Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a public school teacher and varsity high school soccer coach. This is my first book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Incredible Adventures of Kinslee and Kallie: How to Build a Snowman. Our first inspiration was of course our two daughters, Kinslee and Kallie. Writing about their journey through life and the different adventures that they partake in will allow their childhood to live on even when they become adults.

The second big reason is, as public school educators, we understand how crucial it is for every child to not only read but, more importantly, to find joy in reading. our hope by creating The Incredible Adventures of Kinslee and Kallie: book series, every child will have a book they can enjoy! This is why we decided to do early childhood (Juvenile) children’s books. Finding love for reading early in a child’s life, will help them tremendously as they grow up.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to wake up around 4 am. It is quiet and I can just focus on my writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dr. Suess is a huge one for me. The classics: Clifford, Franklin, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.

What are you working on now?
A holiday book that is hopefully going to be released in November.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
http://authorjosephdayna.com

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. I know at times you just want to quit but don’t. It is so worth it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never wait for someone to come and fulfill your dreams. Work harder than anyone else.

What are you reading now?
Tons of books. I like to go on different websites and find books no one is reading.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Just perfecting my manuscript for my next book.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
IT by Stephen King, How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Suess, and Harry Potter by JK Rowling.

Ella Shine

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
There are two writers behind the pen name Ella Shine. Cecily Paterson is the author of nine Middle Grade/early YA novels, and Penny Reeve has written over 20 books for children of all ages.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Our first Pet Sitters series includes four books, including ‘Gus Makes A Fuss’ about a grumpy talking cat who makes friends with Lina and Cassie, the pet sitters of Barefoot Springs. THe best friends end up looking after a sometimes invisible guinea pig in ‘Purple Panic’, an oddly flying miniature pony in ‘Tony Takes Off’, and a glitter-sneezing, very allergic pet lizard in ‘Glitter Jitters’.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
We plan the books first, then take turns to write a chapter each. We edit each other’s work as we go, and then do a final read through so that we can hear how the stories sound out loud.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many mention, but for this series, we’re highly influenced by every junior fiction writer who’s produced more than 20 books in a single series.

What are you working on now?
More Pet Sitters stories… including one about mice who multiply in a puff of marshmallow-coloured smoke.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We’re not sure what our best method is yet… but we do like it when young readers love our stories.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Spend time getting good at the writing and storytelling, and don’t rush to publication.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Do the work.”

What are you reading now?
One of us loves thriller fiction, and biographies, which seem an odd combination, but there you go… I’m usually reading one or the other of them.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Hopefully more Pet Sitters. We have a lot of ideas for more magical fun.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My first writing interest was travel writing. I have been writing travel features which were published in magazines across the world. However, I’m also a passionate reader of fiction and this compulsion has led me to write my debut novel ‘By Way of the Valley’, which is set in the suggestive Validichiana valley in Tuscany. It chronicles the quest for self-discovery of an everyday hero who is struggling to overcome his problems and take what is his by right.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
‘By Way of the Valley’ is my debut novel. I was inspired to write it during my travels in the Chiana Valley in Tuscany, where I met a number of people whose quirks seemed perfectly normal in the setting where they lived, but, who, if transposed to another setting, would have seemed oddly outlandish. Italy might bring up romantic notions, but its allure also comes from its dark and sinister aspects. I wanted to bring out these contrasting aspects in my novel – a kind of chiaroscuro backdrop.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write early in the morning but sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and run off to my home office to write a few paragraphs if the writing spree grips me.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My all-time favourite authors include, amongst others, Joanne Harris, Roald Dahl, Dan Brown and Paolo Coelho.

What are you working on now?
I am now working on a travel book/ memoir about Malta, the island where I was born and raised, entitled ‘Notes from a Dinky Dunghill.’

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use my website, Facebook, Amazon ads and sites like Awesome Gang to promote my books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read, read and read more. Get the opinions of others about your writing. Writing is a journey where, if you are determined, you will improve as you travel the way.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best way to become a good writer is to write.

