Tapestry of My Mother’s Life by Malve von Hassell
Tapestry of My Mother’s Life by Malve von Hassell
Tapestry of My Mother’s Life is a biographical account of a woman coming of age in Germany during the 1930s. Malve von Hassell explores her mother’s life through the fragmented lens of transmitted memory, and its impact on the second generation.
Born at her grandfather’s house in Farther Pomerania, 1923, Christa von Hassell had to contend with the increasing and pervasive impact of the Nazi regime. As the child of a German army officer, she moved with her parents often. Through boarding school, university, marriage, the Second World War, life under Soviet occupation, and a new beginning in the West that eventually took her to America, the biography is an emotional journey of childhood, survival, and relationships.
The portrayal of Christa’s life also focuses on the role of memory: shaped, distorted, and realigned in the continual process of telling stories of the past in conjunction with silence about many aspects. Children of women who shared similar experiences and life trajectories struggled with the challenge of learning about their parents’ lives during extraordinary times, confounded by a wealth of stories on the one hand and a seemingly impenetrable veil of silence on the other.
Working through such memorabilia, as well as the tales of the past, can offer ways in which one can come to terms with the inherited detritus of thoughts and memories. As such, this account of the life of a unique and complex individual has also wider relevance in that it addresses age-old questions of the relationship between one generation and the next.

The Waterstreet Button Factory
About The Waterstreet Button Factory
This horror novella follows the journey’s of four individuals throughout their residency at The Waterstreet Button Factory. Read along as they face typical life struggles as well as the factory’s terror:
“The Waterstreet Button Factory, constructed in 1897 with a concrete base and four stories of solid bricks. Within its walls labored many Irish and German immigrants over the years, as well as housed the city’s heroin addicts. Yes, this building has seen it all. The Great Flood of 1924 which submerged just over one story of the factory, leaving buttons dispersed and scattered across a six-block radius. It saw the longest recorded power outage for the city, to date.
After being vacated in the 1960s, due to a declining economy, the open floor plan was divided in hopes of being used for an indoor farmer’s market. The renovations, however, were never completed after a City Councilman embezzled millions of dollars in tax-payer money through the project, and supposedly fled to Mexico before the arrest warrant was issued. The dividers from the failed project were not a complete waste, as they were used nearly four decades later when the property was converted into industrial apartments.
Now, within the factory’s walls in Apartment 41, is a woman in her late-twenties who has found herself calling this place home. Twinkling lights now encase the original steel windows. The windows were beautiful. Their enormous size and thin windows provide substantial lighting during the warmer months, but poor insulation during the colder ones. Penny hadn’t gotten to experience that yet. She has only resided in the housing for three months. The fall nights had her dreading the upcoming season. The low temperatures combined with insufficient indoor heating would prove less of an inconvenience and more of a nightmare. Unfortunately, that would not be the only nightmare Penny would face during her stay at The Waterstreet Button Factory.”

I finally put my creepy and disturbing mind to good use and began writing horror fiction. My fascination with all things scary began at a young age by watching many, many horror themed films. Unfortunately, my husband has often been a victim of my horror entertainment by my scary pranks. So now, instead of crawling on the ground with my hair over my face while my husband returns from his 2 AM bathroom break, I am putting those thoughts onto paper for your amusement. I hope you enjoyed reading this book just as much as I enjoyed writing it for you.
Happy Hauntings!

Hoping for a fresh start and to avoid the holiday completely, she’s planned a Valentine’s detox: a luxurious trip alone to the historic Courtington Castle hotel, near the adorably quaint town of Camelot Creek, tucked into a picturesque valley in the Adirondacks.
But escaping the heart-shaped balloons and red roses isn’t as easy as she thought.
This won’t be the restful retreat she’d imagined. Instead, she’s just walked into one of the biggest matchmaking events of the year. I began writing when my children asked me to create a bedtime story for them.
I would spend most nights sat by their beds reading these to them and seeing my youngest daughters face light up as she intently listened to the words I had put together with such fascination was the most enjoyable experience for myself.
I had the idea for my first novel around six years ago, however it wasn’t until I started writing bedtime stories for my children that I gained the confidence to push myself to try and write it down.
It has been a real journey writing my story, from plotting and scene setting to character development I have had to learn a lot as I went along. I find writing therapeutic and often after a long or busy day at work, once my daughter is tucked up in bed I sit at my laptop and continue to work on my stories which helps me to unwind and relax.
Mental health is my vocation and my passion and I try to include topics subtly within my stories with the hope that one day someone might pick up my story, realise that they are not alone in the way they are feeling, that it is ok to feel that way and to talk to someone.
Unhinged
About Unhinged
Love and hate collide when Greg Rodwell spills his secrets to two women, torching all three worlds.
Yeah, I did it. In pouring out my heart to my married best friend, fate handed me an opening along with my unzipped fly, and I flung it all against a wall before setting it on fire. What I did… I should regret it, but the only lesson I learned was I should’ve done it sooner. Still, I know this will haunt Hadley and me forever.
On the other hand, living with Simone’s betrayal—mocking me and setting me up just like they did to me over a decade ago—I’m a live wire of animosity. My darkness was never supposed to see the light of day, but she gift-wrapped it for the world to tear open. She trashed our friendship. I hope that fact haunts her forever too.
Ditching Richmond, that life-changing night, and both chicks, I try to restart or take a breather—something my sister never had before she died. Unfortunately, and uninvited, I’m not the only passenger on this displeasure cruise. My recent screw-up is a roadblock in every way imaginable until I discover her weakness: guilt. I grab on to that sucker because she wants to make it right with me to ease her conscience. Which she will. To rebuild my life, I need a tour guide to show me the ropes, in a bedroom and with a woman. While I lack the experience, she’s skilled in that department. And before I cut her loose, she’ll make me one too. She owes me. Restraint be damned.
