Christa Bakker

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
When I was living in Nottingham, UK, a friend inspired me to write a portal fantasy, which became The Jet Jewel. A lot of the setting is inspired by Nottingham’s Victorian buildings and, of course, by Nottingham Castle. Even though I wrote most of that book living in France, I actually finished it back in the UK.
My time in France, however, inspired me to write a series of sunny cosy mysteries, which I’m currently working on.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The title of my current work in progress is Death by Naked Ladies. Although the main character is a vintage pin-up photographer, you won’t find any actual naked ladies inside. Sorry to disappoint 😉 The titular Naked Ladies is in fact a poisonous plant…

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wish! I can only write when the children are at school and don’t need me, so I’m bound by their schedule. No time to make myself a mai tai first, or strip to my underwear and only write with the light of the full moon.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
It’s almost impossible to pick one author. I’ve read so much over the years, that I can’t pinpoint certain authors that have always been there. Like most cozy mystery writers, I’d pick Agatha Christie as a source of inspiration. And for my fantasy book, I’d have to name Susanna Clarke. I read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell when I was outlining, and it quickly ascended to my favourite book.

What are you working on now?
Like I said, my current work in progress is the St Maurice Mystery Series. It features a female vintage pin-up photographer solving mysteries in a rural French village.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m only just getting started, so I don’t have any recommendations yet.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just do it. Keep going. It’ll never be perfect, you won’t be an overnight success. But you’ll get there, as long as you keep putting your work out there.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Butt in chair. Without it, there’s nothing to market, nothing to sell.

What are you reading now?
I always have several books going. For my book club I’m reading Outlawed, but I also have a Flavia DeLuce novel open, and I should get back to The Silent Companions…

What’s next for you as a writer?
Since I’m working on the first draft of the first novel in my first mystery series, I don’t think I should be thinking about what will come next! 😀

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Can they be collected works? Because I have them on my shelves: Oscar Wilde, Jane Austen and Arthur Conan Doyle. If there were a giant book of Agatha Christie’s work, I might switch that for Jane Austen (gasp, sacrilege!). Because the last space would be reserved for my Bible.

Amazon International Best-Selling Author Ted Lazaris

Author Contact: tedlazaris@gmail.com

Hi there,Warm Regards, Ted Lazaris

To listen to the audible versions of the DragonMan Series go to this link: https://www.audible.com/search?searchAuthor=Ted+Lazaris

As, author of the DragonMan Series I would like to share with you, my lifelong struggle with dyslexia.

I have always struggled with the problem. In school, it was always terribly difficult for me to read what was right in front of me. And reading, writing, and spelling still to this day remain difficult for me. One thing I’ve learned despite having this learning disability, I can accomplish my goals, if I don’t, get overwhelmed by the big picture… I just take one step at a time.

DragonMan: Face Of The Unknown, authored by Ted Lazaris, who created DragonMan and wrote the series of novels, has accomplished the amazing feat of debuting at NUMBER #1 on AMAZON KINDLE, ahead of David Baldacci and James Patterson novels.

Ted Lazaris, (Dragonman Productions) received the attention and a Letter of Commendation from former First Lady, Laura Bush who commented “I admire your efforts, through writing adventure stories, to encourage people of all ages to enjoy reading.

The following is the Foreword Written in the Novel, DragonMan – Descendants Of Man, by Actress, Kya Garwood, who is also known for roles in films such as Into The Woods – National Treasure – Dark Shadows.

Ted Lazaris is the successful, #1 Amazon best-selling, creator and author of the DragonMan series, a 21st-century superhero saga – like nothing we’ve experienced before. Ted can add screenwriter, producer, and, if that wasn’t enough, writer of lyrics to two songs set to feature in the films, to his impressive list of achievements.

The amazing story of DragonMan was born at the dawn of the 21st Century, when the world, about to change forever, watched in disbelief as four passenger airliners crashed, not only into buildings and a field in Shanksville Pennsylvania but into the American certainty that the horrors of the outside world could not touch them at home.

It was into this world that a new kind of superhero emerged, one for whom the lines between good and evil are blurred. Is he friend? Or is he foe? No one knows for sure. What they do know, however, is that as a friend there is no one better.