What are you reading now?
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

What’s next for you as a writer?
Some friends who read my debut novel told me that it is ripe for a sequel. Perhaps I will follow their advice.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Five-Quarters of the Orange by Joanne Harris
My Uncle Oswald by Roald Dahl
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an author, wife, and mother. Originally from California, now living in Texas with my husband and two daughters. Glow Girl is my debut novel, being published this May.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Glow Girl was inspired by my youth. While the story and characters are fictional, some of the experiences of the main character are relatable to what young people face today as they navigate an adult world, while still wanting to have fun and be part of the carefree lifestyle that accompanies childhood.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes! I write while watching TV with my toddler. While she’s crawling all over me and pulling my hair, I’m typing away and stopping in between words to acknowledge her.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I fell in love with Wally Lamb in high school. The very adult themes pulled me in, even from a young age. The drama and circumstances he paints make me feel like I’m there, living that life. I love disappearing into his characters and their struggle. I aim to do the same with my writing.

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on promotion for Glow Girl, and also on my second novel. I hope to have number two out by Christmas this year or early next year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m trying everything! This is my first time around, so I’m kind of throwing it all out there and seeing what comes back. Casting a wide net and will assess what works and what doesn’t at the end of the experience.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. Sit down, and start typing. Even if it doesn’t make sense at first, fumble through it until it does. You can always delete and edit later, and you will. Oh, you will. I learned more in the editing process of Glow Girl than I did in the entire year it took me to write it. With the second book, things are going much faster because of what I learned editing the first.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
As it relates to writing, see above. But ever, ever? I guess that life goes on, things change, and there’s no sense in not moving forward with it. I’ve had some really amazing experiences in my life, I’ve also had some really dark ones. It doesn’t make sense to dwell on either, because there are more of both coming and I wouldn’t want to miss them because I’m stuck on ones that already came and passed.

What are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading my own work. Writing and editing is all-encompassing for me. I commit myself to my work until it’s done. No time for fun and games.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Writing more books! I’m excited to get to my next projects.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb
Party Monster by James St. James
Summer Sisters by Judy Blume
Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

Richie Richards

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a comedy writer and comic artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I currently have two books published and more on the way.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest novel, The Dirtsheets, was inspired by my love of professional wrestling and trolling. I feel that most of today’s ‘comedy’ graphic novels aren’t funny, so I decided to write something that makes me laugh.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Whether writing a novel or article, I like to map out the entire story before writing anything. This helps me create foreshadowing and references in early drafts, rather than forcing myself to rewrite the story to include these ideas.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Johnny Ryan, Scott McCloud and a childhood full of reading the newspaper comics everyday were influential to my art and pacing. Many characters in The Dirtsheets are parodies of WWE wrestlers and the intertwining storylines are inspired by professional wrestling’s style of live-action story telling.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my next novel set in the universe of my webcomic, First World Problems. It is the story of a man who encounters suicides everywhere he goes, and he must figure out how to stop it before he succumbs to suicide himself. It is a dark comedy comic and traditional novel hybrid. I will resume releasing comics on instagram soon in preparation for release later this year.

In the meantime, I write satire news, links can be found on my website.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try to promote my work by constantly releasing new material in hopes it will draw attention to my books. For example, I write satire news and occasionally release webcomics.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Schedule time to write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Always wear sunscreen. Don’t play with gasoline. Check yourself before zipping up.

What are you reading now?
Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to find a publisher for my next novel. During that time, I’ll be writing my next book.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible and two copies of The Dirtsheets, so I can be the best selling author on the island.

Sandeep Patel

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello, I’m Sandeep Patel from London U.K. About my personal life, just a normal guy that spends time with his family (wife and daughter), watch movies, listen to music, play video games, exercise, try to practice cooking, keep the house clean, keep the car clean, do some colouring, do some yoga, read the Holy Bible, do whatever else she needs, do whatever He needs, keep social life active, and spiritual life open. I also oversee a couple of English-Medium schools in India as a Trustee (zenschools.org), making sure they are all running smoothly on all accounts from students, teachers, staff and other board members.

