realised that I now had considerable expertise in what not to do to become a success as a musician, and decided to write a book about it – which proved both enormously rewarding and far cheaper than recording another album, not to mention much easier than finishing my first novel.

Author Bio:
Michael was born in the state of Virginia and raised in the beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. After a short stint in professional baseball, he began his media career working for television and radio stations. Later, he transitioned into online and print sports journalism. In 2006, he founded his own film and television production company TipToe Productions, which he presently owns and operates. This has led to collaborating on award-winning projects and various producing, directing, screenwriting, and acting roles.

The Sons of Summer was his debut novel.

It’s the early 1970’s, and Dave Cameron is soon to start work as an intern at a large university hospital in the South. Before Orientation, he meets Sharon, who his friend Henry swears is his perfect match. Dave and Sharon quickly fall into a passionate relationship that surprises them both in its intensity. Sharon Kelly is a beautiful flight attendant whose looks lead to her becoming a model but they also create problems for her. When she meets Dave, she is running or flying away from those problems and her past. Dave is an unconventional doctor: a music-loving, long-haired idealist who hopes his generation will improve the world. He manages the stress of his internship with a combination of smoking weed and having sex with Sharon. They both go trough life changing metamorphoses over the course of his internship as their relationship evolves into an all-consuming unconditional love.
This is a story about what it took to become a doctor when doctors were physicians, not providers. It is about a young doctor doing his internship in a city/county hospital in the early seventies and the training he went through to become a competent physician. It is about his struggle to find love and maintain hope in the face of the daunting challenges he faced. It is about the wild alcohol and drug fueled parties coupled with the torrid nights of unrestrained passion he needed in order to deal with the pathos of the human condition he encountered every day at the hospital. It is first and foremost a love story about two young lovers, but interwoven into the framework of their love are the obstacles they had to overcome and the transitions they had to go through in order to reach the threshold of a bright future together. It is about one year, the internship year, in the life of a young doctor going through hell, but finding heaven in the love of a beautiful, exceptional, young woman.
However, this novel is about more than a young man becoming a competent, reliable physician, finding love, and maintaining hope in the face of the challenges he encounters. It also addresses the issues that arose out of the counter culture of the 60’s and 70’s along with the problems our society faces today. The young lovers must navigate the lure of excess and self-indulgence, the changing mores and morals of the sexual revolution, racism, bigotry, sexual harassment, and the corrosive effects of poverty and wealth inequality on society, along with the advent of nihilism and existentialism in our culture. It is also about the complexities of life in the ever more rapidly evolving world we live in.

Author Bio:
I have a BS in Biology from Southern Methodist University, an MD Degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and three years of postgraduate training – Internship and Residency. I was Board Certified and practiced Medicine for thirty years, serving as a Hospital Chief of Staff of one hospital and on multiple Hospital Committees at another. I was the Project Leader for several programs analyzing old systems and developing new systems to improve quality, decrease cost, and improve efficiency for a large multi-specialty medical group – Kaiser in California. I was a Volunteer Facility Member for two medical schools training medical students and residents, as well as nurse practitioners. I served my community as the high school team physician for football, was elected to four county boards, and was on the board of directors for two nonprofits; one for hospice care and one for environmental preservation. This is my second novel. The first dealt with internship. I have been married for forty-seven years and we have two adult children and one grandchild. I am retired and reside in Northern California.

Bento is a certified relationship skills trainer. He has been fascinated by human relationships for decades, and nothing gets him more inspired than seeing people experience breakthroughs in their personal lives and with the people they love and care about.

From 2005 to 2020, Bento taught communication and relationship skills as an authorized instructor of several curricula for a statewide non-profit organization in California. He taught thousands of couples and singles in classroom-type settings in various venues throughout the state, including faith-based organizations, family resource centers, schools, county jails, and federal prison. Author Bio:
Anne Fox lives in El Paso along with six chickens, a pond full of goldfish, two Maine Coon cats, and a full-blooded alley cat. She enjoys many hobbies, including crafts, gardening, and rockhounding. When not writing, she practices her marksmanship skills and draws upon that for her crime/suspense series, The Unit. Also the holder of a Commercial pilot’s license, she once ran her own flight school and trained many people to fly, having over 6,000 flight hours recorded in her pilot logbooks.

Anne began writing in 2019 with her debut book, Gabriel’s Call—a stand-alone novel about a woman believed to be schizophrenic and her doctor. It’s the only stand-alone and the only metaphysical book she has penned. She then segued into the crime/suspense genre, with now 20 books to The Unit series and number 21 being completed.

Anne created her own publishing company, Star on the Mountain Books, and is the proverbial “chief cook and bottle washer” there: writing, editing, formatting, and proofreading her own books as well as books for others. She regularly gives a shout-out to her wonderful cover artist, Momir Borocki, for his excellent work on all of her books.

Doing extensive research for all of her The Unit series books keeps her busy as well. She tries her best to portray a realistic account of the action within each book and focuses strongly on the human side of the characters. Readers will share her characters’ inner thoughts, fears, and desires as she paints them with an emotional brush to bring them alive. Asked why she writes, she often responds with, “Because my characters insist that I tell their stories.” They all hope her readers will find their stories interesting.