DragonMan The Series is being produced for the big screen by Maina Entertainment LLC
The Movie is Coming Soon! From the Best Selling Book Series by Ted Lazaris.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well. I was born and raised in Jodhpur, popularly known as suncity. I’m a physiotherapist, state govt employee and a writer. A gold medalist in Physiotherapy and Pharmacy in Rajasthan. Apart from this, I love travelling in mountains, riding bikes and dancing. I have written two books, “Our 6.5 Years” ( 2018 ) and “Unworthy Love” (2021)

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is ‘Unworthy love’- an emotion that keeps you going. The emotional side of a man, which usually they hide, inspired me to write something related to that. Many times, this question came into my mind as to why it is so difficult for males to express themselves. Why not they just cry it out without the fear of being judged or whatever reason which holds them back and they try to remain strong with that feeling.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Haha.. yes.. it is very difficult for me to find a particular time and environment to write and either I don sit and write, I keep thinking about writing this n that but I don’t write or I just sit and start writing and I don’t stop until I’m done with what’s in my mind.. no matter how long it takes.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many.. it is difficult to name all of them. But I want to mention ‘The notebook’ by Nicholas Sparks, ‘I too had love story’ by Ravindra Singh and ‘Subtle art of not giving a fuck’ by Mark Manson.

What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on my hindi poetries and one liners.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media platforms impacts people a lot. I am a instagrammer I use this social media platform to promote & post my work. Personal blog is also a great way to connect with people.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Haha.. I am still learning. I myself have a lot of things to learn about. One thing I want to share is to be consistent with your writings, it’s okay if it takes more time than you expected, there is no race here take your time and complete what has started don’t leave anything in between. Express whatever you think. whatever you wanna say to the world.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Learn all good and leave all bad.
My dad taught me this.. “Har insaan m achai aur burayi dono hoti hai, hum koi nahi hote kisi par ungali uthaane wale, bas unki achhai sikhlo unse aur burai unki unme hi chod do..” Everyone deals with their own karma & choices.

What are you reading now?
I don’t get much time for reading nowadays, because of my hectic working schedule.. but whenever I get time I read self-care books, self-love poems, or books.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Honestly speaking, right now I don’t know. My responsibility as a healthcare worker always comes first.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Just my pen and my diaries

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I´m a Canadian author who has written the popular Amanda Travels series, featuring a spunky twelve-year-old who loves to travel to unique places where she encounters mystery and adventure while learning about another culture. Readers of all ages enjoy travelling with Amanda as she unravels one mystery after another in various countries. I’ve won prizes for my short stories and a number of them have been published in anthologies.
I grew up on a farm/ranch near Medicine Hat, Alberta, where my love of reading inspired me to travel the world and write stories. Over the years I held wonderful jobs such as an employment counsellor, ESL teacher, recruiter, and retail manager, and wrote whenever I had a few spare minutes. I am now retired and have a home in Spain where I write full time. When not travelling, meeting interesting people, and collecting ideas for my books, I like to spend time with my husband and entertaining rescue dogs, Dot and Lia.

I have written eight books in the series, Amanda in Arabia: The Perfume Flask, Amanda in Spain: The Girl in The Painting, Amanda in England: The Missing Novel, Amanda in Alberta: The Writing on the Stone, Amanda on The Danube: The Sounds of Music, Amanda in New Mexico: Ghosts in the Wind, and Amanda in Holland: Missing in Action. Amanda in Malta: The Sleeping Lady will be released in the spring of 2021.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Amanda in Malta: The Sleeping Lady is my latest book. My husband and I visited Malta as a stop on a cruise. We were blown away and wanted to see more of this amazing place. A year later we spent a week exploring all three main islands. While there I kept saying, Amanda would just love it here. Travel often inspires me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I take a lot of pictures and notes while visiting an interesting place with plans to include the setting in a book eventually. Some people think that this may spoil the holiday as I am constantly working, but I think it enhances the trip as I tend to notice more of the unique details.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Lucy Maude Montgomery, Jane Austen, Kate DiCamillo, Margaret Atwood and Margaret Laurence are a few of the authors who have influenced me. Books with strong female characters stick with me.

What are you working on now?
I am working on Amanda in France: Fire in the Cathedral. Yes, Amanda is in Paris when Notre Dam burns. She meets a number of suspicious characters who may or may not be responsible for this terrible crime. Amanda and her friend Leah get to sleep in a bookstore, sample delicious French cuisine, and visit the Louvre, Versailles and Monet´s amazing gardens. For a book lover, history buff and amateur sleuth, this is the perfect place for Amanda and she quickly falls in love with France.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I find my blog is my best site for promoting my books. I belong to a fabulous blogging community that help promote each other’s work. Sites like Awesome Gang are great to be part of as well.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you have an idea for a book, start writing. The only way it will get finished is if you start right now. Keep writing. Some days you won’t produce much of value but it is all good practice. I would also suggest you join a writer’s critique group. It is so valuable to get feedback from other writers.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don´t give up! Don´t worry that you are not a good enough writer. The more you write, the better you will get.

