Calvin Allen

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Minister Calvin Allen. I am the author of two Christian Nonfiction Books. I write Christian true stories because of the need for rest and peace in our world. My books speak on Go’s grace and mercy, and how He has promised to save even the lowest of the lowest–those whom many have labeled castaways. I am a graduate of Suny Ulster College, where I received my associate in Human Services, a graduate of Valor Christian College where I graduated and received my degree in theology, and presently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Program at Mercy College, where I will also pursue my Masters in Sociology/Psychology Degree.

I am a member of the Ellenville Pastoral Team at Ellenville, NY, where I make a regular visit to pray for the ill and the families. My idea of life is to bring happiness and joy to as many lives as possible, giving back what has been so freely given to me.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book title is, “The Big White Church Down the Street.” I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to write both my first book and “The Big White Chuch Down the Street.”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No

To promote at all levels and open opportunities

Don’t give up. If you keep pressing towards your goal you will be successful in achieving your goal.

To publish books and continue to minister the word through writing Christian Nonfictions

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

Jack Jardel

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a journalist who’s reported around the world, mainly from Europe, Russia and the Middle East. Merchants of Hate is my first book. I’ve loved the creative outlet writing has given me. I found it cathartic to dive deeper into issues and reimagine our world in a fictional near-future.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut novel is called Merchants of Hate. I felt compelled to write it after reporting on the impact of fake news and social media on democracy. I think we spend a lot of time focusing on political events themselves, whilst sometimes overlooking the underlying causes. Misinformation, fake news and populism are set to be issues that dominate our times. The advent of social media and the rapidly changing ways people consume information, make it easier than ever before for these to proliferate. It’s something we’ve seen increasingly impact democracies in recent years; and yet there’s still no real consensus on how we navigate this rapidly changing environment. It might be that the issue is too big to tackle, or we’re too distracted by day-to-day crises to focus on something further down the line. Either way, I wanted to create a near-future dystopia that exposes the vulnerabilities of our current world. One where all these issues have already spiralled out of control, and an unprecedented natural disaster is set to provide the spark to insidious elements that have festered unchecked for decades.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I would say anxiously overthinking every sentence, though I doubt that’s unusual. Listening to a good history podcast before I start always helps clear my thoughts.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
It probably goes without saying for a dystopian writer, but 1984 for the world building storytelling. Multiple viewpoints are a defining characteristic of Merchants of Hate, allowing readers to experience the unfolding chaos from characters and settings around the world. I took some inspiration from books such as World War Z in trying to give a global perspective of the drama. Finally, This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay, because even dark dystopian fiction needs a bit of light; and I wanted to lace humour throughout Merchants of Hate.

What are you working on now?
Publicising Merchants of Hate and getting it as widely distributed as possible.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Making sure I reserve time each day to promote it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep at it, it’s a long process. I remember thinking I’d completed my final draft and edited as much as possible, six months later I had a different manuscript.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“If I don’t say I’m the best, tell me who the hell will”- Phife Dawg/ Tribe Called Quest in the song Word Play. I’m a bit of a hip hop junkie. Whilst this is tongue in cheek, and I’m certainly not saying I’m anywhere near the best, writing a novel does require a thick skin. An important part of the process is being able to take criticism on board and self-critique; but ultimately you have to still believe you have a story to tell and are the right person to tell it.

What are you reading now?
Hilary Mantel, The Mirror and the Light. I love her trilogy and find it incredible how she transports the reader to Tudor England.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Sleep. Then a sequel to Merchants of Hate.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Philip Fairbanks

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing semi-professionally or professionally for over two decades now. My work has appeared in the peer-reviewed art journal Afterimage, CUNY’s graduate paper The Advocate, UK newspaper The Daily Star, UK literary journal White Chimney, Australian magazine New Dawn and Ghettoblaster magazine as well as several online publications. So far I only have one book available for sale, Pedogate Primer: the politics of pedophilia but a second book is currently being edited and will hopefully be released by 2021. I also have a draft of a book on the plant medicine kratom and start on a draft about nootropics and biohacking that will hopefully also be available in 2021.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Pedogate Primer: the politics of pedophilia is based on two decades of research into institutional pedophilia and cases like Jeffrey Epstein, Jimmy Savile, Prince Andrew, the Finders Cult and religious organizations, NGOs and charities and Hollywood being implicated in the abuse of children. I’ve been following this subject for over 20 years now and was inspired by learning about the inhumane and devastating experiments of the CIA’s MK-Ultra program on unsuspecting military personnel, civilians, even children.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to take notes on the computer but when it comes to organizing ideas and outlining, everything has to be done on paper or notecards.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dave McGowan, Nick Bryant, Stephen Singular, Alex Constantine and William Ramsey were all influential on this book in particular. I am also a big fan of Daniel Estulin, Antony C. Sutton, Frances Stonor Saunders, David Livingstone, Douglas Valentine, Yasha Levine and many more who inspired me to cover topics that don’t receive enough mainstream media attention.

What are you working on now?
My second book, about the two party system illusion, the hidden corporatist bureacracy funding our electoral government and many of the ills and excess of those oligarchs is currently being edited. It covers the media monopolists, robber barons, security state meddling with Hollywood, art and literature and much more. Like Pedogate Primer, I stick to verifiable facts, trusted sources and often FOIA and other government documents.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Probably YouTube. I have done some interviews with podcasters and radio hosts and have some more in the works. That always helps to get some buzz about a new book.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read, read, read. Read constantly about your subject, but also be constantly learning about your craft and how to improve it. Unfortunately for a 21st century author part of that craft includes mastering digital marketing and things like that. Don’t be afraid to outsource what you don’t know and can’t do so you can focus on your strengths. Same token, it’s good to continue to learn at least the fundamentals of social media and online marketing and the platforms to get your book some publicity.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Fill up notebooks.” Just fill up notebooks and then fill up more notebooks. Don’t worry about the quality for now, figure that out later. Cull the good from the bad, combine them and use what’s left to start filling up new notebooks. Heard this about 11/12 years ago, still stand by its practicality.

What are you reading now?
The Templars by Piers Paul Reid, Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Virtual Light by William Gibson.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have two drafts that are in serious need of cleaning up. One on a plant medicine and another about nootropics (cognitive enhancing drugs) and the practice of biohacking using diet and other natural methods. I’ve also got a series of correspondence from an artist friend and mentor who died recently that a publisher is interested in publishing once I find the time and emotional energy to collect and organize it.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
J.K. O’Toole’s Confederacy of Dunces, the complete works of Lovecraft and the Brittanica (does that count?)