I have written four books. Three about ten years ago and one two years back. The recent one is doing so well, five times well in two years then the other three over ten years, that people are picking up the other three now!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of the latest book is, Bhagavan’s Guitar – As Light Is.
What inspired me to write the book is simple, I wanted to know about Lord Krishna, and how my experiences and knowledge acquired during life could bring Him into the modern era that many others can enjoy. One statement emphasized in old scriptures was that Lord Krishna was supreme, so I wanted to know how and why and if so could His life story be helpful in modern times. I found many traits to be true and so brought this story to be on the market.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I was enjoyed listening to music when writing, but as my love for writing grew all I needed was the time and a quiet place to write. If making notes is unusual I guess this would count, but as far as that, not really.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many authors have influenced me, however the top most will always be T. H. White, in the famous book he wrote called, The Once and Future King.

What are you working on now?
At present I’m working on promotion of all four books. Nothing more on the writing side as the diamonds I have I still need to see sparkle in the eyes of the reader.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Twitter, Facebook, Amazon and Instagram have been my main source of promoting.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do the work, get to the end, edit and format, use word of mouth, don’t be shy, treat as a business if you are looking for sales and feedback, and utmost excel in enjoy what you do!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

What are you reading now?
In honesty, nothing at the moment. I am looking forward to reading a few books that I have on my shelf like Ready Player Two (as I really enjoyed the first one) and a few personal others. I’ll post on my Goodreads profile once I’m able to.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Ready to become an International Bestseller. I believe the work I placed into the books I have need and will be recognized as true gems. So as much time I spent on making the books exist I am to place in promoting them. Everyday I speak to people about them, every now and then I sell copies to others, but still I am waiting for feedback to the tenth fold on each one of them. I know my work is there to absolutely enjoy, so once I reach my goal I will rest, maybe write another, and definitely do more for humanity as you will read from my stories.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
(hahaha), first of all it will be the Holy Bible.
Next, possibly a comic of Superman, or the book Death and Life of Superman.
The Once and Future King – T.H. White, I always wanted to read that one again.
and Bhagavan’s Guitar, as I say it’s the relation with Lord Krishna to be made, that on a desert island one would want to know the one his soul is supposedly talking to.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Irish but in my quest to get away from the terrible weather, I have somehow ended up in Kazakhstan where the weather is even worse. In summer it reaches +40°C, in winter it plunges to -40°C. I don’t mind the +40°C! I have two books (short stories) already out and there are 3 more in the works, which will be arriving later in 2021.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
I’m currently working on a “light dark fantasy” or “cozy horror” story, about three identical sisters who don’t believe in magic, despite being surrounded by it. It’s a follow up to an earlier short story (and I’ve already got the first draft of their third adventure ready!).

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No. No unusual habits. No strange thoughts. No voices in my head. Nothing. I am completely normal. Completely. Normal.

What are you working on now?
I’m sketching out a different type of anthology for later in the year, which is a little bit dark, a little bit literary. I also want to take part in NaNoWriMo this month, I know exactly the story I’m going to write!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have a blog in my own website where I publish a new piece of flash fiction every Thursday, that’s a great way to get people used to my stories!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the books you want to read. Learn to touch type and dictate. Dictation is incredibly hard if you’re not naturally a talker. I can’t think and talk at the same time, so I’m finding dictation a real challenge.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the books you want to read. You’re guaranteed one reader (assuming the writing’s good!).

What are you reading now?
I always have several books on the go. Currently Jane Yolen’s The Emerald Circus, Catriona Ward’s The Last House On Needless Street, the Weird Dream Society anthology and Adam L.G. Nevill’s Cries from the Crypt as well as To The Hermitage by Malcolm Bradbury.

What’s next for you as a writer?
More books? And maybe even a play if I can. Just because.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
We All Hear Stories In The Dark by Robert Shearman. It’s 3 volumes, 101 stories over almost 1,800 pages. That’ll keep me going for a while. The Third Policeman by Flann O’Brien would also have to come with me, it’s an incredible read, with all sorts of layers and styles. And then give me How To Invent Everything by Ryan North, which is the most entertaining guide to kickstarting your own civilisation you’ll ever read.