What are you reading now?
I am reading The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. This author has such an amazing way with words.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I would like to compile a collection of short stories about growing up in the Canadian prairies in the fifties and sixties. It was a magical time and I would love future generations to know about it. I have more ideas for other Amanda travels books as well.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would bring War and Peace, The Bible, Pride and Prejudice, and Little Women

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Currently, I have one book, Serra Online, published, with two more coming out this year; Proverbs of a Bastard and the sequel to Serra Online, Settlements!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Serra Online was inspired by spending thousands of hours playing MMORPGs, (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games.) Movies like Tron and books like Ready Player One that used gaming features as literary devices have always intrigued me, then I stumbled upon the Litrpg genre and everything clicked.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I tend to write the most outdoors in my backyard but I do use my four-legged companion, Zeke, as a sounding board. He rarely disagrees with me so I find that works the best most of the time.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
This list could go on for pages so I’ll only list a few:
Dakota Krout- Completionist Chronicles
Kel Kade – King’s Dark Tidings
Pirateaba – The Wandering Inn
and everything from Larry Correia

What are you working on now?
I’m in the revision process for my novel named Proverbs of a Bastard and writing the first draft for Serra Online’s follow-up book, Settlements.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The Litrpg groups on Facebook.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
No one but you is going to write the story in your head but you. You have to put words on paper to make progress, even if they’re bad. You can revise bad sentences. You can’t revise a blank sheet.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never buy fresh seafood out of a pickup with landlocked license plates. Oh, for writing? Character building without progressing the plot is filler and bogs down your work. Whether you mean to or not, every sentence you write creates a promise to the reader or answers a question; when you start adding miscellaneous material into your story, you either create more promises you never intend on answering or inadvertently add a barrier that slows your reader down.

What are you reading now?
The Wandering Inn Vol.3 Flowers of Esthelm by Pirateaba

What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue with my Litrpg series The Castillion Chronicles and branch into traditional fantasy.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Free the Darkness by Kel Kade.
An outdoor survival guide.
and two phone books to help feed my fire.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a simple man who enjoys writing. But never did I imagine in my life that I would actually give it a serious thought. As an actor, I got involved in the creation of the visual magic called Movies. It opened other avenues to express my self, and needless to say, writing scripts became one of my favorites. I started with writing scripts for short film, many of which saw the light of the day, many did not, some even got acclaimed in international film festivals. Eventually I tried my hands at full length feature scripts. Though, none of them did see the light of the day due to the lack of finance, they were appreciated by everyone who got a glimpse of them. With the pandemic and lockdown all over the world, I decided to let them see the light and converted one of my scripts to a book. And I hope to follow with all the other scripts that I have conceived or written.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest Book is Courier Service.
The book was originally conceived as a script for a Bollywood movie and was inspired by the movies directed by the likes of Priyadarshan and Rohit Shetty.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I will not be able to say if it is unusual or not, but I mostly prefer writing from morning till the afternoon. On rare occasions, when there is a pang to write, I do write in other times of the day depending upon when the pang comes, but the are rare.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
This is a tough one, as there are too many to be listed simply. I love for reading stretches from Shakespeare to Sydney Sheldon, from Pride and Prejudice to Artemis Fowl. So it is hard for me to exactly say what has influenced me. Yes, but now that I think of it, The Alchemist and The Door in The Wall are two books that I have read over and over, When ever I felt a bit down or depressed.

What are you working on now?
I am planning to start converting another of my scripts to book. All that I would like to say or share at the moment is that it is a horror thriller.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still to find out.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just be your self and write what you feel, not what people tell you to write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Listen to your Heart. It is the beat and the worst advice that I ever heard and chose to follow.

What are you reading now?
I am on the second run of Artemis Fowl, Arctic incident.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I just started, so I intend to continue on this path for a while now. But even if I am not able to put out my stories or books as frequently for some reason, I intend to keep the ball rolling.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Door in the Wall.
The Alchemist.
Isha Upanishad.
In Conversations with God. (all of them)

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi! I’m a psych nurse in Canada, and on the side I do graphic design and I’ve always written stories. My first published book was released in April 2021, and it’s called Your Brain is an A**hole.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Your Brain is an A**hole was inspired by the pandemic and seeing patients we had never seen before. Folks are struggling, and our cases are more acute than ever. Many people need someone to say ‘you’re not alone in this,’ and our patients and staff are really getting through this pandemic together.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m always thinking about it. I have snippets of ideas in my phone, scraps of paper, notebooks, my iPad, heck I even jot stuff down on my hand, as a nurse does!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Jenny Lawson comes to mind. She’s always been a champion for mental health awareness, and she has a weirdo sense of humour, like me!

What are you working on now?
A sci-fi horror novel called The Cloud.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m new at this! Friends and family have been supportive and got the book really high on Amazon lists, but that only lasts a short time and I don’t want to be annoying on social media.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Your voice is important! Keep going and if your stomach is flip flopping when you release your work into the world, then you’re doing it right!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be gentle with yourself. (I say it all the time to patients)

What are you reading now?
A stack of about 10 different books!

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing The Cloud, and I have some other books in the brainstorming stage. Maybe one for kids!

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Impossible question!
